Pelicon Swallows Pigeon in a Park

Families and tourists in a London park were left shocked when a pelican picked up and swallowed a pigeon.

The unusual wildlife spectacle in St James's Park was caught on camera by photographer Cathal McNaughton.



He said the Eastern White pelican had the unfortunate pigeon in its beak for more than 20 minutes before swallowing it whole.



An RSPB spokesman said: "It is almost unheard of for a pelican to eat a bird. Their diet should be strictly fish."







Mr McNaughton said: "The pelican was on the towpath preening itself, and there were a lot of tourists watching it. "Then the bird got up and strolled along until it reached one of the pigeons, which it just grabbed in its beak.



"There was a bit of a struggle for about 20 minutes, with all these people watching. The pelican only opened its mouth a couple of times.



"Then it managed to get the pigeon to go head first down its throat. It was kicking and flapping the whole way down."

To clarify, it was not the wind stinging my eyes that I liked the most. There was a great sense of clarity overall. =P

Onto another subject...I am looking into proofreading as a side job, maybe real-life-after-college job. ;) I always loved English and you all know I absolutely loooove books. Isn't it just perfect? Anyway, I'm not into that kind of proofreading just yet--I'm thinking more in terms of scanlations. Y'know, manga? Sooo I may be joining SnS! With Kuri-chan, Katrina-nee, razzly-chan, and whoever else I may be neglecting that I cannot think of at the moment. XD

I'm crazily excited about this and I dunno why. Whatever. Bouncin' off the walls here.

Anyway, I just remembered that I didn't tell ya'll about my Thanksgiving. It's actually my first traditional Thanksgiving. Y'know, with Turkey and all. And gravy. For the first time, I've had GRAVY at the table. We never had gravy before, my mom and I. Or turkey for that matter. So...there was turkey (two yummy juicy ones), mussles, fish, mushroom dish, ginseng soup, chicken soup, etc. And I took the leftover turkey meat home to my ma.

"See what I shot in the forest! I cooked it right then and there!"

My dinner last night was Turkey Ramen. My brunch today was Turkey sandwiches on whole wheat, yummy seedless black grapes, and mango pudding. Dinner tonight is probably Turkey Ramen with a Veggie dish. Something like that.

I have a craving for White Castle. Too bad that's in Queens and I don't even know if it's still there. I've never actually tried 'em before. And I don't see the commercials anymore.

1.) add music

Okay, so now I've watched Twilight. It's what I expected. Shrug. 'Nuff said.

Question: What's the best site/service for handling monetary transactions? How is PayPal compared to other services? Is it possible to use such services to, let's say, shop online? Any way to better protect personal information (credit/debit card info., etc.) but still able to perform transactions online.

I do want to re-read the books now though. But I can only find Breaking Dawn at home. Hmm...

Ah...remember the good ol' days when I was on all the time? Yeah, still not gonna happen anytime soon. At least not until summer's over.

Apparently, I'm raising the phone and electric charges. >.> I was online for a week, then offline for a couple of days and this gets thrown in my face. It's my fault and she's going broke becasue of me. *sarcasm*

Good News! I have found a potential member of NuTang! Yaaaaay!

He was actually willing to join today, but only because I asked him to. I told him not to and that he should browse a bit for a few days before getting back to me. Usually I wouldn't do this, but I know he'll just lose interest and ditch us. I don't want that to happen! He did that in Xanga. Also, he's been pretty busy recently--he told me he'd only blog about once every two weeks. He'd definitely forget about us at that rate!

So I'm going to remind him several times this week to take a look around. Then, Ill ask him again next week. Hopefully he'll say yes! ^-^
