Sharp teeth test your skin
too late, you let an angel in
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
―D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
―Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
―Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories — if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
―The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

“The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road.”
― Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

Okay, so the title sounds really.... wrong... in a weird way.

This soy jerky is sweet though. And it's the Hot & Spicy one or whatever it's called so you get this burning sensation when you eat it.

Uhh what happened at school.... OH! All that cutting and pasting paid off, my Physio teacher wanted to use my comic as an example. :D [Yay!]

Hehe, now future generations of asian losers will try to live up to the standard I've set.

I keep listening to Comfort Eagle by Cake 'cause it's an awesome song. It.... flows... or something... really well.

This morning I was really afraid I was going to be late for school. D: The first (five minute) bell rang when I was across the street from campus (again) and I kinda crossed where there wasn't a crosswalk but that bitchy (I rarely, RARELY, use that word seriously, so you know I mean it when I say it...) crossing guard wasn't there to harass me so it's all fine. I got there in good time though, actually. So I didn't really need to worry... but I gotta remember that it's not good to leave fifteen minutes before school actually starts if I want to take my time and admire my surroundings.... surroundings I see every school day, without fail...

When I'm at school I really want to just drink gallons of soda until I'm sick. Dunno why. It seems appealing though....

I love the text at the bottom of this...

I don't feel different yet
Sunday, September 21, 2008
So I had my birthday party yesterday. It was pretty good, I guess. I got some giftcards and stuff, and a drawing from Lucy.

Daydrah and Alice used a car and finished the scavenger hunt in twenty minutes. X|

Tiffany and I were last place and did not find everything. (But we were close!)

Some Mexican dudes whistled at us when we were walking home from the park. it was kinda creepy but whatever.

My camera is still not fixed. :( Well, either that or the repair place just hasn't gotten around to saying anything yet. Both, I would think.

We got a cake from Whole Foods that was very yummy. I usually hate the frosting between layers but being in the fridge made the filling (buttercream?) harder, like ice cream. I had a piece of the cake for breakfast with milk but I regretted it 'cause I couldn't finish. :(

I wanna go shopping still. When we went to Whole Foods yesterday we didn't have enough time to really look at everything because my party started at eleven. In the short time we were browsing, I picked up some soy jerky, though. :D

[I ate some yesterday; I'd forgotten how sweet it was :S]

Last night I was sitting on my bed, watching my birthday end. The clock seemed to be skipping time whenever I looked away... There was thirty minutes left and then twenty five, then three...

But now I'm seventeen. I don't feel it yet, but that's okay...

This might have been my last birthday party...

---

I've been thinking about DC more lately. I wonder where he is, what he's doing, if he misses anything....

---

Dark Corners was on Sci Fi last night. I didn't see all of it but what I saw, I thought was interesting. I'm hoping I can see it again soon... it seems like one of the strangely special movies.... the ones that don't feel like dead ends somehow...

[Maybe my being-out-of-it wasn't caused by chemicals after all...]

---

Seventeen years seems like too long of a time to live.

---

AHA! I knew it! The guy from Dark Corners did play Jay Gatsby!

We got a watermelon for tomorrow at the new Trader Joe's and I dropped it when I was trying to put it in the fridge. :/

So.... I'm thinking that we won't be having it tomorrow. Maybe we can cut it into cubes or something, I dunno.... but slices definitely won't fly.

Hawaii Pacific University sent me a "Premier Application." Basically this means that I just have to fill it out and send my SAT scores. No essay, no recommendations, no application fee. I figure I might as well do it, since it's pretty much free.

And if I manage to get in, I'll have SOMEWHERE to go, even though I don't really want to go to school in Hawaii.

I'm listening to Battles right now. Leyendecker, specifically. The end is a little weird but overall it's a nice song for something with no words.

We got lots of stuff for my party (which actually, not a whole bunch of people are coming to). I'm hoping there's enough for people.

Lunch is kinda sorta covered now.... (we got salmon and ciabatta rolls, some lettuce, and hummus- might need to get cheese) But we didn't get Jamba Juice giftcards. X|

Working a little on my Beowulf outline/essay. I'm honestly surprised this isn't turning out like utter crap. But for once in... three? years, I'm actually seeing connections and symbolism in the story, and I have something to say about it.... I don't want to sound conceited but I think this might really turn out well....

---

I got 17 out of 15 on my homeostasis comic strip. :D

Bleh, rewrite

I was kinda half-writing an entry and surfing the KoL Wiki when my IE windows closed....

Not that the entry was super interesting or anything. And I don't really care at all. Just thought I'd say something.

---Edit---

Message received after attaching my (actually good, I'm surprised) Beowulf essay outline to an email:

(I added the exclamation mark for more emphasis)

---End of edit---

Made ginger oatmeal cookies yesterday. I'm fairly certain I will make them again in the future, as they were very yummy. And everyone who tried them agreed with me. About the taste, I mean.

My mom is home from Singapore. Right now she's either sleeping or out, I can't tell since the door to my parents' room is closed. Ah well. I'll find out later.

Saturday is my birthday/party. I don't believe I've had the party on the same day as my birthday in a while. Few years, at least.

Hopefully- HOPEFULLY, everyone (or a good majority of the people I invited) will come. I still have to figure out lunch, and maybe a few more items for the scavenger hunt list, but other than that I think I'm pretty set.

I was considering getting a few movies in case some people don't want to do the hunt. So this is more like a big hangout than a party, but I hope that's okay with people. I just want it to be casual.... And also I feel really uncomfortable when everyone's attention is on me. Like when I was younger and I'd invite the whole class and all of them would want to be around me.

Just got another call with silence on the other end. :| My mom picked it up too, so I know she's here... but I wish I could figure out who keeps calling and hanging up/not saying anything!

---Edit---

I've been thinking of a way to do the mirror box for several years now. It's something to do with seeing eternity... but in order to see in there has to be light inside and I want it so that there's nothing in the box...

Anyway, this music video just got me thinking about that again. Also it's not a half bad song. (Battles is an interesting band)

I saw this shirt for Squirrel Nut Zippers and then looked them up. Their music isn't what I normally listen to, but it's more interesting with the video I think.

I'm not super into misheard lyrics, and I know this is in German, but that's what I just thought I heard. :P

My dad tried to fix my camera and couldn't. So I'm hoping I can take it to this repair place near the mall. Well, a mall. I'm not really sure which one is "the" mall.

I made the recipe on the Tillamook package and they turned out to just be mini cheese popovers.

Note: I dislike popovers. They're too spongy inside for my tastes...

I ate a bunch of them anyway. :| Probably too many, actually.... I'm starting to feel kinda sick. :S

Not much going on with Nutang at the moment it seems, so I think I'll play Diablo II.

---Edit---

Here's the song I was talking about. (Frau Feat. I-Robots by Boys Noize)
