You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Pigeons, pigeons, all around

Getting their rather greasy feathers all over me...

We went to a beach today, and I fed pigeons. They ate right from my hand. They ate right on my hand, in fact. I had one that kept jumping over my arm to get a better shot at the bread.

Got a video, shall upload it when I return home.

Short updates:

-We are not, unfortunately, going to the waterpark tomorrow :(
-Varsha appears to be in a bad mood
-I can put cans of juice in the freezer and they make a nice slush
-The girl from Ipanema is tall, tan, young, and lovely, and when she passes, each one she passes goes "ah"

There is a luau we are going to tomorrow. Normally this is quite the tourist-y affair, with big colorful leis and pasty white chaps in floral print shirts and khakis, with sunblock on their red noses and tan hats on their heads.

I am told, however, that the one we are attending will not be such a horrendous and cheesy bore. The people staying at my grandma's house will be roasting a pig in the backyard, and we will all go over and supposedly have quite the jolly good time.

Watching a whole pig roast will perhaps make me feel uncomfortable, but I can try and look away and maybe eat.... uh... rice.

I was doing a good job not eating too much, but then I caved at the last minute and ate a bunch of Triscuits with tuna and olives. :( Not the best snack, but rather filling, and more nutritious than some, I would think.

Ah well, I'll lose ten pounds some other time.

Home in a few days

My mom said she had a surprise for us this afternoon. She told us she found two "surprises".

And you know what?

They were kittens.

Little, maybe three week old kittens.

I wish I could show you the pictures.

---Edit---

Oh, and I got a swimsuit today. Original price: $102. Price we paid: $14.99 [plus tax].

W00t.

(Although it is a bikini... so that means tank top + board shorts if I ever go swimming for some inexplicable reason.)

---

Did I already say that at the PCC we saw this guy who seemed rather aroused by his performance? He was making fire and then he was talking and he kept like... kind of semi-humping the air. It was quite noticeable from our position. And quite amusing. Heh.

Second long day
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
So Lucy arrived yesterday, and we've been doing some stuff.

We spent half an hour yesterday trying to find each other at the airport. Fun stuff... Then we went to Pali Lookout and walked around in the wind for a while, and when we were done with that we went to a crack seed store and got some Icees. Good stuff.

Returned to the house, rested for a bit (napped/watched the "World's Ugliest Dog Contest" or something).

Went back out again later and got shave ice. Lucy enjoyed her first time having it. :P

And.... sometime later we went to Ala Moana and shopped around. They have an American Apparel store there, which is pretty cool. It's really packed with interesting clothes, and higher quality stuff too, not that Made in China crap.

I saw a hoodie I liked, but it was $50 so my mom didn't feel like lending me the money to get it. Ah well.

Today... well, my phone woke us up around six-ish. It was some stupid ass call about "lowering my credit card rates". See, before I had a cell phone, I never had to deal with this...

Lucy didn't feel too well so we stayed around the house until oh, eleven, and then went hiking.

The trail was a bit muddy, but that wasn't the issue. It was humid and the air was still. HORRIBLE combination. It felt really long going up, but it was great when we finally got there. Going down was a lot faster...

After we got back we were all hot and sweaty, so we showered off and waited around for my mom/brother/brother's friend to come back. (They went farther on the trail than we did)

More shave ice, and then we drove to the house again. Lounged around some more, showed Lucy Diablo II, and at around eight we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory. It was Lucy's first time there, too. The food was good, like it usually is, and we had fun going the wrong way on the escalators. :P

Oh yeah, and our waiter was a total RCB. (Hey, bringing back the ol' slangz0rs)

Seriously, super cute. :D

Waikiki after dinner, not much to report there. We wandered around for a while trying to find Lucy a restroom, and were finally successful in this... kind of closed-for-the-night shopping center. And Lucy said there was a guy checking me out, but I didn't see him. She said he was looking at me and like, smiling, waiting for me to look back, but I didn't so... too bad. (Oops?)

I never notice this sort of thing, but she says that there have been more guys checking her (us?) out here. Doesn't happen back home.

Of course, the guys back home are usually uptight asian [I want to say losers...] overachievers, so I dunno what you can expect from that.

This entry was very relevant to my comic about how I made $100 on Nutang. Hehe.

What's happening to my slang vocabulary? :0
Saturday, July 25, 2009
I keep saying things like "kick" and "dig" and "chunky" and "rock".

I'm not even sure where I picked them up, but lately they've been popping up in my speech. "Slick" was around for a short run, but it died. I don't really like it.

Anyway, I'm on a disco kick. (See?!)

[Holy hot potatoes, that code was long before I cut it off...]

It's not exactly disco, but it does have the sound.

Been watching The Nanny a lot more lately, so I keep getting "Oh Mista SHEFFIELLLLD!" in my head. I'm starting to wonder if it won't pop out of my mouth accidentally when I'm talking to somebody.

"So yeah, what do you think about going to the beach?"
"Oh Mista Sheffielllllld!"
-Awkward silence-

I stayed up until 4 AM last night listening to the song in the previous entry. Terrible. D:

Breaking out of stereotypes
Tuesday, July 21, 2009
Yesterday we went to Ala Moana to shop, and when we were in the Bodyshop this big tall black guy walked in and said "what is that great smell?"

Now, he didn't have that flamboyant metrosexual voice, he wasn't dressed in metro clothes, and he did not seem feminine in any way. Hell, he was pretty much the opposite of all that.

So he goes around the store, picking up random stuff and smelling it, and then his two friends come in and start harassing him.

They're like "we might start questioning your sexuality" or something like that, and he just picks up one of the perfumes or something and says "are you gonna tell me this don't smell nice?"

It was pretty funny. I wasn't trying to listen in but the store was pretty small so it was hard not to.

Then after they left he started talking to himself a little and he was like "yeah I'm gonna get me some o' this bodyspray."

I guess it wouldn't be as amusing if there had been products for men there. :P

---Edit---

Damn, for some reason this computer won't let me have Omegle and Pandora open at the same time for very long. First it separates them from tabs into windows, and then it closes Omegle. D:

Whoever I was talking to might've thought I was being rude. :/

(I am rather certain I'm the only person on Omegle who doesn't disconnect merely to be polite...)

---

Damnit, the person from Norway went to the bathroom and Omegle told me the connection imploded. :( -Sigh-

Grandma seizure cam (this is not a video)
Thursday, July 16, 2009
Well guys, it's that time of year again. I'm in Hawaii.

My dad wanted me to blog. (Lately he's been doing that, talking about how I should take pictures of the places I go so I can remember things and such)

Not much to report, really. We went to Jack's Restaurant for breakfast this morning, like we often do when we're here. Doe Fang wasn't open yet.

Ummm my brother and his friend (he brought someone this year) left after eating to walk around, because my dad wasn't finished with his coffee yet, and I stayed there. Then we went to look for them, and couldn't find them anywhere. Finally we decided to just go home, since the odds were that they were already dead. I mean that they had walked home. Same thing, you know.

My mom drove up just as we were leaving and we tried calling my brother's friend's cell phone, but he didn't pick up, so she drove us back to the house. And it turned out that they were, indeed, home.

Also my brother came down the stairs and asked me if I knew where a plunger was, and when I said he should ask our uncle, he went downstairs or wherever to do that. A few minutes later he returned with the needed item and said "you should've asked him, it could've been my birthday present."

Nice to know there's not much expected from me. :P

Oh and I found out that there's a doctor/professor guy who uses a video of my grandma having a seizure to educate his students.

My uncle asked me if I wanted to see the video, but that would be really creepy, so I declined.
