You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

I've been watching my cousin Nolan... he's two and a half. There's no 'terrible twos' going on here, he's a very well behaved kid. In a general sense, I mean.

He's got a thing for pretzels... And drool. He drools a lot.

Got a bunch of pictures of him and stuff.

In the backyard.

He found some old bird perches on the patio and was wandering around, holding them.

Safari hat.

Probably a leftover from when I used to have my birthday parties at the Jungle.

Train conductor hat.

(He likes that one more)

That football ('baba') is pretty big, but he's also pretty small.

Not too great with the scooter.

He very much enjoys washing cars with 'wawa'.

Getting more wawa.

Child labor? No, of course not, what are you talking about?

I took him to the playground (well, carried him there mostly) and we stayed there for an hour (two hours, according to my mom). Somehow some gum got onto my shoe so I was cleaning it off with some tanbark. He apparently found this very exciting, and watched me in awe. A few minutes later he got his own piece of tanbark and started picking at his shoe. It was really funny. :P

Whenever he sees a car he says something that sounds kind of like 'dada'. I'm not sure, exactly. The sight of motor vehicles is very interesting to him... As is the moon during the day; he kept pointing to it and saying "moon!"

And now, having carried him a lot and whatnot, I'm rather tired. I need to get back into shape...

My mom just told me that the school recommended I see a counselor. :S I have no memory of this, so she thinks I blocked it out. Yet I feel I would remember something like this.... I keep a paper journal, so if it happened within the last four years or so I would have a written record of it... but I don't see anything. I'M SO CONFUSED.

Ah, okay, we figured it out. My middle school recommended me in seventh grade, because I spent all my time in the library.

Adjectives and ramblings
Tuesday, August 5, 2008
I was thinking about clocks, and food, and adjectives. And then I started wondering.

How would you combine the three to make an understandable comment?

"This bagel is half past delicious."

"I disagree, I think it's a quarter to yummy."

"Why have you tasted my bagel?"

Oh, the conversations that go on in my head.

Sometimes there are things that need to be described, but you can't describe them with adjectives because they just don't cut it.

Romeo is being very fluffy today, but when I put it like that it sounds normal. No, I have to say "Romeo has a large fluffiness today," because it makes it sound more dramatic. Although it also kind of sounds like he has a tumor or something. But he doesn't.

That's just the risk you have to take though. Being misunderstood. Yep.

I have no idea what I'm talking about so I'm going to stop now.

I keep having this urge to say "Arghenblargh" for some reason.

Davey is so cute in this video. :D

"He would be taking a shower with dry ice"
Monday, August 4, 2008
... Said Sophia, trying to explain her answer to a riddle we were looking at.

She was wrong, of course. But she argued her case for a while.

At around four-ish she called me and asked if I wanted to hang out. Since I didn't have anything better to do, I said sure, why not. I took a shower, she came over, and we played a few board/card games. First was Stratego, which I lost because her flag was surrounded by bombs and all my miners got killed.

Second was Blink, which is just Speed with different cards.

Third was Set, which was kind of boring, so we gave up on it.

Fourth was Phase 10, which I'd never played before and I pretty much lost.

She asked if I had Uno, I thought I did, so we looked and discovered this game where there's a bunch of riddles you have to solve. Since the gameboard was apparently missing, we just tried to figure out the questions. It was fun. Then she had to leave around six-ish.

I didn't really do a lot today, but that's alright with me.

Playing around with GIMP...

Yeah, nothing really exciting to report. I decided I didn't really want the Girly books, but the posters are looking pretty good right now, so I might get those.

I can get them signed for only two dollars more... and overall this is a pretty good price. But I really need to stop talking and start buying. :P (I wish SWR would bring the red tape hoodie back, I am in serious need of a replacement)

I hath drunketh too much soda :(
Sunday, August 3, 2008
I know I need to stay away from the HFC but this grape soda was just calling to me from the fridge and.... I gave in. :(

Dunno if I REALLY needed it... I mean, I was in my parents bathroom and then there was this spider and I screamed and ran out and... got a soda. Somehow that seemed like the best solution.

Second one today. I feel so bad. X|

And now there are no more grape sodas to make me feel happy.

Hanging out with Varsha and Lucy today was fun. I sat on the playground for twenty minutes trying to figure out where everyone was, then I turned around and Lucy was sitting on a bench in the horseshoe arena so I went over and asked how long she'd been waiting. She said ten minutes. Varsha apparently had to eat lunch so she didn't show until a little while afterwards.

We talked, and Lucy showed us some stuff from her trip to the East Coast/Canada/East US Area.

After that we walked to Varsha's mom's place, hung out in her room, looked at her senior portraits, showed Lucy something that shall not be named, and tried to fix her electronic drum set. We failed that last one.

I can't remember why, but we went downstairs. Then we sat on the couch and talked for a long time about stuff and friends and... more stuff. We got a little hungry so we went to Yiassoo and got food. Varsha got a falafel thing, Lucy got a gyro, I got a gigantic spanakopita that was awesome, and we shared some (I can't spell the name) cinnamon balls that were sheer amazingness. Or, as Varsha puts it, "little drops of Heaven."

Also I found out you can write notes on receipts using your fingernails because somehow the paper darkens when you press into it... Or maybe it was just that paper. But I scratched "2.42 OWE LUCY" into it.

Then we walked back to Varsha's mom's place and sat in the gazebo for a while and talked more. Lucy had to get home before it was dark so she got her bike and left. I realized I should probably leave too, so I said goodbye to Varsha around nine-ish and walked home.

I'd say it was a good day. No pictures though, sorry.

Stupid female clothing
Saturday, August 2, 2008
I really hate how shallow my pockets are.

Or the designer who decided to sew the full pockets on some shorts I was thinking about buying shut.

I'm feeling kind of tired because I tried to go to bed early last night but I ended up staying awake until maybe one or one thirty, and I set my alarm for nine so I could possibly go to the farmer's market. When I actually asked my mom this morning though, she said they were going to the flea market. So I basically wasted time I could've spent sleeping getting irritated at my brother because he was too lazy to look at the buttons on the remote while he was changing the channel and he kept switching back and forth when I was watching something.

He keeps asking me about getting a Nutang, and I keep telling him there's no way in hell I'd ever let him have an invite code. I get too much of him as it is, I don't need him in one of the few places that's still brother-free.

Robots in Disguise

I just thought that was amusing. :P

Right now I'm keeping myself out of boredom by looking up clips of things I've watched before...

Classic. :)

So I was thinking about getting a job...
Saturday, August 2, 2008
And then I printed one out for Hot Topic because they had a "Now Hiring" sign...

But then my mom asked me if I really wanted a job dealing with people. And... no, I don't, really.

I mean, face to face, I'm terrified of people. I can't make eye contact or speak normally with strangers unless I'm in a very specific mood, or if people I know are around.

Sometimes when I go to Bath and Bodyworks people think I work there and ask me for help, and that's okay, but my mom is there...

So yeah, I'm kind of worried now. :/

I've never filled out an application before and I don't know how to do it. I mean, it seems like it should be obvious, because there are boxes for everything, but I don't know my social security number or how to verify that I'm allowed to work in the U.S. and all this other stuff looks straightforward at first and then gets so confusing and I just can't...

I wish this wasn't so hard.

And I need a work permit too? Great. So I can't even try looking until school starts. :|

My default Away message...

Somewhere over the rainbow
The grass is greener on the other side
And Skittles taste like lemon drops
As they fall from the sky like rain
The leprechauns are always stashing their gold
In the most obvious places-
Usually the bank or under their mattresses
If you find any
Remember to recycle
