Gimme a call
Me as a teacher...
Sunday. 12.3.06 7:44 pm
I had my first session as a language partner today! We had a meeting afterwards and one of the activities was to think of a word to describe it. I said new. >.>;; What?! We were in a group and we went clockwise, it was my turn before I knew it. So I said the first thing that popped in my head after 'Um'.

I arrived early this morning because I had to bring in a student with me. The partners were supposed to start after the student's morning class with the teachers and didn't have to be there until 10. Today was the first class so they had to be there a bit earlier to give in the tuition(if you can call it that): $30 (including books). Pretty good, I say. Much better than the usual thousand or so for other classes and stuff. XP

*sigh* I had an unexpected turn of events today. See, we have two hours with the participants: the first, to do a dialogue skit, and a second, to do whatever we wished. One of my students came to me with a piece she didn't quite understand.

Note: These are Intermediate students. They're not all at the same level, but I suppose they were here last year and got promoted or something.

I had to explain this to her:

A canner is exceedingly canny
One day he said to his granny
A canner can can anything he can
But he can't can a can, can he?

Now the grammer may not be entirely correct(the first and second line) because she copied it somewhere and we had already found something she had left out: But he can't can a can, can he?

It wasn't especially hard to explain, but from what I can tell...THESE STUDENTS AREN'T UP TO THAT! Yeesh. They don't even know what vocabulary means or possessive or pronoun, all of which I'm sure the teachers used more than once.

Oy. But I did have a great time today. It was a lot of fun. ^-^ And I'm definitely looking forward to next week! (Yes, this is a weekly thing.)

Exhausted lil' pumpkin
Saturday. 11.4.06 9:30 pm
First, my responses:

kkama67: I'm trying to make a few of my mods to go up on the OTHER side.

Katrina: That's alright, nee-chan! You already sent me that huge chunk of your code. I'm trying to figure out how it works exactly. Good luck on your comment/sig. problem! ^-^

ikimashokie: Aw, too bad...next time! XD

random: I know you number it, let's say, 0-10, but what if I want to get mod #9 over to the other side? I have no idea how to do that. =/

--------------------------------------------

I think I may follow Kuri's suggestion and put the pics on rotation. Or at least change them according to my mood.

I have the collage+deer one up right now because it got two votes: dave and lazypuppy. And of course, dave counts for 10 votes!

That's all I feel like saying right now...I'm completely exhausted. I've been banged at least fourty-thousand times out of a hundred.

p.s. I still need help with the mods!

Twilight
Thursday. 12.7.06 8:51 am
Hi everybody!

Gosh, I have become a true teen squealing giddy fangirl. Alright, not that much, but I AM totally obsessed about a certain book. Ok, not entirely obsessed...whatever.

I have just finished reading Twilight.

I always saw it in the libraries and the bookstores but never really felt the need to take it off the shelf to check out the back cover. My baseball cap and I went strolling through the Young Adult Section when we came to a halt at a certain wall. It was a new display with the newest books up for Christmas gifting. Among them was New Moon, the book after Twilight--a sequel, if you may, though there is a third book after that. In front of each book was a little plaque with a small summary sort of thing. It was interesting so I went and searched for the book.

I sat down on one of the comfy armchairs at the back of the store and proceeded to read. I thought it would be one of those teen chick flick romances(with a vampire thrown in), but I was wrong. It's different. Every once in a while I come across a book that makes my belly all buzzy and this one did exactly that. The author didn't just tell you they were in love, heart and soul, and they would die for each other and all that. You could really feel it, at least I could. XP

A TRUELY WONDERFUL AUTHOR. I went to sleep going over lines from the book. And now I can't wait to read New Moon.

It doesn't hurt that I have so much in common with the character. XD

ps. Don't forget to read my last two entries! I had the first one out for 45min. then begged invisible to read it so I could post the second one. >.<;; So don't let me down, read 'em please!

semi-chinese entry. i was pissed, now just annoyed.

我不明白。为什么大人不用为他们的错误为负责呢?我有错,你有错,他也有错。为什么个个都要推在我身上了?说一句对不起有这么难吗?

basically, i have an uncle here from california for the holiday. he's very...self-absorbed, arrogant, childish, immature--oh, why am i repeating myself? he acts like he's the king of the house. not surprising since he was the youngest son of four siblings. but seriously people, he's a grown man of (almost?) fifty. stop acting like that. have some respect for other people. stop acting like you're the center of the freakin universe. for god's sake, just because you're with family doesn't mean you can do whatever you want and there won't be consequences for your actions. oh, wait, there ARE no consequences when it comes to you. wtf? im the youngest in the family now, but i sure as hell dont act like you. it makes me angry because he's so...i can't respect him and because i dont, it makes ME look like bad kid because i'm not respecting an 'adult'. wtf.

