Every time
Saturday. 7.11.09 1:06 pm
Every time I go up to Appalachia, I come alive again. And this time, I plan to stay that way.

The speaker is the same guy we had at Horizon a few years ago: Evan English. The dude is fantastic. He did 5 lectures just on the Lord's Prayer, going through all the nuances and truths hidden in just those simple few sentences. The idea is that the whole thing is like a framework for how our prayers should be, and each part dictates a different aspect of how we should live.

I took a lot of notes this week, which is good because I WILL forget. And apparently the CEM guys are making his sermons into a podcast in a while. That would be nice to have.

I also became very aware of how unfair I've been. Well, no, maybe not unfair. But definitely not Godly. Like any hypocritical Christian, I'm awfully good at being loving when it benefits me, aren't I?

Hardly loving at all.

Anyway, that's something that I fervently plan on fixing. Starting about 3 days ago.

SO! How are you guys doing? I'm out of the loop because I've been in and out so often lately. What's going on?

The doctor who did my physical said the little lump on my thigh was probably just a cyst. Yay for good news. But...Thursday?...Thursday night I noticed that it was deeper in my skin and red and sore. In fact, it's awfully bothersome because my cell phone rubs against it in my pocket. I think one of the kids banged it and knocked it loose.

So, uh...fun.

Kyle had to go home early, so I missed him terribly almost all week. We had bought a huge bag of Skittles to share, but we didn't get to.

Oh, Kilo.

The blood test says my cholesterol is still astoundingly high. I think it may have something to do with being at Boys State and Horizon back to back for a week before hand, but I'm willing to accept the responsibility of cleaning up my blood. Frankly, I'm tired of eating poorly. Cooking something decent will be a great skill to have soon. And I want to be at the top of my game for college. Spiritually AND physically.

I'm so happy that I got to meet those kids. They've done a lot for me, and they're basically awesome.

We find out that
Thursday. 7.16.09 11:54 pm
Apparently, that cyst thing on my leg was just that; a harmless cyst. A little ball of flesh, about the size of a big marble, filled with some sort of liquid. I kind of liked it.

But, somehow, some bacteria got into it, and all that liquid turned into chunky pus. The worst kind. I've made two Big Squeezes since yesterday, and each time I'm thoroughly surprised at the sheer volume of the stuff. It's smaller now than it was before it became infected, but there's still more to come.

I can see it. Blech.

What great timing: I'm going to Puerto Rico to visit my terminally ill grandfather this Saturday. I probably WON'T get a blood infection, but my mom's got me on meds and creams anyway. Because, you know, that would suck pretty hard.

I have to get up at 6 in the morning to make sure I'm taking it spaced out. One pill, three times a day. New creme and band-aid, twice I day. I'm going to burn through those things.

Bah, I'm tired. I don't know why I insist on staying up this late. There's nothing going on that I'm interested in on the Blogosphere. I tried downloading the Auto Tune the News videos from Youtube, but one way or another they all crapped out on me. So I'm giving up for now and hitting the sack.

Cya, folks.

It's times like these (EDIT)

It's times like these when you miss the father figure.

Bah, humbug, pass the despair, please.

This season I'm swimming like a Dalek with a fin attached. Actually, modified Daleks would probably be really good at swimming. Wouldn't surprise me. So, an unmodified one, then. I swear, I got my best times at the beginning of the season, and I've been working back up to them since. What happened?

NEWS: Out of the three times I've swum the 100 yard freestyle, I've lost my goggles all three times. Out the three times I've lost my goggles, it's been on the 100 yard freestyle. Today when I swam, I added a second to my worst time. Then, when I swam 100 yards for a 400 yard relay, I beasted my best time. But it doesn't count for state cuts or points (except in the relay itself.)

At least I know I can beast my seed time. If I can keep my goggles on. And if Sue keeps me in the freestyle and not the backstroke, which is a strong possibility.

Don't get me wrong. I love backstroke. I'm number 2 on the team, I think. But I want to get a good time in the freestyle if I've got it in me.

Nobody in my normal movie night crew is in town! It's just me, Kilo, and Kit. Heh. Kit.

Gotta go before my mom blows a fuse. Time is running short.

EDIT: The reason that Halo 3 is so popular is because the multiplayer is so functional. Somebody put together an amazing level on forge, where you spawn on a platform with a bunch of Mongoose (like small four wheelers) and you have to drive on this tiny circular bridge while someone who happened to spawn on the floating platform tries to shoot you off with rockets. I stumbled upon the game by accident, and with the scoring disabled, so Kyle, Kit and I played a good 2 or 3 hours of just that. It was extremely fun. Gotta love Halo 3.
