You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

More mental fatigue... joyfulness

I'm working on several different projects at the moment.

-Read my entire History textbook/"study" for SAT II Subject Test
-Finish History project (slideshow)
-Write MG Goldfrapp review
-Finish final project for MG, soundtrack to my life
-Work on French project due May 13
->Read story
->Fill out questions
->Draw comic strip summary
-Come up with something for Praetorian with brighter colors

At my current rate it should probably take a little more than ten days to read my whole textbook. :/ So much for doing it over the weekend... I gotta remember all this crap, too.

The layout idea/banner for Praetorian is probably the easiest thing to do at the moment, but for some reason I don't feel like really working on that. I just can't motivate myself...

I absolutely have to finish the slideshow by Monday.

The French project is second priority after that.

Music Genesis stuff can be delayed a little further.

Tireddddddddddddddd.

I'm making an attempt to read my entire History book
Saturday, May 10, 2008
That's pretty much how I'm going to study for the SAT II. At least, the US History part. Like I need to study for the Literature part?

So I haven't started that yet... I was planning to do this over the weekend but I got sidetracked. So I'll probably just read the horrible text I dislike and try to make it interesting so I remember all of it.

Like that's going to happen. I hate History.

I went to visit Alice today. My mom stayed in the room with us while we talked... :S I was wondering if I should've brought her something, because everyone else seemed to have gotten her a present or gift. I always figured those things were for celebrations though, and this doesn't seem like something you celebrate.

She has very little respect for doctors. :| Personally I'm more of a don't-question-the-professionals type person, but she's a bit stubborn. Most of the time I was there she was talking about the food they feed her and how she doesn't like it... and then she was complaining about the people there.

They won't let her out until her vital signs are better. And who KNOWS how long that'll be?

-Sigh-

There are a lot of vending machines in that hospital for some reason. And there was this strange sign on the door...

Leninade!

We went to Nob Hill (which looks strangely like Whole Foods) and they had some yummy sodas.

I got a Raspberry Lime Rickey! :D

It has this awesome cotton candy aftertaste thing going on. Best soda everrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Only problem is that now I want another one. :|

The Whole Foods atmosphere confused me and I started looking for cheese Nut Thins, only to be sorely disappointed. Better Crocker products lined the shelves, out of their traditional environment.

The big generic brands are supposed to live in supermarkets that look like sterile 60's hospitals, not earth-tone organic-feel grocery stores.

Blah.

It's about time I posted these

Yes, there was some delay in getting these up. But they're here now, so, unless Nutang has some horrible inexplicable downtime, they are here for your viewing (dis)pleasure.

It's the offset pineapple.

I swear, it's like... the Mystery Spot only with fruit.

There was a dead dove outside on the patio that I had to bury...

Maybe it's gross and I know it's unsanitary but I just had to touch the feathers to see what they felt like. I mean, I'll probably never have another chance to... "pet" a dove. Sadly though, it wasn't that soft or fluffy. Perhaps rigor mortis set in on the feathers, too.

I was trying to draw what I've dubbed the "sexy eyebrow."

Dunno why but I have a weird thing for drawing eyes. Although I've probably mentioned that here before...

Marina made a face with the half-Cheerios.

It has one ear because apparently there wasn't another one we could use for the other ear.

We went to a dessert silent auction around Santa Cruz and there was this sign.

I read it and couldn't keep myself from bursting out laughing. Wording, people, watch your wording.

Today wasn't too bad. Alice wasn't here because she has... health problems. I'm thinking about going to visit her but I haven't got a set date yet.

In Lit. over half the class was missing because of AP testing so we just watched a movie. Then we had twenty minutes of free time to do whatever. I talked with Laura and AJ for a while, then Laura and I were discussing our jean sizes and how we have fat hips and such and AJ just had this embarrassed look on his face... It was funny. We were laughing at him and he was like "I'm just ignoring it..." but I said "Nah, he's listening, he just doesn't want to comment."

So yeah, nothing really exciting today. Oh, but I got a cherry limeade lollipop that was pretty good. Yeah...

Laugh...zors

I found this on adreen 's page and it's keeping me amused for now.

I suck at citations
Thursday, May 1, 2008
So I just fixed my bibliography for the second time. And I am NOT printing out the whole paper just to get that one page. It's a waste, man. He wouldn't even look at the rest, anyway. I'll just paperclip the Works Cited page on top of the stack and hand it in... again.

Damn MLA format.

I helped Alice and Nayana with their Spanish project afterschool today. They were making some sort of Spanish cake things... My presence there was pretty much pointless, but it was justified because I was giving them "moral support" and Alice wanted me there.

Nayana had some Pepto-Bismint ice cream. (Peppermint, but for some reason it was pink)

That sounds like a picture caption but there's no picture... my apologies.

We had class elections today AND I got to go to two, not one, TWO, sessions of the GSA panel. Oh boy! (The sarcasm is dripping off my words like syrup)

So basically I spent a long freaking time in the auditorium today. It's not that I don't support GSA, I do, I just don't think I needed to go in there to listen to the exact same thing twice.

I'm tired... not that hungry, though. I had a ginger ale at Alice's and a cucumber when I got home. Marina ate the Cheerios I brought to school...

-Sigh-
