So I had gnocchi for the first time today. Seriously, why have I never eaten this food before? I've heard of it. I've seen it in the stores. I've seen recipes for it online. 26 1/2 years and today was the first time I've ever tried it. I went with a simple option, per the recommendation of a fellow coworker: Trader Joe's Gnocchi al Gorgonzola. It was super easy to make and tasted great. The little gnocchi was the perfect kind of chewy and the cheese sauce made a good addition. Part of me is glad I only got one bag because I would have overstuffed myself.

I may have to make more frequent trips to this wonderful store. I always thought the prices were a little much, but after buying some organic cheese, carrots, red pepper hummus and bananas, along with the gnocchi, some pepperoni, two boxes of Israeli couscous, chocolate croissants and mini peanut butter cups, I still spent less than $30. I think the only reason I shop at Safeway so often is because of the gas reward points. I also do enjoy their deli breakfast sandwiches. I'm kind of stuck on those.

I didn't go running this morning, as planned. I ended up sleeping in a lot later than I thought I would and Jacob had to go to work soon afterward. So if I had gone running, it would have been by myself and the motivation isn't there for that yet. Tomorrow I have to get up early enough to get my laundry done in a timely fashion so the jogging will definitely happen then. I have to break in my shoes before the 5K at the end of next month.

Anywho, other than the trip to the store and my amazing introduction to gnocchi, today has been rather uneventful. Tomorrow, aside from the laundry and the jogging, will be the same.

Until then. . .

Oops
Thursday. 6.20.13 6:56 pm
I spent more money than I should have on crap food so now I have to improvise for the next week until I get paid. I still have plenty of money, but I was aiming to not have to dip in to the reserves. Saving up for a vacation is hard enough. It's my own fault for not exercising self control, but still. Oh well. I'm okay with eating very little for the next week.

My headache finally went away. I have a feeling it's because I need to get my eyes checked. I keep saying that; it's been a repetitive statement for at least the past month. I know I will eventually schedule something; it's too late in the day for me to do so now. Perhaps tomorrow when I'm sitting here bored out of my mind.

It's money that I don't want to spend. I'm registering my vehicle and getting it smog checked next month {it's called emissions here because there's little to no smog here} so that's also money that I wasn't anticipating on having to spend. I knew that I would be able to afford it on time this year {last year I was struggling and got ticketed for expired tabs,} but I somehow forgot to add that in to the budget when thinking about how much money I could put aside out of each paycheck. Ugh. This idea of getting a part time job is looking more and more like a requirement rather than an option.

No plans for the weekend. I'm sure I'll be spectacularly bored sitting at home over the next two days. As long as I get to sleep in, I could care less how bored I am.

Until tomorrow. . .

Headache
Wednesday. 6.19.13 7:20 pm
This is going to be really short. I woke up from my nap with a headache. Oddly enough, I didn't have the headache before I took my nap. For some reason I always thought that naps helped eliminate headaches, but apparently not the one I took today.

I'm thinking it may have something to do with my vision since it hurts right behind my eye which means that pretty much looking at anything is making the headache worse.

I have to keep looking away every other sentence so I'm going to end this here.

Until tomorrow. . .

Lost time
Tuesday. 6.18.13 6:11 pm
I've spent nearly 16 hours over the last week or so playing a game on my phone. 16 hours. . . A lot of that occurred in the two days I was home sick from work. It's a game that I can play while laying down, but still. That's a lot of lost time on just a game. Funny/sad part is that it won't keep me from continuing to play it. Ah, fun times.

I finally got my running shoes; a pair that fits. So much for starting a new jogging routine at the beginning of June. I also bought socks that are soft and breathable so hopefully it keeps me cool enough while I'm out jogging. The plan is to start up on Friday, but it all depends on how I feel. Exerting any kind of excess energy right now causes me to get stuffed up, cough more and gives me a sinus headache. My ears are still not clogging up, so that's a plus; I can hear more clearly again. I just wish this cold would go away as quickly as it came on. It's been over a week now.

It's rather windy right now. There was a brief bit of rain last night and some sprinkles this morning, but then the clouds moved on and the sun came out. I was hoping that as windy was it has been getting that the rain would be moving back in, but alas, I look outside and still a clear, blue sky. Go figure. Maybe later or tomorrow.

I probably won't be going to a movie any time soon. I forgot that I need to register my vehicle next month so that's about $150 more than I was expecting to have to pay. I also will need to get my oil changed next month so that'll be even more. Ugh. I may have to actually start looking seriously for a part time job. If I haven't been able to save up any kind of extra money by the end of next month, I'll look for/get a part time job. Maybe as a stock person or cashier.

