I've been trying to figure out exactly what I need to do to maximize coolness in my room. With the temperatures being in the 80s this whole week, the odds of it staying cool inside is not likely. The fan works well enough, but it's still pretty warm in here. Right now, the thermostat says it's 80 degrees in here, with it being around 82 outside. The difference? There's no sun in here.

So I know that if I put up aluminum foil on the windows, not only will it keep the heat out, but it'll completely block out the light as well; something I don't really want to do. I like having the natural light in my room. Instead, I have a dark sheet tacked up to the wall covering most of the West-facing window. I have a South-facing window, but the sun never directly shines through there. I also have the West-facing bathroom window, but if I keep my bathroom door closed over, the heat pretty much stays in there.

I've more of less been trying to figure out how far open or closed I should leave my windows during the day. I leave them almost all the way open at night to allow for maximum air flow from the cool night air outside. I leave them that way when I leave for work and close them over when I get home. I've been leaving them open about 3 or 4 inches and then opening them up all the way again once the sun sets, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or if I should close them all the way or leave one more open...?

Anywho, we had the world's shortest Code today. Less than 30 seconds after announcing the Code, it was canceled. It's good that it was cancelled because that means the issue had been resolved, but it still caused me to have to sprint a little ways as I was on the other side of the campus when it was called. I also had to write an incredibly short report since a Code was actually called, despite the fact that it was nearly immediately cancelled. It just meant that the report was really short.

My hair doesn't look nearly as awesome as it did when I got it cut, but that's because whatever they use in hair salons almost always makes your hair look awesome and unless you do exactly what the salon does, it's not likely that it'll look the same once you wash it. I was showing a bunch of people the pictures from Friday. Since I always had my hair up in a bun, no one realized how long it was so the reactions were great. "Whose hair is that? ... Yours?!?! It was that long?!? Wow!"

I swapped shifts with a coworker so I'll have tomorrow off. I plan on getting up early enough for a quick morning jog before it gets too hot out. I am supposed to be hanging out with another friend in the evening, but I haven't heard from her yet so I don't know what time we're supposed to hang out. If I haven't heard from her by the middle of the day tomorrow, I may make other plans. We'll see what happens.

Until then. . .

Daily grind
Sunday. 7.14.13 5:31 pm
Two days on, one off, two days on, one off. six days on. That's how this week is looking thus far. I'm actually going to try to pick up a swing shift on Friday, but that all depends on the SRO's availability. Either way, I will have at least one day off this week; with that day being Tuesday. A coworker needed Saturday off, so we swapped shifts. She will be working my Tuesday morning and I'll be working her Saturday.

Today went about as well as a Sunday could go. I did some patrolling, but spent most of the day just kind of wandering about ... which I supposed could be considered patrolling.

I'm pretty tired, but it's too late to take a nap. I'll probably end up going to bed early tonight. I opted for taking a shower as soon as I got home instead of a nap. My hair only takes about 2 hours to completely dry rather than just over 3, which is nice. It pretty much means that if I feel like washing my hair later in the evening, after a nap, it'll still be dry in time for bed. I can actually wear it down at work; it's short enough, but with it getting back in to the 80s during the day, I'll probably still wear it up so it's off my neck. I'll just be able to take it down at the end of my shift rather than having to wait until I'm home and have a brush available to me.

I caught up on all the Hulu shows yesterday. I've started watching a series that a Yogscast person is doing on their site: Sjin's Feed the Beast World. I'm still watching Sips plays Don't Starve, but he may not continue playing the game, depending on how people vote. I hope he keeps playing. Watching him play that game is amusing. I like it better than some of the other games he plays, such as Skyrim. I can only stand watching that game for so long before I get bored.

Yeah, I'll definitely be calling it an early night. It's barely after 5:30 and I'm already struggling to keep my eyes open. I will try to make it until the sun goes down, but the last few times I said that, I think I made it as far as 7:30. We'll see what happens. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Until then. . .

