There's a thing
Saturday. 2.16.08 6:00 pm
about posting on the internet. Normally, when people travel somewhere new, it's exciting. It's a big deal, either because the destination is well known, because the culture is so different, or both.

However, since I'm posting on the internet, there are sure to be people (maybe virtual or imaginary, but this is still just a theory. Shut up.) who already live in that destination and don't think it's a big deal. Maybe they're sick of it.

....

So, I'm in Florida, and pretty excited by it. The weather is sunny, maybe a bit too bright, but the temperature could not be more PERFECT. Well, it could, but that's just because of wind chill. Whoo.

My cousins are the greatest. Niko is 2, and Valeria is 5. I have to say that they're very cute. Plus, they love to play and are totally fun to hang out with.

I wish I wasn't leaving on Monday.

Oh, and the plane ride here was a jerk. They overbooked and almost kicked my mom and brother off. Then, then I had a seat between a nice girl and an Ausie, and Mom made me go to the back with her. (I'm an ignorant American, so I'm automatically facinated with foreign accents. Another thing the interweb makes light of.)

Please excuse all my typos. I know they're there somewhere. I'm not using Firefox, so I can't spell check EVERYTHING. I rely on that far too much.

*Edit* Actually, I think someone said Niko was three. Now I'm all confused.

Opinionated
Friday. 4.13.07 10:44 pm
This is a writing I just published, but I'm posting it here for commenting purposes. Written in just under an hour, no preperation, and talking to a certain turtle-y someone. Enjoy.

Humanity, as a whole, is ignorant. Even knowing what I know, (or what I think I know,) I’m ignorant, though not as much as some.

You see, there are two extremes to everything in nature. Everything. Well, everything that I can think of at the moment. These extremes are even in human nature, every aspect of it. Not everyone is at one extreme or another in any of their traits. Some people are in the middle for some things. Maybe they’re “average” in all their traits, but I doubt it. Anyway, extremes go from appetite to kindness (or lack of).

Opinions are also sometimes extreme. The point I’m getting at now is political, but it can be used with humanity and life as a whole. Religion, racism, ethics are all points about which a human can be logical and reasonable or stubborn and excessive, but not always right.

For example, people can’t seem to decide about how they want to be ruled, if there’s ruling at all. The fact of the matter is any and all forms of government are flawed. What we Americans falsely call a democracy is certainly flawed, if the amount of turmoil we’re in is any example. A real democracy also can’t work forever either. Monarchies don’t exactly work. Nobody likes Parliament, sorry to say. Anarchy is probably one of the more stupid options, in my opinion, because with equal authority there’s no authority, and humans just can’t keep their hands to themselves. I can’t think of any other examples, but there must be, and they’ll all be imperfect somehow. Because a government, or lack of it, consists of humans, and humans are pretty imperfect, putting it nicely. God or no God, everyone must agree about at least that much.

So, back to opinions. Since we now know that sometimes everyone can be wrong no matter what, we should know that if there’s no right opinion to be had, then in a weird way, there’s no wrong opinion. That means that every opinion is valid as long as it has good reasoning behind it. This extends from government to my personal favorite, stereotypes. I know of people who actually think that “nerds” are inferior. They don’t act like it, the actually think it. To them, “me” is all that matters. Nobody else has a valid opinion. They hear someone arguing a point, (a very valid one, I might add,) and completely shut them down as a worthless nerd, who cares anyway? That’s just wrong. Thank God (or whoever you want, since I’m on the subject,) that there are people who know better, who respect the basic rights that everyone should have.

Or should they have rights? I think the most horrible thing of all is that after all I just went through to get that out, I might be wrong. It’s just another opinion. Who’s to prove me wrong or right when it comes to human nature? Is this even about human nature? Ignorance isn’t bliss unless you’re ignorant to your ignorance.

Weekends are bummers
Sunday. 4.22.07 10:31 pm
Mom left Tuesday on a work trip, so my brother and I slept over at John Patrick's house on Tuesday, Wednesday, and we ate dinner on Thursday, when Mom got back late. On Friday after school we got picked up by Ian’s mom, and we stayed over until Sunday.