I didn't get a nap in today and I'm super tired right now. I also just ate so that's probably got something to do with it. I have to stay up until at least the sun goes down. The last time I said I needed to do that it didn't happen. The sun will be going down in a couple hours so all I have to do is occupy my time for two hours. Perhaps now is a good time to start reading.

There was something else I needed to write, but now I don't remember. . . . .

Oh yeah. For someone {me} who doesn't like dreams much, I had a rather pleasant set of dreams last night. They all involved an actor whom I've recently been swooning over. Nothing too crazy and wild, but nice and comfortable. I got angry at my alarm this morning because it went off and popped me out of one of the more relaxing dreams I was having. I can only hope to dive back in to them again tonight. If I'm going to dream, I want them all to be like they were last night.

Alright, time to kill two hours. Maybe I'll waste time on that stupid game. I'm not sure I'm in the mood to read just quite yet. I'll let you know tomorrow what I ended up doing.

Until then. . .

Little by little
Monday. 6.17.13 6:13 pm
I feel slightly better today than I did yesterday and tomorrow I will probably feel slightly better than I do today. The wonderful part of getting better is that, although the cold can come on in a matter of hours, the healing part takes so much time. I can at least walk at a somewhat normal pace again without hacking up a lung. And I can go an hour or more without having to blow my nose so that's a plus.

My running shoes have arrived so I will be picking them up after work tomorrow. I'll be putting gas in my car while I'm up there since the Safeway gas station isn't too far away.

Since I'm budgeting my money to save up as much as I can for my trip in December, I think I may try to budget some movie money in with the next paycheck. I want to go see Man of Steel, but movies are expensive so I'll have to plan carefully. Perhaps maybe a matinee showing one day ... however, I'm sure the movie will be a lot more awesome if it's in IMAX 3D. We'll see what happens.

This is the third or fourth time in the last week or so where rain was in the forecast and it has been bright and sunny. I'm not complaining too much, but it would be nice if it actually rained a little. It's been rather dry these last couple weeks so some moisture in the air would be nice. There's rain forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday so I'll see if it's truth or just horrible forecasting.

I need to fix something to eat.

Until tomorrow. . .

*sniffle* *cough* Ugh
Sunday. 6.16.13 6:58 pm
I'm so ready to be over this cold. I'm blowing my nose far less often now, but I'm still congested. At least when I sound sick, people tend to leave me alone about not working up to par.

I haven't started 12th of Never yet. For some reason, I feel like I have to be better in order to fully enjoy the book. I don't want to have to put the book down every few chapters to blow my nose. Hopefully by this weekend I'll be able to get the book started.

**Warning: brief amount of girly talk ... will commence regular blogging momentarily**
With this IUD, my periods will slowly get lighter and lighter, but there will be a lot of spotting in the first few months. I'ts been a little over 48 hours since I've had it inserted and what normally would be my period right now, there seems to be only light spotting. I know for a fact that I'm not pregnant. For one thing, you have to get some in order for that to even be a possibility and it's been a while. Second, the pee test came back negative so I know that the lack of menstrual fluid exiting my body is not due to pregnancy. Maybe my cycles are always this light and because I use tampons, I wouldn't notice the difference? Either way, I think it's kind of awesome.
**End of girly talk. Regular blogging will commence**

The first official day of Summer is later this week and it sort of feels like it's summer here. The temps have been in the mid 70s the last few days. It's rather breezy today, though, so it's not too warm in my room. I haven't even had to turn the fan on yet. I did yesterday, though. The sun was just a tad too warm for me not to. Tomorrow there's supposed to be some kind of front moving through that will bring some late Spring sprinkles. The last few times rain has been forecast, nothing has happened other than clouds so I'm hoping for some actual precipitation this time.

My reordered running shoes should be arriving at the store sometime tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be early enough that I can go get them after work. I won't be running until probably Friday. There's no need in making myself more sick by exerting too much energy that I don't have.

Alright, I should probably take a shower before it gets too late. I don't want to go to bed with my hair too wet and taking a shower this late in the evening is pushing it. I also want to play some more Jetpack Joyride. It's a free game on Android that's incredibly addicting ... when you have someone to compete against. Or if you like playing games that seem to have no end. I'm fairly certain the goal is simply to get as far as you can without dying. Sure, there are mini missions that you get and there are a lot of in-game accessories, but I think the reason I'm stuck on playing it so much is because I want to make sure I keep ahead of a coworker of mine. He likes to gloat and this is my chance to rub it back in his face. It's all in good fun.

Yeah, I think this is long enough.

Until tomorrow. . .
