Spring cleaning is tiring.. So many old things to clear, stuffing JC stuff into containers, sorting out all the ancient archaic toys, files, worksheets etc etc. Memories galore.

I was surfing Facebook peacefully until I heard a 'pop' sound.. that came from our best CT rep ever - who went into Tekong on Friday and enlisted into L coy.


His company win already.. Adjustment week can use UMPC to surf online. Bet they ironed out the server problems that plagued us when we first used it a month back.

Went out with someone special recently.. A simple lunch date expanded into much more.. (though I was 30 mins late due to ugly jams all around HC..=/)

I was rather dismayed that our college field got cannibalised by basketball courts and all. Argh. Now the views from the window A300 and A317 are not as nice anymore. Guess the school's preparing for the eventual closing of our existing courts due to the Downtown Line construction works that have already started along other parts of Bukit Timah.

So next time during Mid Autumn we cannot just sit at the steps and fire sparklers into the vast green patch of grass. No more war games (why did Ares win again -.-), soccer trainings, frisbee etc.

Officially declare now that BTP's the most happening place in Singapore in the run-up to CNY. There was a talent show going on at the basement.. that attracted something like less than a hundred people.. Had Subway for lunch.. and had to endure the sometimes not-so-nice singing (they are small kids after all.. some were fantastic though) as well as the ear-splitting feedback from the speakers.

We stayed there for a rather long time (2 hours?) and milled around in Popular after that. Nostalgia man, seeing so much boooooks and our O level papers (:

Proceeded on to JP for some shopping (: And time kind of flies very quickly with no success when you have two indecisive persons walking around. Ok, I was the main culprit with my cuiiiiiiiness.. =/ Sorry sorry! Haha. STARBUCKS was pretty cooool though (despite Lux always claiming back in camp that one cup has 500 calories).

Almost reached the halfway stage, and I'm still sweating it out over my fitness given that the sirs mentioned before that fitness levels will definitely decrease once outfield training starts. So that's going to be a real concern in the upcoming weeks.

IPPT
Improvements in chinups and 2.4km. The rest remained constant, unfortunately. 3 more seconds from a 4 point for 2.4km. Sian =/ Knew I shouldn't have started from the back and get entangled in the mess that followed as everyone in front broke away.

I had a back abrasion after first-aid test the day before (simulated pistol drag while under fire). Sian.. Ended up with a broken belt and torn Admin tee as well. 3SG Yishu was like "woah, look at his!" lol. Hard to see him in a good mood - usually see him tekan-ing his platoon, like on Thurs night when the enhanced batch were at the hardcourt due to stand-by bed errors I think.

Still hurts now when I stretch =/

Enhanced people
I will only blog about the school 1 dudes since they are the only ones that I saw enlisting.

On Thursday after our IPPT we were told to go back to bunk (after cheering on Plt 4 under OC's orders) and not appear outside half-naked because of all the parents (and girlfriends) that descended upon our cluster in luxury buses. C coy's came first as they enlisted earlier. Then after they alighted I realised what all the tents we had set up the day before was for - to shelter them visitors from the training sheds to their company line -.-

After lunch we had FT.. squeezed in a small training shed somewhere behind B coy between two C coy sections checking their stuff. Saw Kaijian and another HC guy there (Jinyao pointed them out), and their coy has so many 2SG.. Lol.

At night after early RO at 1645 and stand-by bed at 1830 some of us OTOT-ed right around D coy who were checking stuff on the hardcourt. Dismantled the two tents our coy set up while some section 1 people went to do OCPT in front of C coy. -.-

On Friday nothing much really happened, except that CPT1 warmup was on the field since the two new companies were having first parades. The field sucks, hate the sandflies that just seem to fly about everywhere. Imagine doing prone roll there..

OC encouraged us to sing bookout song whenever we passed the new companies. And our coy people took it into heart as they sang it from 1400 to 1945 hours (due to staggered bookout times determined by IPPT results).

Evidently they already did more in a day than what we did in our first two or three days. Not called enhanced batch for nothing eh?