On Saturday the host family went to help out at a Special Olympics swim meet, and Sean and I helped out. My events ended subor fast, so we had two hours to kill. We were going to a party at one. Ian and I left for a while, ran to the elementary school down the road, and used the extensive playground equipment as an obstacle course. After thirty minutes or so, we went back, hung out for a while longer, than grabbed a ride and drove to FATZ Café for a birthday party. My girlfriend’s birthday party. She’s also known as Katie or Unicornasaurus. I’m pretty excited about the whole thing. So, excuse me for being slightly or extensively obsessed for a post. Or two. And please, let’s not mention the others, because I know someone will. Halleluiah, amen, you are dismissed. (WARNING: THOUGH THE FOLLOWING IS WELL WRITTEN AND THEREFORE ENTERTAINING TO READ, IT IS A BIT LONG.)

So, the party was…probably one the most awesome ever. There were two boys-Ian and me. And twelve girls. Personally, there was only one that mattered, but Ian had eleven chicks to entertain. We needed three tables; so obviously, I and Ian sat at different tables. Haha.

Well, I met some of her friends, made them adore me, and forced my birthday present upon her (innuendo not intended). We ate, made fun, and left a huge tip and possible disgruntled customers in our wake. Then was a short trip to Katie’s house, except we went to Sarah’s instead. Her parents are outside…

“Hey Dad. Meet all my friends. Um, you know all these people…This is Megan.”

“Hi.”

“And this is Stevie. He’ll be using our trampoline for a few minutes.”

Personally, I think that’s quite an introduction. So, we jumped. There are a few pictures of me in flip mode in circulation, and on by KATIE of me in landing. Which is great. So we played badminton for a few minutes and split.

On the way to Katie’s she and I somehow ended up in front of everyone else. Let’s just say we made some laughter. I MIGHT have shaken my boxored bootie at them, but I just don’t remember. When we got to the house Katie hid with me behind the kitchen counter. It was great because when we were missed, her entire party went upstairs to her messed up room. By the way, I have video of her messy room. It’s MESSY.

There was a smoothie explosion, so with my help it was cleaned. And her mom never found out why we filched the wet-vac. We went to the bathroom to clean the blender. When we were missed (becoming a pattern, gosh,) we heard, “Katie and Stevie are in the bathroom!” Katie locked the door; I turned on the water really loud, and THAT IS ALL. If “cleaning the blender” becomes slang for making out or whatever, you know where it came from.

Other highlight of the party...Katie’s dog loves me, I suck at DDR, and presents are ALWAYS a good idea, even if she says no.

After the party, Ian’s family took me to a friend gathering (without Katie or her friends, for those confused ones) where we ate food and kicked a ball around. Then we walked to a park with a lake and watched fireworks. I called Katie to tell her where I was, and SHE TOTALLY CAME! She almost never found us, but she was able to walk back to (Ian’s family’s friend’s) house. She stayed for a while, and then her dad came and got her. So, goodnight to her.

Now I’m too tired to talk about today. Well, nothing remotely amazing happened, and it is devoid of all Katie-ness. So, it was pretty decent.

Happy Birthday to Her!
Monday. 4.23.07 9:14 pm
Today is Katie's actual birthday. The only reason I'm really posting now is so that I can remember this for as long as nuTang thrives. I made her a little paper "medal" for being 15. Kind of a joke, but we taped it to her shirt and she wore it to CiCi's. Sarah came too. Mr. and Mrs. B didn't want pizza, so they went in a different eatery. Basically, we met some friends that I, personally, haven't seen since 8th grade. Katie and Sarah have, because they all go to the same school. Then the fun started.

Anyway, there was this rather creepy guy who works there. I guess he's okay, but MAN he has this pedophile vibe about him. Sarah and I sang to Katie, and when we were done, the guy comes by and says, "Me next!" -.-

Katie and Sarah went back to the bar for more food, whilst I munched on a crust and watched. The guy starts asked her questions, about who she was and how old she was. I started laughing rather loudly, and Katie pretty much glared my into more laughter. NO GLARE CAN THWART ME!

Later, the same guy came over with one of the girls who worked there, and they marched us all to the front of the eatery. There Katie was stood ON A CHAIR while the guy yelled at EVERYONE in the restaurant about How Katie Is Now Fifteen On This WonderFull Day, Can Everyone Please Sing Along. And he sang.

Not only that, but he had another employee come over even after that and sing in Spanish. The point is, Katie went through all of that, blamed me, and still forgave me. HA!

Yes, this is mostly for the benefit of myself and the birthday girl. Comments not really expected. Also, I had a new idea for a shirt. In shorthand, broken heart, broken stomach, sad and hungry. I doubt anyone will steal this, but if they do, then it's go time!