Treading water ... again
Saturday. 7.13.13 4:58 pm
I've spent a bit more money than I was planning on spending. . . A splurge at Target yesterday kind of did me in. Also the dinner with my friends that I covered didn't help either. I'm not getting very far on saving up money for my December trip. Hopefully I get a turn of the tide here soon. Or I just don't go shopping at Target or eat out any time in the near future.

I really should get on finding a second, part time, overnight type of job. Something simple and stupid that doesn't require much effort. Maybe a retail or grocery store shelf stock person. Overnight so that I won't have to deal with the general public. I get to deal with them often enough at my full time job. Anyone have any suggestions?

I got the bras and fan returned to the store and was able to find another bra set of two that actually fit more comfortably. At the moment, I'm kind of in between a 36 and 38. The 36 is a little too small around, but the cups fit nicely and the 38 fits around, but the cups are a little too big so I just went with the 36 since that's what I've been wearing for years now. Hopefully I can motivate myself enough to make use of the two new workout shirts I got and lose some of the fat that's causing the 36 to be a little too constricting.

The groceries I got today will also have to last me until the 26th. Which, if I portion everything appropriately, should be just fine. I have a habit of overeating food that tastes really good so I'll have to be very careful this time around.

The rest of today will be spent just kind of hanging out, catching up on shows on Hulu and hopefully staying cool. It's already warmed up 10 degrees inside, but more than 20 outside. It does help having shorter hair. I just have to figure out how I'm going to wear it to work. It's a tad too short for the bun that I always had it in. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Until tomorrow. . .

Productivity!
Friday. 7.12.13 8:48 pm
So this is the list from yesterday. I've crossed out everything that I got completed. It's been a rather productive day for once.

1. Pay car/insurance, cell phone, credit card.
2. Register for Torchlight 5K.
3. Put gas in car.
4. Go to the bank.
5. Stop by Jasmine's.
6. Get car emissions tested.
7. Register car.
8. Go to Target, buy at least one new bra. **
9. Get hair cut with Meko.
10. Get oil changed.
11. Stop by AT&T to discuss new phone options. {This is optional ... if I remember to do this while I'm at Target, I will. If not, it can wait until another time.}
12. Go grocery shopping. {Also optional; I may put it off until Saturday.}
13. Set up monthly payments with Legal Shield.
14.

Since I didn't get to the bank inside the grocery store, I kept forgetting to go to the grocery store to get a money order for my credit card/debt payment. It's not due until the end of the month, and since I spent a little more than I was anticipating, it may wait until the next paycheck.

The oil change will also wait until the next paycheck because I'm only over by 50 miles so it won't be a big deal if I wait a couple more weeks. I won't be putting that much mileage on my vehicle. Hell, the last oil change was in November and I'm just now at the 3,750 mark.

I did get to Target and I bought a two-bra set, but will be returning them tomorrow. The wire went all the way across the bottom rather than up in the middle so it was just weirdly uncomfortable. That was the issue with buying the two pack was that I couldn't try them on in-store. I also bought a fan that I'll be returning. The air only blows out the side of the vent, not the middle. It's kind of a waste if I always need to keep the fan at a weird angle. The sleep pants and two dry-fit shirts I bought will be kept. Those are all really comfy.

I'll get my grocery shopping done while I'm out and about tomorrow afternoon. The laundry will get done in the morning when I wake up and once I get motivated to leave the house, I'll return the stuff to Target and get some food products.

My hair is cut super short. It's even shorter than last time. I donated about a foot or so to Locks of Love again. My head is a lot lighter from the lack of weight cased by the length of my hair. It'll be a lot easier to wash it and the dry time will be shorter by at least an hour. I will have to figure out a new way to wear it for work, though. It's not quite long enough to wear it in the bun that I put it up in. I'll spend a good part of tomorrow messing with it to see what works.