Next week would be a rather short week, with half day on Friday. Anyone game for any gathering at night? Since everyone on this island will be booking out for CNY.. except the unlucky duty personnel.

Saw Liuzhen before and after his haircut though. LOL. Honoured to witness such a momentous occasion.. onw which we never thought would come since he was so protective and proud of his black crop (:

Time really does fly! Its been so long since we had chilling sessions at his house, and also the numerous (IRC) pool rendezvouses. Ahhh, miss Hcband a lot! =/

Guard duty
Sentry at TFT is super boring, so try to steer clear of that if your guard duty buddy is someone you don't socialise with often. Other jobs like TFT prowler, Ammo Dump prowler and Rocky Hill sentry are much more interesting than seeing the waves hit the shore in the middle of the night and the Penguin boat crews fishing by the jetty.

I was away in camp when this momentous event happened.. Thank goodness my uncle was able to obtain leave from work to attend this ceremony. Or else it would be my mum smiling widely in the photos below instead.. (:


The entire event was plastered all over the local media.

Congratulations Alvin and Rachel on your successful solemnisation ceremony.. on board a plane no less! Woahh.. you've set us all a tough act to follow. First proposing via the net.. now this. Power sia! (:

This guy is definitely no stranger to all HcBand members being the composer of both High Sch's and College's SYF choice pieces. Hence.. I'm quite excited that he's coming down here to helm a performance of his works (Remember how we almost couldn't perform "Hymn to the Sun" for SYF because of copyright scares?)

And the best thing is.. Its on a Saturday! And its after field camp! Hopefully there'll be no range or whatnot on that day. 2 weeks before we POP.

Woah.. Its the end of the month yet again..
I'm getting nostalgic over not being in school, playing for morning assemblies, attending lectures and tutorials and even the canteen food. (Cookhouse food is a rather poor substitute..)

Was reading through my January postings for the past 2 years.

Haha.. the more I reminiscence about the past, in HC and all.. the stronger my desire to just travel back in time - back to the halcyon days. I bet that once most of the guys join me on P. Tekong this week they would be able to emphatise with me big time man.

I arranged my JC stuff today. Actually arrange's abit overdoing it - I merely stacked them into 2 huge boxes. No idea where some of my A level papers went to also. Lol. And I managed to dig up plenty of stuff.. Like Shimin's SYF note from my plastic folder, HCImpressione and Classiques (without the Extreme.. =/) programme booklets, OAC Bike Hike certificate of participation, Econs Ablaze which I had never read, my screwed up test papers and so on.


Ok.. back to reality.

I'm going to book in at 1925 hrs this evening. Rather early considering we booked out at 1815 on Friday (There was once when we booked out at 1500 and went back in at 1925). Anyway, since we're actually the first company to book out on Friday I shaln't complain so much.. (The peak hour traffic jam was horrible though).

Saturday was rather awesome.. spent with a whole bunch of wonderful people.. Photos of the dinner with Xiangjing (with his pro DSLR) and Germaine (cos the auntie did not know how to use the aforementioned DSLR) though. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.. and the slow walk, chat along the river at night was pretty memorable as well.. not only for the scenery, live and atmosphere, but also the company ((:

How I wish time would just stand still.. and that I would remain as a civilian instead of having to change guises once the weekend comes and goes.

The Enhanced/L batch will be coming in on Thursday to our cluster.. SInce its still adjustment week (they have 2 periods of confinement, seperated by CNY), I hope I'll have time to meet up with sY, William, HY and others at night after RO to chat and all. My side'll definitely have time.. provided no strange thing or tekan or stand-by areas/bed occur. As for them.. Hm, hopefully the first few days would be rather slack. (And they get to have nightsnacks as well.. LOL)

This upcoming week in camp (Last week of PTP, start of BMT)
There SOC Training 1 this week. IPPT will be on Thursday as well.. Lol. Sure fail one la.

I'll be on guard duty on Tuesday. Hm.. Maybe after that I can tell you guys what Tekong at night is really all about. As well as other stories that I can pick up. Haha.

Maybe it was all flawed from the start.
Perhaps I shouldn't have walked down this path
