So I had gnocchi for the first time today. Seriously, why have I never eaten this food before? I've heard of it. I've seen it in the stores. I've seen recipes for it online. 26 1/2 years and today was the first time I've ever tried it. I went with a simple option, per the recommendation of a fellow coworker: Trader Joe's Gnocchi al Gorgonzola. It was super easy to make and tasted great. The little gnocchi was the perfect kind of chewy and the cheese sauce made a good addition. Part of me is glad I only got one bag because I would have overstuffed myself.

I may have to make more frequent trips to this wonderful store. I always thought the prices were a little much, but after buying some organic cheese, carrots, red pepper hummus and bananas, along with the gnocchi, some pepperoni, two boxes of Israeli couscous, chocolate croissants and mini peanut butter cups, I still spent less than $30. I think the only reason I shop at Safeway so often is because of the gas reward points. I also do enjoy their deli breakfast sandwiches. I'm kind of stuck on those.

I didn't go running this morning, as planned. I ended up sleeping in a lot later than I thought I would and Jacob had to go to work soon afterward. So if I had gone running, it would have been by myself and the motivation isn't there for that yet. Tomorrow I have to get up early enough to get my laundry done in a timely fashion so the jogging will definitely happen then. I have to break in my shoes before the 5K at the end of next month.

Anywho, other than the trip to the store and my amazing introduction to gnocchi, today has been rather uneventful. Tomorrow, aside from the laundry and the jogging, will be the same.

Until then. . .

I used to eat that gnocchi all the time as an after school snack. I don't anymore because it has rennet in it and I'm pescetarian, but I definitely don't miss the chance to get gnocchi otherwise. Trader Joe's also has packages of plain boil-it-yourself gnocchi near the dry pasta, usually. In my experience those ones can have a slight... tang. It might just depend on how you make it, though.
