new! ^-^ Sunday. 8.7.11 3:48 am This is my first entry with my new laptop. I'm still getting used to the keyboard. It's offset from the one that I'm used to because this one has the number pad as well as the normal QWERTY keys. My Dell didn't. It's a Sony VAIO. I am absolutely in love with this thing. It's amazingly fast. My old one is just that. Old. I had gotten used to having to wait for everything to load once I turned it on, so I would turn it on when I got home from work, but then I would shower so that my computer would be ready by the time I was done. I can turn this on and in less than a minute, I am able to access the web without any lag or glitches. Nothing. It's basically instant. I've also gotten used to still dealing with Windows XP. Windows 7 is basically standard on all computers now. My Sony also came with a built in webcam. I have yet to use it, but I like the idea that it's there. I am just simply loving it. The next step is to buy a new phone. But I'm not sure when that'll happen. Maybe for my birthday. Speaking of birthdays, today is my mom's. I wasn't able to get her anything, but she's also moving in a week and a half so I'll just wait until she moves before sending anything out. This way I know that she'll get it. I'll also have money by then. Oh, I also actually backed up my computer this time so that if anything bad happens to it in the future, I am able to reset it back to it's factory settings. A good thing to have even if it isn't needed for a while. Anywho, I really have nothing else to write about. I actually had received my laptop on Friday, but I only had about an hour to mess around with it before having to be at work. Then from having been up earlier than I was used to, I went to bed early and slept pretty much through until I had to get up for work. So I've had very little time to actually be on the computer. Tonight is really the first opportunity that I've had to write up the entry that I said I would. I'm just really excited. I'm broke for a while, but that's okay. It was worth it. Until next time NuTang. . . Comment! (5) | Recommend! stuff Monday. 8.1.11 10:58 am This past Saturday I participated in my first 5K. It was a lot of fun, but it really made me realize that I'm out of shape. I knew it before, but I figured I could have finished in less time. It would have been nice to be able to at least jog a majority of the 3 miles as opposed to walking most of it. Next year I will be better prepared. I got up earlier than normal today and for whatever reason I was feeling rather motivated. I have my second load of wash in the washer now, I've washed most of the dishes {I ran out of room in the dishwasher and on the drying towel} and I cleaned off some of the mold that was seeping down the wall by our bedroom window. There was a lot more than I was expecting, but since it's at the top of the window, I couldn't really reach it too well so I'll probably ask Jacob to clean the rest when he gets home from school. I seriously have never had to experience mold. I've lived in dry climates for the last 7 years and even before that when I lived in FL, it still got hot enough to dry stuff out. It was still humid, but much hotter than here. Also, the location of our apartment means that the sun never hits it. We get the reflection of the sun coming off the adjacent apartments across the way, but nothing directly. My next step is to vacuum and take the trash out. I wanted to take a break to get some water and sit for a minute since I've been going for the last 2 hours. After I'm done cleaning, I'll probably play on the Wii some. Jacob's mom sent out her Wii board since it would get more use here than at her house. It was very nice of her to do, though. The cost for shipping probably wasn't too cheap. We got another free TV. This one is a little smaller than our last, but much nicer. Meaning it actually works. The other one crapped out on us. Oh well. One of the downfalls to getting free stuff. Typically its been used so there might be some glitches. In more exciting news ... I bought a new laptop! I haven't gotten it yet; I only bought it on Friday and standard shipping is 3-5 business days. So hopefully I'll have it by the end of this week. I'm so excited! I've had this laptop since 2006 and it's seen better days. It doesn't run up to par and the memory {or lack there of} and the amount of stuff I have on this computer doesn't exactly help much. It runs well enough for what I need at the moment. I can access the internet and I can usually play videos on Hulu and YouTube. Sometimes, though, it just doesn't want to stream. The new one I'm getting is a Sony Vaio. Different than the Dell that I'm used to, but it was on sale. And Sony is a good brand. I could get it as early as tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm hoping for Wednesday at the earliest, Friday at the latest. And unless something happens between now and then, my next entry will probably be from the new laptop. The one I have now, I'll be sending to my sister when I can afford the shipping costs. Anywho, I think that's it in the recent happenings of my life. Until next time NuTang ... Comment! (2) | Recommend! trying new things and breathing through them Sunday. 7.24.11 1:27 am I really should learn some sort of meditative techniques. I've been trying this new thing called breathing. It works most of the time. The times breathing doesn't work on it's own, I also resort to ranting. I've added Chemistry to the math work that I'm doing on my own at home in order to better prepare myself for when I start school. See, I was planning on starting this quarter, but since I'm still considered a non-resident {fuck you honest ways} I have to wait until the winter quarter before I can be considered a resident and not have to pay a shit ton of tuition. Even the financial aid only covers 30% if I'm a non resident. Well, I don't have $900 either, so fuck you very much shitty system. It's frustrating sometimes because I am not in a class every day or every couple of days. I don't have an instructor who can explain how to better understand the curicculum being taught or that I can go up to and ask questions. I have just me, myself and the textbook. I do have Jacob's help, but he's not a teacher. I get frustrated really easily when I can't understand what he's trying to tell me and he gets frustrated because I can't understand what he's trying to tell me. I can understand, though. I know what it's like to try to explain something that I know how to easily do to someone who doesn't know how to do it. The shortcuts that are ingrained in to my brain won't work. I have to actually think about how it was back when I didn't understand something. So I am working really hard on this breathing technique so that when I can't understand right away something that Jacob is trying to explain to me, I breathe and work through it. I stop him and ask him to slow down or maybe explain it a different way. Or I tell him what I'm getting out of it and if it's wrong maybe he could help me understand the correct way. Still really frustrating at times, but I really am working on trying to be more patient. At least when it comes to this. Anywho, I guess I really don't have much else to write about so I'll end it here. At least until I have something else to write about. Comment! (3) | Recommend! distanced ... Saturday. 7.16.11 4:16 pm Comment! (2) | Recommend! working up the motivation to become motivated Saturday. 7.2.11 2:37 am Yes, at two thirty seven in the AM, I am thinking about how I can improve and the steps that need to be taken towards improving. I've been lacking a certain amount of motivation as of late and it usually gets to me in the middle of the night. I need to work on my math so that I can test in to a higher math class. At least the lowest college level course so that I don't have to pay extra money just to have someone teach me things I can learn at home for free. I need to get in to shape. Walking up two flights of stairs gets me winded. The 30+ pounds that I've gained in the last however many months needs to go away. Which means, yes, I'm considering going to the gym again. There's this fairly cheap gym down the street from me, that I can walk to, that offers free personal trainers. I need the push, the drive, the challenge in order to keep at it. Which is the job of a personal trainer; to push you when you can't push yourself any further. I am going to get in to school in the fall. I am going to start motivating to do better. To improve my life. Now if only these things stuck with me during the waking, daylight hours when it's necessary to have this sort of drive and not right before I'm about to knock out for the night.
