stepping up to the challenge: 100 random facts about myself
Tuesday. 8.3.10 5:52 pm
Thanks to dilated there seems to be a trend. And due to the fact that I've been tagged by randomjunk I felt I should step up to the challenge. . . as well as being a part of the crowd at the same time.

1. I'm competitive by nature, but my laziness tends to get in the way sometimes.

2. Instead of a dictionary, I now use Google to find words that I don't know how to spell.

3. I started NuTang because physically writing about how much my life sucked at the age of 18 wasn't enough for me.

4. Until I started receiving direct deposit, I always hated using my debit card.

5. I just realized this is probably going to take longer than I thought.

6. I do believe I have found the love of my life. Even with all the problems we've had in the past, I don't have to question why I love him.

7. I'm more excited and more scared about moving to Washington State than I ever have been about any other move I've made. Including the one when I was 18, moved on my own to a place I had never been to to live with a person I had never met.

8. I describe moving as a bad habit. I know that I should stop and eventually I will, but right now I just can't.

9. As much as I love to read, I seem to focus my attention more on the computer.

10. I love the Twilight novels; I own all four of them.

11. I refuse to see the Twilight movies simply because the actors they chose piss me off.

12. I have major trust issues.

13. Even though I was never very close to my mom or sister, it makes me sad to know that they're not involved in my life the way they were a few years ago.

14. I'd wanted tattoos since I was 8. I have three and I plan on getting many more.

15. My father died when I was 8. After 15 years, the memories are getting harder to hold on to.

16. I absolutely, without a doubt, love the rain.

17. I have the best blanket in the world ... but it wasn't mine to begin with.

18. I prefer dogs to cats. I'll only put up with cats if I have to.

19. Every time I think about my current job, I get a nasty taste in my mouth.

20. I'm afraid of failure.

21. Even though I try not to, I like to brag about accomplishments in my life.

22. My dream car is a Mini Cooper S. Don't ask me what the specs are ... I'm not that car smart.

23. I like to tell people when my birthday is about a month in advance and then don't say anything at all the day of just to see how many people remember.

24. Since I can remember, I've never been a fan of my birthday.

25. I still have nightmares. Most of them end with me suffocating in the dark. I'll be startled awake from not being able to breathe.

26. I like how the sound of someone hitting the backspace button is very distinguishable.

27. I have an intense fascination for scars. Even though I don't like how he got them, I love that my boyfriend has two major ones.

28. I don't think I have ADD or ADHD, but I have a tendency of becoming very interested in something {ie: learning Japanese, playing certain games} and then losing interest just as quickly.

29. I have a minor case of OCD. Certain things just need to be in certain places.

30. My favorite color has been black since the age of 4. My mom told me that was the first year I was allowed to pick out my own Christmas dress and I picked out a black velvet dress.

31. Jacob is the reason why I like sushi.

32. Most older siblings want to be married and have children before their younger ones. I've wholly accepted that my younger sister will have both before me. She already has a child.

33. I don't ever want children. There's about a 1% chance that I'll change my mind, but I honestly doubt it.

34. I'm a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, though I really don't do much to give myself that fix.

35. I've always loved roller coasters. The bigger the better.

36. My favorite part about myself is my eyes. What makes that ironic is that I'm inching closer and closer to becoming blind.

37. When people ask me what I see when I take off my glasses, I compare it to looking at a very out-of-focus picture.

38. I've been to the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, but never the Pacific. That will soon change.

39. I'm not afraid to tell people how much I weigh.

40. With each new job I have {I've only had three, by the way} I seem to dislike them more and more. For once I would like to have a job that I actually enjoy. One where I don't mind going.

41. I have this thing against even numbers. I'm not sure what it is, but when I eat cookies or am told to pick a number at random, I always chose an odd number.

61. I've been told that I wash my clothes "like a guy" because I don't serparate out the loads. I just throw everything into a cold wash.

62. On average, I tend to be in an all around better mood when it's cloudy. If there's precipitation, it makes it that much better.

