I woke up this morning feeling okay, but as soon as I got to work, I felt pissed off. I have really no idea why either. Nothing obviously apparent sticks out as a trigger, but here I am, getting pissed at quite literally everything. Every person that walks by requires me to make eye contact and at least smile. That pisses me off.

The simple fact that I have to be at work is pissing me off. I don't want to do anything. I'm not even sure if I want to go home. I just don't want to be here.

It's entirely possible that something that's happened recently, but not today, is what's triggering me to dislike everything. Maybe an event or statement that occurred or was said sometime in the last couple days is what's causing it. The problem with that, however, is that I can't even begin to narrow down what it could possibly be.

Another thing that's put me in a rather ornery state is that fact that I need to jump through flaming hoops just to register my car in the state of WA. It would almost seem easier to trade in my car for a new one here so that I don't have to deal with all the transferring of information from NV to here. I don't have the time to jump through said hoops before my registration expires.

This is causing me to not wait until Monday, as previously planned, but to get up early tomorrow and hope that I can do at least some of the paperwork in person at the vehicle registration place before I have to go to work. This way there might be a possibility that I can get the required information transferred before the middle of next month rather than the "up to 60 days" that I was told by my financer.

Ugh, now that I'm done ranting I think I'll end this before it gets any further. Or I get any more pissed.

tired! but so worth it
Sunday. 6.19.11 12:15 am
I got three hours of sleep last night and after having gotten off work at 10pm, had to be back to work at 6am. I did this because I needed to have the afternoon free. Why you might ask?

Roller derby, of course!!!

Tonight's bout was so much more fun than the one we went to two months ago. I'm not sure if it's because all the home teams were competing against each other to see who would go to the finals, or if it was because we had a more fun group and were actually able to hang out afterwards and grab a bite to eat. Either way, this time was much more fun.

Next month will be awesome because it's the final bout of the season; the championship game. It also happens to fall on a Sunday, which is my day off anyway. I won't have to worry about taking a day off or swapping shifts with anyone. It's also the day off of like 5 other people who are probably going to next month's as well. Hopefully next month will be the biggest group yet. I'm hoping to get at least 6, possibly 8 people to go, including myself. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

In 4 hours, I will have been up for 24, but I'm not going to stay awake that long. I'll actually probably go to bed after I'm done typing this up.

I just wanted to write about how exciting the night was and how much fun I had.

Tomorrow will be nice. I'm off work, I can sleep in and then I have my PAWS volunteer shift tomorrow night. Then Monday, I've got to actually get up a little early so that I can make my way downtown and register for the one class that I want to take this summer. If I can't get in to that one class, then I'm going to look in to this internship that the Seattle Aquarium is hosting this summer. Perhaps that would be great fun and great experience to put towards a future career. We'll see how school goes on Monday, though.

Until next time NuTang . . .

so cute yet so dirty
Monday. 6.13.11 12:40 am
I went and did my volunteer thing tonight. After not having gone for a couple weeks, I needed a refresher. Tonight, I was with an actual trainer so I got to do most of the regular volunteer thing. I still got to see some new animals, though. Which is awesome. I got to see barn owls and a baby harbor seal. The owls are so cute when they're trying to be defensive. I'm sure the older owls that are outside of captivity, they're probably a lot scarier than the youngin's that are in the rehab center's care, but still. When they poof themselves up, it just looks cute.

You can't make direct eye contact, though. It stresses the animals out. You don't want them to think you're there to harm them and if eye contact is made, it's considered a predatory move.

The cages {for the smaller animals} and mews {basically giant, enclosed areas where the bigger birds, such as owls, have room to fly} get really, really dirty. To put it simply, they're wild animals. They go when they want, where they want. Even if you're in the way. Now, I didn't get crapped on {yet,} but I had to help with the laundry today and boy the raccoon towels get nasty. I also had to rake up owl pellets. Not as nasty as raccoon shit, but still. It's not something that you would normally do on a day to day basis.

I really wasn't in the mood to get up and go out today, but I'm glad that I did. I really do have a good time there. Even if it is only once a week, it gets me out of the house and interacting with people other than those that I work with.

Anywho, I'm going to finish up my eggs and cheese and probably go to bed. I have to get up early tomorrow {10:30am is early for me} so that I can {finally} go get my WA license. Still have to get plates and register my car in WA, but that'll have to wait until another time. I'm lucky I even have money for the license. Which in all actuality, I really don't. But if I don't get it now, I'll just end up putting it off too long again.

After I get my license, Jacob and I will probably wander around downtown a bit. Check stuff out and whatnot. We've got some quarters now, so perhaps a stop at the arcade will be added to the agenda.

Until next time NuTang . . .

two nights in a row
Wednesday. 6.8.11 1:54 am
This is the second night in a row that I've cooked mac and cheese. Last night I cooled it off before I ate it because I wasn't sure if my mouth would still be sensitive to the heat. Tonight happened sort of the same way, but not on purpose. I cooked hot dogs as well, but I only wanted to use one burner so I made the mac and cheese first and while that was cooling, I heated the hot dogs on the already hot burner. So the meal wasn't hot, but still warm enough to enjoy.

