You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Being "that" girl?
Friday, June 24, 2011
You know that girl who complains about the woes of being pretty? Like "ugh, I hate that guys are always asking me out, can't they tell I'm just not interested? I just wish they'd leave me alone, you know what I mean?"

And everybody else is like "no, I don't know what you mean. I was too busy being ugly and invisible to the sex I'm attracted to, sorry."

Well, I don't want to be "that" girl, but sometimes... Sometimes I feel like I'm getting close to being her. There's really no good way to talk about these things without sounding like her, or maybe coming off as shallow or self-absorbed.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut yeah... lately I've had a couple messages on OKC (yes, I'm still on there... perhaps not very prudent on my part, but I do love talking to strangers on the internet X|) that were from people who had very obviously not read my profile.

Messages that only say "you're cute" tell me several things:

1. He did not read my profile, because:
a. if he had, he would have noticed that I'm only looking for friends/pen pals
b. I specifically ask that people who message me have something to say
c. he had nothing to say besides "you're cute," despite the fact that there are plenty of things he could comment on... had he read my profile

2. He's too damn lazy to read my profile and/or type out a message longer than one line.

3. He's not very smart, because he thinks that such a lackluster message won't get him an equally lackluster response.

Seriously... what do these guys think? That reading "you're cute" will make a girl swoon and reply back "gee thanks! Nobody has ever been able to gaze upon my visage without becoming physically ill before! LET US HAVE PASSIONATE SEX AS SOON AS POSSIBLE."

Anyway, that's my complaining about people finding me attractive and being honest about it. Well, honest and lazy/thoughtless in their approach. So I guess the problem is not that they find me attractive, but that they couldn't make the effort to pretend that wasn't the only reason they wanted to talk to me. Wow, that was pretty cynical of me.

Here is a relevant video to finish off the post:

SODAAAA
Sunday, June 19, 2011
This new soda/candy shop opened in Campbell, and we stopped by after hitting the farmers market.

My parents graciously allowed me to pick out four drinks (my mom chose two root beers).

From left to right: Margo's Bark Root Beer, Always Ask For Avery's Swamp Juice ("Fruit Mix" flavor), Buckin' Root Beer, Rocket Fizz Green Apple Jalapeno, Calypso Triple Melon Lemonade, and Moxie.

You can't see how gross the Swamp Juice looks in this picture, but it's a pretty nasty pukey green. I'm reserving that one for my brother. XD

I was pretty excited to see that the store carried Calypso lemonades. I had actually just been checking them out (on the internet of course) a little while before we went to this shop. Having heard good reviews for them, I was curious, but you can only get them through Amazon, it seems, and there's no way I would buy a single drink over the internet. Just too much of a hassle and not worth the money.

As far as Moxie goes, I've heard it's sort of a love it or hate it kinda beverage. I guess I'll see how I feel about it soon enough...

Oh yeah, and this came today:

:D

I don't know if any of you guys read reMIND (it's in the KtB module), but it's a really high quality comic with a good storyline. I highly encourage reading it, though unfortunately it's a bit late to get in on the preorder discount now if you want to get yourself one of these lovely hardbound copies.

Uhhhhhhhh what else... Oh, I'm headed into Finals Week, so wish me good luck I suppose? I'm not worried about two of the tests, but Oceanography could be a problem... :|

Hair update of no consequence
Tuesday, June 14, 2011
A tune I've been listening to as of late:

I was wearing tights today, and the velcro on my bag stuck to them and pulled out some material. :/

In better news, I've got only a week left of school-related events! I would say finals, but I have to go to a party for the school literary magazine (which I need to help organize) next Wednesday. It'll basically be everybody who got into the book reading their submission(s). Funnnnnnnnnn. I did get a submission in, but I requested anonymity, so I won't be reading mine.

On... Friday I think? I'm getting a haircut (finally). Any suggestions as to what I should get? I'm thinking I might go back to short hair... but an actual haircut of some sort, not what I had during my "emo" phase. I've got a lot of split ends, and I kind of feel like cutting a large portion of my hair off is the only way to get rid of them... (From root to tip it's over two feet long, so I have a lot of range in the type of cut I can get)

Right now my hair is down past the small of my back. It's a horrible nuisance to deal with, and I'd like to have it shorter again. It gets caught in everything, tangled easily, and really... it's not looking good. People still tell me the long hair looks nice, but I think it's past the point where people are genuinely complimenting me, and towards the point where people are just stunned (not in a good way) that it's so long.

Any ideas for a haircut... just comment.

Dubstep? Maybe?
Sunday, June 5, 2011
Listening to Point B. Good good good stuff.

I think it might sort of fall under the dubstep category, but I'm not sure. There's the bad, generic dubstep that all sounds the same, and then there's stuff like this. I'm not much of an expert on the genre, so I can't really say.

So... my phone broke. Not in such a way that it's been rendered unusable, but it's still sort of bad. The flap broke off. I managed to glue part of it back on, so I can still lock the phone, but the keys are exposed now. Gonna have to get a new phone. :|

I'm overdue for a new one anyway, but I didn't see any I liked the last time we went to the store. Blahhhhhh. All I want is something small that will fit into my pocket!

Eh but really, I'm not in much of a complaining mood. Feel pretty indifferent to things overall. Think I'll end the entry here.