71. I'm one of few women who actually likes spiders and snakes.

72. I didn't own a purse until I was 17 years old. Even today I still hate carrying that thing around.

77. Whenever I get a new phone, I really enjoy it ... for about 3 months.

78. I'm a very emotional person. Except when it comes to movies.

79. When I was younger I refused to see a therapist because I didn't see the point in paying someone to pretend to care about you. Especially when you have friends who will listent to you and who actually care. Now that I'm older, I still won't see one, but I understand that they do actually help you in ways that a friend can't.

80. The smell of fresh cut grass always makes me think of when I was a kid and my dad would be out on the riding mower cutting the yard.

86. I haven't been to the dentist since I was 9 years old. I already know that I'll need surgery on my jaw, but I'm still afraid to go.

87. I want to get lasik surgery done. And I will, someday ... when I have the money.

88. I'm by no means close to germophobic, but it bothers me when I'm in a public bathroom and watch someone walk out without washing their hands.

89. I hate getting my hands dirty. I'm still not sure how I was able to work in a restaurant and a warehouse without this bothering me.

90. The one thing I very much enjoyed about having a gym memebership was the spinning class. I would like to get back into it some day.

91. Sometimes I take the advice from the comments on my NuTang page above the advice that I'm given by the people I actually know.

92. In my opinion car dealers should not be allowed to have the option to have cars available in pink or puke green.

93. I don't like telling people what happened to my father. Not because it's upsetting, but because it causes an awkward silence to eminate from the person I just told.

94. I've never had a nickname and I don't care to have one either.

95. When I was younger I couldn't wait to turn 18 because I wanted so badly to change my middle name. Once I turned 18, though, I had gotten used to it and no longer disliked it.

96. I hate wearing dresses, but whenever I'm in a department store, I secretly want to go over and try on a variety of dresses.

97. I feel weird when I put on heels. Not because I'm not used to wearing them. I'm just very used to being short.

98. I honestly don't know what I would do if I were to win the lottery. About the only two things that come to mind are paying off my credit card and paying off my car.

99. I've been cracking my joints for so many years now that it actually hurts if I don't crack them.

100. My hair is long and I like it that way. Right now it's down to my waist. Having it cut any shorter than to the bottom of my shoulder blades, I consider to be too short.

Well, there you have it. They're not as exciting or creative as the ones from Dilated or RJ, but they're all random facts about myself. It also took me two days to think of all that I wrote.

Since the-muffin-man and thaitanic have already been challenged, then I shall challenge Sank's girlfriend, sporadicfunk and lazypuppy ... even though she's not around anymore. I may have to message her on facebook and give her a heads up about my challenge.

if you're nodding, I can't hear you. you have to nod louder
Saturday. 7.31.10 5:14 pm
The title is completely unrelated to what I'm going to write, but it was something I said earlier that sounded like a good title lol. Perhaps, if you're lucky, I'll explain later what caused me to say it.

I've moved back in with Jacob. Long story short, my sister, having not found a job yet, was unable to afford her half of the apartment and with me barely being able to afford just my half, I wasn't able to take over the whole thing. So, having nowhere else to really go, Jacob had me move back in with him. It's only temporary until we move up to Washington ... which at this point will probably be in about a month and a half. We'll be able to save up money living here, since his mom is charging us next to nothing to live here. It's a little cramped having four of us in a two bedroom condo, but it's better than being broke and it taking longer for us to move.

I'm sick and tired of the bullshit at my job, but I only have to put up with it for a little while longer. Hopefully I can hold on to my sanity and my tongue long enough to get through.

It's fricken hot here. What's sad is that the 105 degree weather we've had over the last few days is actually cooler than normal for this particular time of year. Normally it's up around 110-115. Anything over 80 is hot to me. This is yet another reason why Washington will be great. Rain, grass, trees, cool weather. All things I look for in the type of environment I want to call home.

Anywho, I suppose I'll explain the title lol.

Jacob and I went out earlier and while I was driving I asked him a question. Instead of saying yes or no, he simply nodded his head. Well ... with me driving I couldn't exactly look away from the road to see him nod his head so I joked with him when I didn't hear an answer. "if you're nodding, I can't hear you. you have to nod louder." I guess it was one of those things where you had to be there, but it's still funny.

