You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

MMM carpets
Sunday, September 28, 2008
Somebody should bring back the news blog. I doubt it would even be a hard thing to do, since it hasn't been all that active around here for ages.

You may have noticed the titles completely unrelated to the content in my past couple entries. I've never been good with titles, recently it seems I've become even more incompetent with them.

So sorry, this entry's title is so random. I actually did base it off something this time though. There was this commercial on TV and I thought it was amusing because there was a flying van and cloud words that said "MMM Carpets!" It looked like they were trying to get people to eat their floor coverings or something...

I put my application to HPU in the uh... basket thing we have outside for the mailman to pick stuff up from. And I'm currently trying to figure out what my GPA is so I can put it on the St. John's form. (I may or may not regret this later, but I haven't researched these colleges at all and am still going with my 'take whatever accepts me and possibly transfer later' plan)

My transcript from last year says my "University GPA" is 3.1. :S BUT my last report card says my GPA is 3.833... so I've got no idea what's going on at all. (I'm trying to convince myself that a B here is an A+ at -generic highschool- but 3.1? That's like, the worst final GPA I've ever had...

(Then again, why do I care?)

We're going to call the camera place because it's been over a week and they haven't contacted us about my camera. :( He said they'd call in a couple of days...

Okay we're going to Trader Joe's so maybe I'll add to this entry later. Maybe.

Space monkeys float dreamily onward...
Saturday, September 27, 2008
HPU asked for my screen name on the application and I put it. Then I wondered if they were going to use it to -gasp!- stalk me online or something.

'Cause, y'know, I hear colleges do that sometimes.

I guess it's not technically an invasion of privacy, since blogs are kinda.... open to the world, but it doesn't seem like a good way to judge people's character. I mean, if they just picked a random page to go to, and it had a rant, some random posts about how I like eating various food items, and a weird, badly-written story about oddly named creatures that go on adventures, what would that make me look like?

"Hmm, this girl is obviously crazy and untalented. DENIED!"

I figured I'd just leave my screen name up in my profile anyway. If they e-stalk me and don't like what they see, whatever.

No point in lying just to go to college. (Part of the reason why I never joined any clubs or did extracurricular activities/took honors classes?)

Strange as it may seem to many (most?) of my college-obsessed peers, I don't believe in piling up the APs and achievements if I don't sincerely think they'll help me be a better person or positively impact my life.

I don't mind doing volunteer work, but I hate it when my mom signs me up for some without telling me.

Speaking of which, I thought I was going to do some volunteer work at a glass pumpkin festival next weekend, but apparently it's a paid job. That's cool, although I would've done it anyway. (What do you do there, though? Show people pumpkins and say "these are made of glass"?)

When I think about what kind of person I could be when I'm older, sometimes I think I'll go the way of my dad and just stop wanting material things at some point. I wouldn't be exactly like him though. If one of my kids hit another with a plastic pie server, I wouldn't freak out and start raging about how dangerous it is to hit people with knives.

I checked out The Hellbound Heart e-book from the library website. I'd much rather have it in a solid, physical form. I can only read the PDF file on this computer, so it's kind of annoying since I do a lot of my reading in my bed, late at night. I must admit though, it's kind of neat that I can fix the typos and stuff in the document, even if only I can see them.

Watched part of Fast Food Nation earlier. Some of the things that go on are kind of awful. My mom showed me The Meatrix in the special features, and it was so horrible... Apparently they cut the beaks off chickens in factory-farms so the birds won't fight each other. Hearing that made me sick. That's just wrong on so many levels, and if I actually believed in the place, I'd say the people who started that should go to hell. Or maybe just... y'know... be grated to death or something.

I'd really like to have all my food be cruelty-free, but sadly price usually makes more of a difference in my family than anything else.

Zone out random life updates
Friday, September 26, 2008
I put something new on my deviantART.

It's just a visual representation of something I've talked about before.

My essay ended up being okay. I guess it kind of went off-topic at the end... Got distracted, y'know?

