Crosswalk Buttons...
Monday. 8.28.06 9:17 am
I checked out dave's site http://www.ouroddworld.com. Here's what I found interesting:

Crosswalk buttons for pedestrians are fake!
Found this on OurOddWorld.com

For years, at thousands of New York City intersections, well-worn push buttons have offered harried walkers a rare promise of control over their pedestrian lives. The signs mounted above explained their purpose:

To Cross Street
Push Button
Wait for Walk Signal
Dept. of Transportation

These buttons are fake! At least, over 75% of them in NYC are fake.

The city deactivated most of the pedestrian buttons long ago with the emergence of computer-controlled traffic signals, even as an unwitting public continued to push on, according to city Department of Transportation officials. More than 2,500 of the 3,250 walk buttons that still exist function essentially as mechanical placebos, city figures show. Any benefit from them is only imagined.

I've seen a couple of these on the streets. I even pressed those useless buttons once or twice! I always wondered why they didn't work...it never made 'Walk' come on any faster. I can't believe they haven't told anyone they're fakes! People are out there pushing buttons when it's just a waste of their energy. I wonder what else they haven't told us...

All of you have already noticed, but I'll say it anyway:

I CHANGED MY AVATAR!

Now, my title does have a meaning...because there is a surprise inside my new avvie. Since it's usually too small to see on the front page and its not my profile pic in my profile, here it is up close:

You can see it, right? How creative of me. ;P

Wow, I've been an official nutanger for about...two months? And I've already changed my avatar 1.) the wolf 2.) the grey lotus plus the colorful lotus THREE TIMES!

Ah, well. Here's one more picture.

What is the story behind it?

Movie! er, DVD!
Friday. 10.20.06 11:07 pm
I just finished watching "Charlie and Louise"--the german version of "The Parent Trap". With Chinese subtitles. And dubbed in English. =D Fun.

Same old story with pretty blondies. And a lighthouse they find in Scotland the day they realize they're twins. Funny, sweet, and...can't think of the word.

Quote from the movie:
"There are times in life when you've just got to pull the brakes."

The first time this was put into use was when Charlotte aka Charlie pulled the brakes on the train to Switzerland. Louise had accidently knocked her cap out the window.

Do you notice anything weird in that paragraph? Yes, I said Scotland earlier and now I say Swizterland. Seriously, I don't--can't remember! >.< Completely different places...

Anyway, the second time was when the father was going to leave the twins with their mother. He pulled the brakes to run back to his family. The End.

I had a story to tell...but I suppose I'll wait until tomorrow or whatever.

Good night!

My list for the chubby fellow.
Wednesday. 12.13.06 9:15 pm
Mmm...I spent a little time re-reading Twilght and New Moon. =] Well, I didn't have 12 hours to read both back to back. I just opened them up to random pages and read for a while. *shrug* A half-hour to forty-five minutes for the two.

I've decided what I want for Christmas. Though I haven't voiced them yet...

1. Twilgiht and New Moon

Yes, BOTH. There is no 'either-or', it's both or something else on the list. Notice I didn't say "both or nothing". ;)

2. Make-Up Brushes

What? I'm a dancer, performer and I need brushes! Those flimsy little ones that come with the make-up is no good. The hairs fall out, it irritates my skin, blah, blah, blah. No good.

3. Lord of the Rings Trilogy. DVD.

No, I'm not kidding. I was waiting in the orthodontist's office and they were playing it on the big screen TV. THat reminded me how much I wanted to see the whole thing. I never did. Only one of the movies, I think, with my dad...I only remember the sound and graphics were REALLY GOOD. I've just got a little gist of the story. Ok, not really. >.>;;

That's pretty much it. Well...

4. Gift Cards. Sephora. Borders. B&N.

I'm a dancer, performer = need makeup. The two B's speak for themselves--BOOKS!

Plugs: ikimashokie, ThisCharmingMan, invisible, randomjunk

Childhood Memories...
Saturday. 10.21.06 11:00 pm
I was a very forgetful child. At least according to my mother. =] And something happened today that fits right into that area...

In a time long long ago, there was a dot of a girl who lived in the city. It was her first trip out into the world so her mother gave her a few rules to follow. One of them was to look after her things at all times. If she wanted it, she had better take care of it. The daughter nodded her head and smiled with the bright sunny glee of a child.

Her first trip = she was given a box Tropicana orange juice. Skip, skip, skip--swinging the hand her mother held. In mid-jump, the mother stopped her suddenly.

"Where's the orange juice?"

"I don't know."

She was given one more chance. Again she went skipping along with a Happy Meal in her slippery fingers. What do you think happened?

"Where's the food?"

"I don't know."

And that's how the Forget Girl got her name. The End. *bows deeply to cooing audience*

Well, what do you think happened TODAY? 0.o

I LOST MY CELL PHONE!!!

Just great. Shall I keep my new avvie??

puppy and hands

My puppy. How cute. Yes, you know I love statements of the obvious. *wink*

@Muffy: Haha, I am the strictest at discipline. Teens, kids, friends, adults...and dogs. There is no problem in that area.

Curveballs
Wednesday. 11.15.06 10:02 pm
Thank you all! Thank you, thank you! *sniff* You all make me feel so...oh, I'm at a loss for words! *wipe, wipe with hanky* I would have died in the midst of depression, sinking deeper into the murky fog of pain, reveling in the nothingness of sweet dark sleep...

Alright, no more dramatics. XD The swelling by my mouth has grown. Remember those bites I had all over me by the mysterious little bed creature? It has returned--with a vengeance! I have a bite on the same eye, in the middle of my forehead, down my cheek, and below my pinky. The ones I've found so far, that is.

Now I'm at my other grandmother's place using the old Windows98 comp. and the modem for AOL 7.0. The painting at the apartment is done, but the fumes are still lingering and we haven't gotten around to unpacking everything yet. So I will have my beauty sleep here instead on the nice an' soft couch. ^-^

The world keeps pummeling me with unavoidable curveballs--all to tear me away from NuTang! TT.TT I'm afraid I will be away from the internet for days at a time. *sigh*

I'm sorry for not reading or commenting on everybody's sites! >.<
Except maybe the newbies. If I have time. XP