Alrighty, Nutangers. I shall write again. Hopefully soon. I'm still in the process of moving my stuff over here from the apartment. It's going to suck the fact that I had to break my lease, but hey, it's not like its something I could have prevented. It' s not my fault the economy sucks and my sister hasn't been able to find a job since she had the baby. Plus, I think this is an advantage ... in the long run. This is the best way to save up money: by not having rent to pay. We'll see what happens.

I'll do my best to keep you all updated on things. It may be a few days in between, but I'll try to keep it from going more than that. Until next time ...

speed limits
Monday. 7.26.10 5:47 pm
I was going to write this yesterday, but I forgot.

I can understand the concept of speed limits and why they're there, but sometimes the posted speed limit is a little too limited. I mean, seriously? Why would you want to drive only 35mph down a 6 lane wide street? Hell, I've seen 4 lane wide streets with the posted speed limit at 50mph.

High way speed limits I can also sort of understand. When you're driving through a city where there's more traffic and is more populated, then yes, the slower speed limit is necessary. But driving down a highway where the posted speed limit is only 55mph is absolutely ridiculous. I'm even uncomfortable with the 65mph speed limit on the highways I use to drive home. They should be at least 70mph. Most people drive that fast anyway.

On average I drive about 5 miles per hour over whatever the posted limit is. On the highway, I'm driving an average of about 10 miles per hour over. About the only time I drive exactly the speed limit is if I'm in a school zone or if traffic won't allow for a faster commute. Even if a cop is behind me, I'm still going at least a few miles per hour over the posted limit.

Night time is when I drive a little faster. On the highway I tend to get up to about 15mph over. So in this case driving to work, I'm usually doing anywhere between 75 and 80mph. Every once in a while there'll be a cop and I'll slow to 70, but otherwise, with no cars on the road, I see no reason to drive so fricken slow.

I hate the idiots that want to drive "safely" and drive 5 to 10 miles under the speed limit. Which on the highway, isn't exactly safe. Especially if driving 70+ is keeping up with traffic. I also hate the people who purchase fast cars {IE: corvettes, Z4's, Porche Boxters, etc} and then drive under the speed limit. Seriously!? If you're going to spend the extra money to buy a sports car with a high horse power, then FUCKING USE IT. I'm not saying become everyone's living nightmare/a speed demon on the road. I'm just saying use the car for what it's supposed to be used for. A car that's meant to drive at higher speeds. Not 55mph on a highway where the posted speed is 65. Ugh!

Anywho, I just wanted to rant about that. I'm off to read "2nd Chance" by James Patterson. I've only read "1st to Die" and maybe 10 chapters of "2nd Chance," but I'm already looking forward to reading the other 7 books. If you like murder mystery novels, definitely check out James Patterson's work. You'll get hooked right away.

Until next time NuTang ...

thanks guys

Thanks to those of you who commented on my prior entry. I greatly appreciate the feedback.

I've decided that I'm going to just keep the entries that I have. Hey, maybe one day I'll make it to 1000. It might even be this year. I've only got a little under 100 to write. I think that if I write one entry every few days, I'll be able to make 1000 before the New Year. We'll see what happens.

Hope everyone is doing well.

question for the regulars ...
Tuesday. 7.13.10 7:27 pm
Including this one, I am now up to 908 posts and that's after deleting some a couple years ago.

I've already deleted nearly every post from when I first started this website due to the fact that I was finally ready to completely let go of what my ex had done to me and that's what most of the early/beginning entries were about.

I'm considering deleting some more of them; mostly the posts from '06 and earlier, but I'm not sure if I should delete some of the later ones as well. Most of them aren't bad. Just me bitching about work.

My question to all of you is this: in your opinion how long should I keep up certain posts? How long would you wait before deleting stuff from the past?

It might not happen for a while, but for right now I just want opinions and suggestions on what everyone would do in this current situation.

Thanks!

strange feeling
Wednesday. 7.7.10 2:26 am
Every time I wash my hands, I walk away feeling as if I'm forgetting to put something back on. Like a ring or bracelet.

It's weird because I don't wear either piece of jewelry, yet every single time I wash my hands, I get that feeling.

I wonder why ...
