Buy from Amazon: New price: $11.17 Used price: $9.97 | Reviews Twilight Review Rating: 5/5 I've already read this book, but I wanted my own copy. I know it's written for young adults, but as a 30 something Mom, I still LOVED it! Read in one night Rating: 5/5 I got this book after seeing the trailer for the upcoming movie. I couldn't put it dow, and read it in one night. This book is driven by characters that pop off the page, and become endering to the reader. I was very impressed for a book that deals with Vampires, this was brilliantly written. I may be somewhat partial as this is written from the girls perspective.
Bella, who will be played by Kristen Stewart (The Messengers, In the Land of Women, Zathura), is an ordinary teen, moving to a place called Forks, Washington. A place where it rains all the time, and the sun is almost never seen. She meets a mysterious boy, Edward who has special abilities, that make Bella deturmined to know what is going on.
This movie better be a good and thrilling as this book, I was tense and on the edge of my seat the entire time, trying to figure out what was going to happen next.
However I do admit that having read other Vampire and Werewolf stories this one befuddles me. I kept thinking that the way the Vampires were described was more wolfish that usual. Crowching, snarling, extreem speed, etc.
Couldn't get through the first CD Rating: 1/5 I borrowed this book on CD from a friend, so I could listen to it on a long roadtrip.
Ilyana Kadushin has a very East Coast Mid-Atlantic accent which completely belied her character's Phoenix, Arizona origins. Every once in a while during her narrative, Ms Kadushin would read declarative sentences as questions, which would take me right out of the story. I'm going to read this book instead. Maybe. I'm not overly impressed by what I've listened to so far, to be honest. Bella Swann seems a bit Mary Sue-ish. Totally addicted! Rating: 5/5 My sister gave me this book saying that it was great. I was very skeptical because I'm not one to normally pick up fiction books, much less one about vampires...and she said it was more geared toward teenagers (I'm 29). I have to say that I am TOTALLY in love with this series now! I've read all 3 and can't wait for the 4th to come out in August. I think any woman (young or old) would enjoy these books!
I also hear there is a movie coming out in Dec based on the series! Super...cute? Rating: 4/5 Alright, so I am probably going against all vampire codes when I say this, but this book was so very cute. (Cute and vampire should never go together, but Stephanie Meyer has done it. Kudos.) It seemed that there was a lot of repetitiveness to it, but that doesn't inhibit the story-telling aspect to it (I may have felt this way because I read the entire book in one day, it was a lot to take in). I was pleasently surprised when I read this because of all the crazy fan-girl rage over it, I thought I wasn't going to like it much. This book tells a great story and the characters are relatable. I would recommend this book to any girl looking for a good read, and guys, it that's your fancy. |
