Just don't know
Wednesday. 7.15.09 11:34 pm
I almost wrote this depressing entry about self-doubt and my demons and all that jazz, but then I temporarily got over it.

Also, a girl told me the strangest thing ever earlier today. It was completely out of the blue, and I suspect that it will disappear back there, never to be heard of again. It made my day, in a weird sort of way.

Harry Potter was fun, but even more fun than that was that my friends dressed up as officials in the Ministry of Magic, and acted as such throughout most of the wait and afterwards.

All I did was wear a hood that obscures my face and pretend to be a dementor. I was purposefully lame. I even wore a Girls State underneath the hood.

Oh, yeah. That was a pretty fun part of the night, too. I recognized a bunch of people, but only a few of them (impressive feat, by the way,) recognized me. So it was nice to say hey to them and watch them freak out.

Some mom got a picture of me and the ministers with her kids. Whaaaat.

I feel...!
Thursday. 2.17.11 4:15 pm
Inspired. By nothing in particular, I guess. It's just great weather! Can't go wrong with that. I decided to carry my camera around today and just take pictures of random stuff. And guess what I came across? I found a bird hanging out on the sidewalk that literally let me put a camera less than 2 inches from its face. I was like WHAT LUCK. It had some sort of bright yellow growth over an eye, which sort of ruins the photos though. :/ It was probably really sick, when you think about that. At least it had gone when I came past again.

I also managed to get some nifty pictures of squirrels, which I always want to do but never have the opportunity.

So I've been worried that I wasn't really finding my niche here at Tech, right? Like I wasn't making any good friends and I was sort of leeching from my roommate's social life. (Speaking of which he asked out his lady-interest a few days ago and still hasn't told me. I had to find out when people asked me about it and knew more about it than I did. -facepalm-) Well, not anymore! The biggest thing is that I made chums with a dude who I'll probably end up rooming with next year. I was beginning to worry because I didn't have anyone like that and I didn't want to just go random on it. We get along pretty well, but I'm actually not positive that we'd make the best roommates. I just don't know him well enough. That's OK, though!

But yeah I found that group Alpha Omega (I think I mentioned this already) and it has been absolutely awesome to hang out with them. I really miss my friends from youth group, but I also just miss Youth Group! It's great to have that again, even if I still miss my favorite hug-buddies. They're all really friendly...like, almost forcibly friendly. I didn't ever think that I could handle that but I've really grown to appreciate it. Once you get past the obligatory "Hey, you new here? You go to school here? How're classes? What'd you think of the talk?" type thing, most of the people I've encountered actually stick around and converse with me. The guys I've been hanging out with the most have really taken an interest in my life. They're just...sincere. And pretty awesome, besides. It certainly helps when you just get along with people, haha.

I formed a little study group with a few guys from my Calc II class, and that's been sort of helpful and very fun. We're the most terrible study buddies EVER, actually. But gosh we have a good time. So...I guess my niche is The Crazy Guy. Sort of shallow, but honestly? Sort of accurate. To a degree. I mean, hey, I'm not complaining.

Found a new band called Tetrafusion. I have never heard such a close approximation to Dream Theater before. They don't have quite the grasp of epic complexity in their music or deep subject matter in the poetry, but they are Quite Excellent. I can't get enough of their song The Deserter.

I made this:

Wind-blown by ~middaymoon on deviantART

It's from my most recent trip to Utah...I have a few more shots I am considering processing and/or posting. The canyon-lands in Utah are so beautiful. Gah. I want to live there. Probably not going to happen, but a guy can dream, right?

When I showed this piece to Ryan, he said, "At first when I read the caption I thought it said 'Mind-blown', but when I read it again I realized it said 'Wind-blown'. And then I decided that it was ACTUALLY BOTH!"

I gotta go grab dinner with some buds (great timing) so I must cut this short even though I feel like there's more to go into. Until next time? Yes. Yes, I think so.

The Zune of Doom
Wednesday. 5.28.08 10:36 pm
It should be here tomorrow. The dock and A/V out cords came today.

I actually decided to go on Pandora again, and I realized how much music I have yet to acquire. Everything sounds great tonight.

Test tomorrow. I swear, we have a test in that class EVERY week. Stinky.

All my EOCs are next week. But by then I'll have my Zune. It's OK.

I still can not describe the awesome that is Nightwish.

*adds the word "zune" to the Fire Fox dictionary.*

The Mind Unlocked by ~middaymoon on deviantART

I think it's pretty final that the teacher's not going to use my art for the cover. Shame, I don't think it's half bad.

Today in school I had some sort of happy high. I was a little sleepy for Math, which is nothing new. All my classes seemed to go by so SLOWLY! But the entire time I was in a good mood, good to the point that my classmates were commenting on it.

And for all you awesome people who were worried, here is a story. APPARENTLY I brought my Skullcandies to school in my sweater pocket, which is stupid. But they fell out first block, and I didn't notice, and I made that post the same night, and found them the next morning because my teacher is awesome. YeaY!

Coincidentally, my Zune stopped working right around then. It just wouldn't turn on. I plugged it in, unlocked it, reset it, did everything...and two days later it magically turned on again. Can't figure it out. Ah, well.

Thanks, guys!