Last night I mixed in a half heated can of Spaghettios with the mac and cheese. It was tasty. A good mix of cheesiness and tomato sauce.

Tonight's meal was just as good. You can't go wrong with hot dogs and mac and cheese. Only thing that would make the meal whole would be baked beans, but I didn't bother to buy any.

I'm really tired tonight. But I want to get through at least one more section of the math book. I'll be half way done with the 2nd chapter then. I also need to give my stomach time to digest at least some of the food I ate.

With that being said, I am off to finish the math work. Hopefully I get it done quickly so that I can pass out for the night.

ugh, no wonder I waited so long
Monday. 6.6.11 10:14 pm
I had my first dentist appointment since the mid 90s earlier this morning and it sucked. Going to the dentist is never a fun experience. Unless your teeth and gums are in top condition and you only need to go in once a year to get your teeth made extra white again.

Today was supposed to be something quick; in and out with a few x-rays and a simple clean. Nothing major. Well, considering the fact that it's been about 16 years since my last dentist visit, I should have known better.

I ended up getting about 4 Novocain injections. Two in the upper part of the right side of my mouth and two in the lower part. I needed a deep clean, which required quite a bit more scraping and picking. The whole right side of my face was numb for a few hours. I hated it. And I get to go back in a month and do it all over again on the other side. That one is going to suck even more because the teeth on the left side of my mouth are a bit more messed up than the right. I'm not sure how much good the Novocain will do if there's any sign of tooth decay ... since that hits right on the nerve.

Once I get everything cleaned, I am going to try my best to actually floss {shivers} at least once a day. Something I have never done in my life. But if it'll prevent this deep cleaning experience from ever happening again, then so be it.

In other news, I tried to get my enhanced driver's license today. Key word there: tried. I didn't have the proper documentation to prove my residency. For whatever reason I couldn't find my electric bill from last month and the pay stub wasn't enough on it's own. So since I don't have anything else on the list of "you only need to bring one from this list," I am going to dig out my W-2, which is accepted along with the pay stub. It's rather annoying, but hey, it's a necessary evil. And it'll be cool once I get it because the enhanced driver's license works the same as a passport ... when it comes to Canada. And as long as I don't fly.

Anywho, my jaw is still in pain, but I'd rather feel the pain than not feel anything at all. If you've ever had dental work that required a numbing anesthetic, you'll understand how much it sucks not being able to move the muscles in your face. I really, really just want to eat something, though. But with the pain still there, I don't want to over do it.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to eat again. Perhaps not anything hot or solid or crunchy, but something is better than nothing.

I also have another appointment for my license on Monday. That should give me time to dig out the forms I need. And hey, maybe even allow me to search and find the electric bill that would be ever so convenient.

Until next time NuTang...

belated update
Thursday. 6.2.11 12:17 am
I just realized that I never updated on how my first day of training went.

It was so much fun! It is work, but it's fun work. I mean, yeah, there's a lot of poop. I mean a lot of it. Animals don't care where they do their business. But I'm so excited to be working with the animals.

The training was slightly different than what I was supposed to get because the actual trainer called off for the night so I ended up working with a senior volunteer. I got to follow her around and help out with work that I won't be doing on my own until I've been there for a while. So technically I did stuff that I wasn't supposed to since I haven't been there long enough. No one made any complaints, though. I would like to think they were happy for the extra pair of hands. Especially when it came to feeding/cleaning the baby raccoons. They're rambunctious little critters. And the older ones are loud. And messy. But still so cute.

So I learned how to handle a baby raccoon. I also learned how to catch a bird and hold it so that it could be given it's food/medication. The method is different depending on whether the bird is big or small. Something like a robin or sparrow can be caught and held with one hand. The larger birds, like a duck or a pigeon have to be held with two hands.

I didn't get to interact with any of the larger animals {ie, the black bears or the barn owls.} That is definitely something that requires lengthy training.

My first official day will be this coming Sunday. The shift I trained on will be my "permanent" shift.

I skipped out on my school orientation/registration today. After having only gotten two hours of sleep last night and working this morning, I was just too tired. I understand that I'll have to deal with a lower amount of sleep than I've been getting, but I can make a private appointment with a counselor and register that way. I've already got the paperwork that's required to bring to the meeting. I just have to call in the morning and schedule something hopefully for Friday morning before work. It's easier to get up early and do stuff before work than it is to change your whole schedule around. I already know what class I'm going to sign up for so hopefully it won't take too long.

Jacob is so sweet! He's also really awesome. First, the awesome part. He retook his placement test today hoping to score in to a higher math class. His goal was to score in the low range for 141. He ended up testing in the high range of 142! I'm so proud of him. Now the sweet part. He sent me a couple texts with coordinates/equations to graph on his graphing calculator and told me to graph them at the same time. Once I put in the coordinates and hit graph, it came up as a tiny, little heart. It was so sweet.

Anywho, I just wanted to talk about my Wildlife training. And figured I'd add in a couple extra things. Things are going well for the most part. I have absolutely no money right now so food isn't exactly an option right now, but hey, payday is Friday so after bills I might have enough left over for ramen noodles.

Until next time NuTang ...