After the hair cut, my friends and I went out for dinner. We went to this place called the 8oz Burger Bar. It was probably the best burger I've ever eaten. The prices were reasonable and the wait wasn't too bad. If I have the chance and money to go back, I definitely will.

After a bit of wandering through R.E.I. we all headed home for the night. It was definitely a productive day. Sleep tonight should come easily.

Until tomorrow. . .

July 11
Thursday. 7.11.13 9:08 pm
Yes! Tomorrow is finally Friday. I've been waiting for this all week. My paycheck isn't quite as much as I thought... thanks to the Union dues being taken out. I can't complain too much; they've done some fighting for us recently and it got the client to take notice so it's actually kind of worth it this time. This time.

Alright, so that I don't forget anything, here's the list of things to do tomorrow {in no particular order}:
9. Get hair cut with Meko.
10. Get oil changed.
11. Stop by AT&T to discuss new phone options. {This is optional ... if I remember to do this while I'm at Target, I will. If not, it can wait until another time.}
12. Go grocery shopping. {Also optional; I may put it off until Saturday.}
13. Set up monthly payments with Legal Shield.
14.

I'm leaving number 14 open in case I forgot something and need to add it. I'll be checking this in the morning so that I can write down a physical list and actually get things crossed off. If I try to remember to do all that stuff, I know I'll forget something. I even forgot to include some pretty basic stuff on this lest as I was writing it so you can imagine how much more I'll forget if I don't have this written down.

I took a late nap today and thus woke up late so my shower was later than I wanted it to be. It's not that big of a deal because I don't have to be in bed at any specific time, but I was hoping to shave my legs with the daylight. It's a little easier to see the hairs with natural light rather than the dull light from the overhead. That's okay, taking a shower is on the list of things to do tomorrow; it's just one of those things that is kind of for granted and doesn't need to be written down on a list.

I finished the jigsaw puzzle and put the picture up on Facebook. I never did get the demo derby pictures up ... I'm sure they'll make their way to Facebook eventually.

Alright, here's to tomorrow being one of the most productive days of the week/month/I don't remember the last time I had a day with that much productivity on the schedule. I'll write tomorrow about what I actually got accomplished.

Until then. . .

187?
Wednesday. 7.10.13 7:57 pm
This is either entry 187 or 188. . . I counted last night, but forgot the number that I stopped at. Oh well. I'll probably count again in a month or so.

Tomorrow is my Friday at work. As much as I look forward to that day every week, I am actually looking more forward to the actual Friday. That day will be filled with productivity! I have so many things I need to do that day and hopefully I'll get most of it done in the morning. I'll list off everything in tomorrow's entry.

The jigsaw puzzle didn't get finished today. There's quite a bit of cloud cover, which is more difficult to work in than sunlight, however, I'd rather have than cloud cover than blazing sun so no complaints there. I will be able to get the puzzle finished tomorrow, probably; the last 50-75 pieces. I have a lamp that I can use, but it's on the other side of the room and when I stand in front of the table, it blocks the light so it's kind of counterproductive.

Man, someone is brewing some coffee ... some really strong coffee if I can smell it in my room. I like the smell of coffee, just not the taste, so that's fine with me. Even if it wasn't fine, that probably still wouldn't matter.

Nothing really too interesting happened at work. A homeless guy decided he really needed to sleep inside the buildings, which is annoying when they keep coming back. I don't give a shit where you sleep, just don't do it on the campus while I'm on the clock.

There's a few more videos I want to watch on YouTube before I call it a night. I'll be getting up early tomorrow morning so that I can wash my hair before work. I want to wash it twice tomorrow so that it's super clean for Friday. I know it's better to wash it at night before you go to bed, but when it takes as long as it does for my hair to dry completely, it's a little too late at this point to wash it. Two hours from now it would still be pretty wet and I dunno about you, but sleeping on wet hair is rather uncomfortable.

Until tomorrow. . .
