The Great Unraveling
Wednesday. 1.5.11 3:02 am
Do you think that the hypothetical Schrdinger's Cat is dead or alive this present day (let's say)? Now my conclusion is such that I opened the bloody box and got maimed by the poison as well. Good grief.

I never thought I will ever say this here, on public domain - but yes

SCREW THIS MAN, SERIOUSLY.
I AM JUST SOME NEEDY, EMOTIONAL BASTARD WHO WILL JUST WILT AND DIE AT ONE CORNER WITHOUT ANYONE BATTING AN EYELID.
OH YAY. AND THE WHOLE WORLD SHALL REJOICE AT MY DEMISE

Just four days into the new year and - this?

I can't have asked for less, really. Wow.
Talk about a good year, great year - ITS ALL FREAKING BULLSHIT.
Sometimes even I get so pleasantly disgusted by myself that its revolting.
Not that you will care much anyway, after giving me effectively a freezing treatment like as if I was going through cold turkey.

So the past year was just fucking wasted. Everything.
And its all of my own doing. It was coming, this - just a matter of when and how exactly only.

Another twist in a long running saga once more, then.

Christmas on the Bay
Tuesday. 1.4.11 1:32 am
Finally I garnered enough energy to shake off my lethargy and start drafting this entry..

Disclaimer - The following post features photographs that are unashamedly koped from Jontay's and Aaron's albums on everyone's favourite social networking site. Do check out their blogs for more photos (:

Happy Holidays to one and all

First of all, I have to thank Aaron for allowing us to crash into his suite at Marina Bay Sands on Christmas night itself FOC.. (Besides the food, drinks and alcohol, that is)

I arrived at the Sands dressed.. rather casually I admit. Shirt with shorts and a pair of flip flops. Smart-casual has never been so reduced. Anyway, it was early and I'd managed to lug a few 1.5l bottles and a sweet little bottle of Long Island Tea up to the room.

We ventured a dip at the well-chronicled Skypark pool before chilly winds forced the majority of us out and into the relative warmth of the shower. Dinner was at Marina Square after a rendezvous with a tropical shower right outside the mall itself (Whoever suggested the long route?!)

Christmas feasts were on 30% offer at Billy Bomber's - however given that we had an odd number and that a festive platter caters for two I had to bite the bullet and go for a single course which costs almost as much as the discounted meal. Oh well..

Back to the hotel we went after sending Jontan off - And the Great Drinking Game hence commenced as we sparred for the title of the most-sane-person-who-will-end-up-drinking-the-least.
Cheers.

The basic tenet of our game was as such.

Every player seats in a circle and and draws a poker card each turn. The card itself shall determine the actions to be undertaken by one/all players.

(H/D) A to 5 - The player downs 1 - 5 shots corresponding to the numerical value on the card

(S/C) A to 5 - The player directs one or more players to drink the total number of shots corresponding to the numerical value on the card.

6 - All players start playing 大鱼小鱼 ("Big Fish, Little Fish") The loser downs one shot.

7 - All players commence 7-up, whereby players are required to say in ascending order numbers starting from 1 and replace any number containing/multiple of 7 with 'up'. Loser downs one.

8 - The all-important toilet pass. Allows the player to make one trip to the washroom if the call of nature knocks on the door.

9 - Allows the player to add a new rule to the game. Any player who violates this rule downs one shot each.

10 - The category card. The player comes up with a category (say, American sitcoms) and all players have to come up with a term that belongs to the said category (GG, BBT, HIMYM etc). Loser downs one.

J - Whenever the player in possession of this card performs an action, the slowest player to mimic the action downs one. The player relinquishes the card once another player draws a J.

Q - No player is supposed to reply to anything uttered by the player in possession of this card. The 'question master' rotates once another player draws a Q. Any player who replies to the question master at any point in time downs one.

K - The immunity card allows any player who possesses it to 'Just Say No' to any card/punishment that requires him to down shots. Very useful when one draws a 5 of H/D. Returns to the pile once used.

At any point in time unless specified no player is supposed to utter the name of any player or to point at anyone. Anyone who contravenes these conventions is to down one shot as well.

Our choice of residence for the night

The view from our room. Personnels suffering from acute vertigo are not encouraged to stay at this hotel.

Photobucket
The Singapore Flyer as viewed from the 34th floor..

Christmas dinner at Billy Bomber's. It literally cost a bomb in the end.

Photobucket
A deck of cards, some drinks and alcohol were all that's needed to start off a night of reveling and fun

Photobucket
The game in full motion. I was at as disadvantage (really!) as I'd downed much of the wine beforehand along with Silu.

Photobucket
We finished all the drinks! From the After-Action Review we garnered that
1. There was not enough alcohol, and
2. Plain water is very very very filling indeed.
These would be rectified once NYE came about..

And of course we did not solely drink ourselves to nirvana the whole night. There were Monopoly Deal and LAN sessions as well as a round of 'Super Munchkin' (Click to find out more more) which Samuel bought for 40 bucks along with an instruction manual proportional to its price tag.

