Dilemma.
Friday. 8.10.07 12:45 pm
There's the hooping thing at 3p. I don't know if I want to go, or if they're still having it, since we've been "in the middle of a heatwave" or some crap like that. It's really not all that bad out.

I don't know if I want to go to work, I'm still not set up to all of everything like the listservs and my NAS, and I don't want to start my calls today.

I can go in on Monday morning before I have to be at my other job, and sit around for a bit and maybe start a call or two, and see if the rest of my stuff has been setup.

So I think I won't go today, but I still don't know if I want to go hula hooping with a bunch of people. I'm feeling self conscious and loserly.

Craziness.

Good ol' dubya just had a press conference.

I only caught the end of it, where he was bullshitting about Iraq/Iran.

According to the news lady, he was trying to start legislation that will keep America "competitive", especially in science and technology.

I'm trying to figure out how it is we can remain competitive in science when half of the country is a bunch of close-minded fundies who don't believe in science, and he keep smacking down stem-cell research/cloning/other science-technology things that would be seriously helpful.

Then he was going on about people being held responsible... it definitely sounded like he was saying he was going to let all the screwups go.

*sigh*

SUCH a loser!
Wednesday. 8.8.07 4:59 pm
So I've been playing with my hula hoop.

I'm not particularly coordinated, so this makes it quite entertaining.

I'm sure I'm going to be pretty sore tomorrow. T.T

The people on the internet say arnica lotion is good for bruises and soreness. Maybe I'll hit up Annie Kay's for some.

I figured out a way to get the hoop from my waist to above my boobs (damn near impossible), so now my back is going to be a bit grumbly tomorrow. According to the internet, endowed people can get it up there, but it's seeming like it's not gonna go up on its own. Ammre has a nice tutorial, but it's not helping.

I also figure that I eventually could use a smaller hoop, mine is at the larger end of the recommended sizes. I figure if I keep with my large-ish noobhoop, then I can make my own variously sized hoops later on.

Hooping isn't for people who like to have nails, i seem to have broken at least three. :/ Probably time to cut them anyway.

I finally got my accounts set up for my job (after almost two weeks, and they came to me about the job!), so tomorrow I plan on finishing up my n00blabs and starting calls on friday

I need to go file my nails.

On a plus, it appears that I've been gifted a nice sum of money, so I don't feel so bad blowing 40 dollars at the street fair with 25 of it on the hoop. I still need to make a phone call, though.

Fun and excitement! With pictures!
Sunday. 8.5.07 11:06 am
A few weeks ago I went to K-mart, and saw a marble run for sale. They had small kits, then a medium kit, and when I went yesterday to get the medium kit, they had a huuuuge kit for only five dollars more. So I bought the huuuuge kit. Dave and I sat around like little kids, building things and knocking them over. We're such losers. I've got pictures of some of the runs we built, perhaps I'll put them on later. I forgot to mention: It came with bells! :D

Before we went to Kmart, we went to the street fair. I ended up spending a good chunk of money, but that's alright. I got a hula hoop that I'd been wanting, some awesome 3-d stickers, ridiculously tasty nuts, and a sammich. We went back for more nuts, that's how tasty they were.

There's a hooping group that meets at 11a on Sundays and 3p on Fridays. I was going to try to go today, but I couldn't wake up. I feel bad, Dave and I set our alarms for 9.30, and didn't get up, so his snooze kept going off. :/

Oh well, I can always skip out of work early on Friday and go. I'll have to put a picture of the hoop up as well. It's pretty nifty, a fuchsia/magenta color with white camo at different points around it. One day I'll learn myself some tricks.

Safari!
Saturday. 8.4.07 5:43 pm
So Dave's mom and sister came down for the week. I baked his mom a cake, because it was her birthday, and she was saying she wanted a cake.

The cake stuck to the pan, so I had to cut off a third of it. :/ It was still a tasty and awesome cake, just... smaller than I'd wanted it to be. At least it rose and wasn't flat like Dave's.

We went to a drive through safari before she left. Even though there weren't any pets allowed, his sister snuck her yorkie along in the car.

She treats the dog like it's a child and can't take care of itself... I'm pretty sure dogs knew how to stay cool/etc before people came along... oh well.

His sister took pictures of everything, and there were ridiculously cute baby ostriches and rheas. They were so tiny and fluffy! There was a baby pig as well, but I think the baby birds were much cuter.

We couldn't get a bucket of food, because Dave is a killjoy and his mom didn't want the bucket of food either. Oh well, that's ok, I still had fun.

We went to the gift shop afterwards (yes, I'm a kid, I love gift shops) and I bought a stuffed moose. I have a creepy soft spot for stuffed mooses. I also bought Dave a keychain, because I felt kinda bad that I mentioned the drive-through safari and was play-whining about how I wanted to go.