Varsha came over after school... we didn't do much. Ate some cinnamon swirl bread and watched TV. Fuzzy TV.... we have to complain to the cable company or something, that new box is screwing things up.

---

Okay a Comcast guy just came over. I guess he was going to fix the problem BUT my parents went to a debate party so we have to wait until tomorrow.

---

I really hate Cartoon Network's new theme. If you watch it, you know. All the weird... round-shaped people things that they put pictures of characters on.... it seems really uncreative to me and I just don't like it at all... Also, what happened to letting the shows do their own credits? Now they have the same background for every show, this rainbow thing that shrinks down to half the size of the screen so you can see that the Clone Wars are on and oh, it's such a big deal that they changed Thursdays to "Star Star Stardays" or some other such crap.

Bleh.

---

AIM has been really dead lately.

---Edit---

I totally forgot, I got my senior portrait proofs today. They're horrible. I tried to pick the least horrible one but mehhhhhh. :(

Sandwiches are pretty good
Friday, September 26, 2008
This is SO going on my wishlist for whatever holiday is giving presents next.

Dr. McNinja book 1
Dr. McNinja book 2

And of course, the thing I ask for every year, Bop-It Extreme 2.

WHY DOES NO ONE EVER CARE ABOUT THE BOP-IT EXTREME 2!

This is way too early for a Christmas post. So it's not. It's about my new second favorite webcomic, Dr. McNinja! Well, not really. But it is actually my new second favorite webcomic. First is still Girly.

I really want a Bop-It Extreme 2. :|

....

What the hell...

Wikipedia says:

When Bop It Extreme 2 was released, they added a "one on one" game. Two players hold bop it on each side. When they hear "Bop it!" or the base drum sound on beat bop, both players try to hit their color. On Bop It Extreme 2, the colors are green and yellow. Damn niglets. On Bop It Blast, the 2 colors are blue and green and on Bop it Download, the colors are green and yellow (the same colors as Bop It Extreme 2).

:S

I'm eating some spinach flatbread pizza stuff from Trader Joe's. It's yummy. :P

Think I'm going to stop asking for the spanakopitas though. Those haven't been so great lately... :|

In Weight Training we sort of did double dutch. Pretty much the whole class went outside to jump rope even though we were supposed to be lifting and stuff and we tied some jump ropes together and swung them around. Mostly everyone was watching us as we tried to get each other to go through. Eventually a guy tried to do it but failed. :P

Right now I'm still trying to finish my essay. Thankfully it's due tomorrow.... Well, the rough draft, I mean. The final copy is due on Friday though. :S (Originally the rough draft was supposed to be due yesterday but she changed it for some reason)

---

I just got twenty five dollars as a belated birthday gift. :D

Still no card from Gwenny though. :(

---Edit---

Just discovered Brian Despain's art and I gotta say, it's pretty amazing.... (I wish I could do stuff like that!)

If I had the money I would probably buy everything he made...

Sweet heat
Monday, September 22, 2008
Okay, so the title sounds really.... wrong... in a weird way.

This soy jerky is sweet though. And it's the Hot & Spicy one or whatever it's called so you get this burning sensation when you eat it.

Uhh what happened at school.... OH! All that cutting and pasting paid off, my Physio teacher wanted to use my comic as an example. :D [Yay!]

Hehe, now future generations of asian losers will try to live up to the standard I've set.

I keep listening to Comfort Eagle by Cake 'cause it's an awesome song. It.... flows... or something... really well.

This morning I was really afraid I was going to be late for school. D: The first (five minute) bell rang when I was across the street from campus (again) and I kinda crossed where there wasn't a crosswalk but that bitchy (I rarely, RARELY, use that word seriously, so you know I mean it when I say it...) crossing guard wasn't there to harass me so it's all fine. I got there in good time though, actually. So I didn't really need to worry... but I gotta remember that it's not good to leave fifteen minutes before school actually starts if I want to take my time and admire my surroundings.... surroundings I see every school day, without fail...

When I'm at school I really want to just drink gallons of soda until I'm sick. Dunno why. It seems appealing though....

-Gag- Bacon lollipops.

I love the text at the bottom of this...