so my mom decides to scold me for it and he starts grinning and trying to join in the scolding. im like, YOU want to teach me about respect and how to be polite? (YOU?! are you friggin kidding me?!) aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

and come on, ma. you were the one who did me wrong today. you guys know (at least those who have read my blog for a while now know) how she is. she did it again--i dont really want to talk about it. just because you're an adult and a mom doesnt mean you can do whatever you want and not have to be responsible for your actions. she's always used her being my 'mom' as an excuse to get away with ANYTHING.

for goodness sake, the world DOES NOT work that way. or at least i believe it shouldn't. >.> mothers should be mothers, adults should be adults. but who said the world was fair? this is where my chinese comes in from above...

"I don't understand. Why can't adults take responsibility for their wrong doing(s)? I was wrong, you were wrong, he was also wrong. Why does everything have to be blamed on me? Is it really so hard to say 'I'm sorry'?"

I'm pretty sure I got some verb tenses or something wrong in the Chinese. Hell, I'm just an ABC(American Born Chinese). Without proper training in Chinese, too.

I'm no dead, hooray!
Monday. 6.1.09 10:10 pm
So anyway, no camera. But I've decided it's okay. I'll just get pictures ON my birthday.

Remember my dead Ipod Mini? My mom says she's going to get me a media player w/ radio -- note: media player, not Ipod. But since my mom is getting me one (and herself), I might as well use it. The camera I'll buy myself.

I've also decided to get a group of friends out on my birthday. A night out of fun and laughter. Just be happy on my birthday. I haven't really celebrated a birthday since I was seven or ten. A cake my mom got me last year last minute (the store was closing) and that was it/the first since I was little. I swear all my birthday wishes back then had been: "Uhhh...world peace and everyone be happy." I'm NOT kidding. I never wanted anything. *shrug* I've never had WANTS actually...

Eh-hem. ANYWAY. I'm going to invite this guy I've been crushing on. I've also decided that it's okay, I'm not going to drive myself insane over it. If he likes me, great. If not, I'll live. I have to.

Now I have to choose: go on Facebook and invite people out on my birthday OR read manga online. I actually haven't read manga at all in over a year. I was very surprised to realize I outgrew it. I took a look at some old stuff yesterday and got reminiscing. Time to revisit those good old times.

Institutions
Thursday. 11.2.06 9:32 am
I sent out an email to a couple of my friends telling them about NuTang and how great it is and so on...none of them replied. So I send another email asking them why they didn't reply and added the angry face. >=[ Grrr!

One of them replies saying: "Oh, I just read emails. I don't usually respond to forwarded emails. Especially when I'm not interested."

Me: ...........

Next one:

Hey (my name),
I did check out Nutang the first time you sent me the
link, but honestly, I'm not interested in blogs. I
think there are better things to do than to rant to
people you don't know and pretend to care about people
that you don't even know. We do that to friends in
real life.

Me: *sigh*

1.) IT WAS NOT A FORWARDED EMAIL.
2.) this was a friend I hadn't seen for a long time--I'M NOT THAT SUPERFICIAL.
3.) overall--> Wha-the-freakin'-WTH?

>=[ Grrrraaaaaahhh! My friends, my friends...my poor poor friends...
I need to get out more...*turns around towards the window* Alas, I cannot for there are bars across the windows of this institution. *sobs*

Reindeer!
Sunday. 11.19.06 8:24 pm
mood: content but starving
listening to: xmas cd
watching: the newly painted white wall

I got THREE DOLLARS in total! to all of you.

It's not twenty bucks--I've still got a long ways to go--but I'm closer to it.

Hmm, I had something to say before...gah! The cons of not having a blackberry and your notebook stuck all the way down in your overstuffed backpack behind the lappie that you couldn't open cuz you were on the train or on the street. Ah, well. Later.

Can you believe December is coming? And that means...Christmas! Yay!

There is now an official progress chart for the PTE X in the Note Me News module. Right over there ==============>

I watched TV!
Monday. 5.11.09 11:14 pm
@Stevie: Basically typing correctly = right and types: asdf and left hand types: jkl;

I just watched Masterpiece Theater for the first time in months! My first TV! And it wasn't even on my TV, but through the Masterpiece Theater website.

Kurt Wallanderrrrrrrrrr! I want to buy the books now, but I'm not made of money. I need clothes, too. And if I want to go to college, I better not squander my paychecks.

I've signed up for daily words from dictionary.com bc I've noticed that I know a lot of words but I'm having a hard time pulling 'em out of a hat. Yes, like a bunny.

That reminds me. Bombincate? To hum, buzz or drone? I gotta stop my boss from bombincating all the time. It's always the same melody.

Did I get the word right? Hmm...
