You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Freshies, Sophs... Frosh?
Thursday, August 24, 2006
Well school so far has (obviously) been a drag. And I would say that even if I did like it, because I happen to be a stubborn person and I don't voice opinion changes very often.

There are a LOT of freshies around campus now. It's like the school has a whole new pest problem... except they're people. A big bunch of freshies invaded me and my friends' spot... We managed to push them out but it was kind of weird.... one of the freshies was line dancing....

Anyway, I had my first project assigned today. Apparently everyone else with Tiederman in other periods learned about it days ago. Even though school only started on Monday... but yeah. So it's due tomorrow. I did an okay job, used some colored pencils (I don't know why but that always makes it look better even if I've completely ruined it), and then realized just how awful it really was (this happens a lot). Thankfully I was able to overcome my perfectionist tendencies and the project, which happens to be one of those lame "let's get to know you" type things, was safely transported to my backpack.

I'm still kind of sad I didn't get Advanced Foods. Getting rid of a class like that is like Tofurkey; it's just wrong. I haven't tested my potential yet! Now how will I know if I can excel in a culinary career?! THEY'RE CUTTING THE PATH TO MY DEMISE!!!!

School (play Psycho music here)
Wednesday, August 16, 2006
Man I don't want school to start so soon. I'm pretty sure being a sophomore will suck. And this is not based on other people's opinions. This is from observation. Every sophomore I knew looked a lot less happy than the other grades. Plus there's that exit exam thing... and longer days... bleh.

In other non-complaining news, I really hope I can get a good digital camera soon.

Airport Trouble
Friday, August 11, 2006
Well I got back from Hawaii yesterday, and boy, was it a pain. We had to wait for a commuter flight in L.A. and they wouldn't let anybody bring any sort of liquids on. All they told us was that there was some sort of terrorist attack in London. Seriously.... LONDON. We weren't even GOING to London. We were going to San Jose.... but noooooo "you can't bring any liquids" they told us. Stupid terrorists.... I think America is getting a little too paranoid.

Cakes and cookies and all that good stuff
Thursday. 7.13.06 5:24 pm
I've been baking lately. I made peanut butter cookies from this recipe in the Martha Stewart magazine (even though she kinda freaks me out sometimes) and a chocolate cake (from SCRATCH!) for my brother's 13th birthday, which was on the 11th.

Making cake and frosting it is kind of hard. I got frosting everwhere... (frosting was from scratch too, yay for me!) and I had to clean up pretty much the whole kitchen. But everyone liked my cake. Except for me. Because I don't like cake. I prefer salty stuff... like popcorn.

Making sorbet is easier I think. All you have to do is pure some fruit and add some sugar and juice and freeze it or use an ice cream maker. Mmmm good stuff.

I'm still not sure what I want to do when I get older, but a career in the culinary arts might not be so bad...

Yeah....
Wednesday. 7.5.06 6:24 pm
Well I felt like doing a long entry so here goes:

4th of July was okay, not really that into fireworks. You'd think it'd be warm, seeing as it's summer and it's California, but noooooo. It was freezing cold and it sucked.

Just sitting here.... looking around.... what's this?

Wicked Lasers: Portable Death Star Laser

No matter the destination, every journey with a Wicked Laser starts from the same point. It's the point where technology, craftsmanship, innovation, and dreams converge. Where passion encounters purpose.
Cut Tape, Pop Balloons, Ignite Matches, Light Cigarettes

I don't know why, but I find that very funny. It just seems so.... I dunno... geeky?

One minute later: it's one of those laser thingys that shines light on stuff! Except it's green! And it burns things!

Well you know what, I still think it's geeky. Even if it cuts through tape and does other stuff that really isn't that important. I mean, seriously, lighting a match? Those things can get lit on their own. You don't need to have some laser thing to ignite it.

Okay, now that I'm done going on about meaningless stuff....

My brother was watching American Dragon Jake Long.... and they changed the style. Like the drawing stuff I mean. It used to be okay, but now it just looks awful. Everybody is like... worse looking. And the grandpa dude doesn't have feet, which is weird. For some cartoons, when they change the animation it's okay, but in this case it was BAD. Seriously, it was bearable before, but now? Nuh uh, NO.

Hmmmm come to think of it, who am I telling this to?

Man, it is so HOT! Tomorrow they'll have used up all the free bus days. It's crazy. But.... at least we get free bus rides. Can go anywhere for free! Yay!

I hope it doesn't get much hotter.