Not that we're not sian of playing Monopoly Deal, which is now deeply established as the game of choice in SAF Camps and University campuses. Well done Hasbro. You have successfully came out with a game that overtook 'Big 2' and 'Bridge' as the ultimate card game played amongst bored Singaporean students and NSFs.

Skypark in the morning -
Cool, refreshing and not as crowded as the previous afternoon. The view's simply stunning too. Though I do not advise anyone to spend $20 just on the scenery itself as the pool's only for hotel guests.

A shout-out goes to Aaron, Augustine, Mr Hu, Woon, sY, Silu, Jontan, Jontay (who rushed down from work at midnight), Louis, Linyi and Samuel - Thank you all so much for your awesome company. It was great meeting up with S6A people once more even though it'd been a year since the A's, even if the sheer number of people queuing at KFC's in the morning forced everyone else behind us to give up waiting.

College life just never ends doesn't it? :D

Lastly, just a point of clarification - I was still sober mentally at the end of the game - albeit with a rather stretched temper. Oops.

The first day of work in the new year approaches in 5 hours. Let's hope for a peaceful and fruitful 341 days before I go 'ORD LOH'.

Greetings from 'The Grid'.

May this year be as more prosperous and fulfilling than the last; And for all of you guys out there chasing your dreams I sincerely hope that this will be the year where you'll achieve breakthroughs and move on to the next level.

Countdown at Pan Pacific overlooking the Bay and getting a real-time unrestricted view of the fireworks is amazing indeed. We should have this kind of gathering every year.. Maybe MBS in 2011 for a start?

Lost in Translation..
Tuesday. 12.28.10 11:50 pm
The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration.
Pearl Buck, 1938 Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature

It's a travesty, I say.
For I had not yet receive any Christmas cards this year.

Still holding out hope that it's at least stuck in a pile of undelivered letters somewhere, or that the postman will actually discover it stuck to the bottom of some post office collection bin.

In any case, I've sent out my first cards this year. Not too many though given the lack of addresses of some friends that were to be on my mailing list.

Truth be told, it's definitely not easy to actually get down to writing/ drafting the content of one. And to also think of ways to decorate it (think - fake blood). Just like how I'm actually supposed to be preparing a card for someone but just can't get the energy to actually take out the markers, run through the draft, test out the combinations and last of all.. To fish out the stack of plain unadulterated cards from some drawer.. Somewhere.

Three more days to the end of the year. Wow, that's quick.

Once upon a time..
A motorboat suddenly came to a standstill in the middle of the vast blue sea.
The boatman pulled on the motor once.
And the engine sputtered momentarily..
Then died once more.
Undeterred, he yanked it with greater force and conviction.
"Brrrrrr.." went the motor and the boatman was relieved.
Unfortunately, the whir disappeared soon after.
So what now is the boatman to do?
Should he try and try and try again
Even as the futility of it all begins to sink into him?
Or would it serve him better to
Just lie down on the boat, stare into the heavens
Dream of what it could and would have been
And simply await and accept the inevitable?

Alas, our journey through life is always full of unwholesome crossroads.
Whereby we are forced to weigh up our options and make some tough decisions.

Let's hope that 2011 can be different..
That the choices be simpler
And the end be merrier.

Revamped
Monday. 12.27.10 10:20 pm
Good day to all,

Revamp of this site has been completed at 2200 hrs on 271210.
Actually it just consisted of changing some colours, headings and of course the background picture. Nothing too elaborate or spectacular (a la @memoriesintime).

Then again, enjoy the new (more aesthetic IMO) look as all of us start planning resolutions for 2011.

Happy Holidays to all (:

Thanks and best regards,

Its Christmas..
Saturday. 12.25.10 2:49 am
.. but I guess there's no wish I can make that'll ever turn this shit I'm in into a happy ending. When two or more Christmas wishes collide, just exactly who's will end up the being fulfilled? Its pointless.. These wishes are simply meant for one to like.. Believe that something will happen *snaps fingers* like that. Its admittedly a mere psychological device above all else.

Just woke up and I'm now currently in the midst of a rather nasty hangover. Not much regrets on my part for drinking like there's no tomorrow a few hours ago on the context of 'celebrating the start of the holiday season'. In a happier time and age my wish'll probably be one that goes along the line of 'I can end up holding my liquor well'. Then again, I've thrown all niceties out of the window once and for all now that my mood has been rather drawn out these few days.

Alright, maybe I'll be in a better state of mind come morning. Then as evening draws near I will be updating this site from Aaron's suite at MBS. Welcome to another alcohol-filled night. Just the perfect tonic for my unrelenting Yuletide woes.

Info will never come as easily as it once did. Sighs.
Hate this new world order promoting 'world peace' at my expense.

Indescribable Feelings
Sunday. 12.19.10 11:02 pm
WARNING - THIS POST WILL NOT MAKE FOR LIGHT READING.
Though the festive season's coming soon blah blah

Completed typing out a post before the Internet died on me which resulted in me spending around one hour on the line with the call center dude before I got my Facebook back. And my laptop is displaying tell-tale signs of old age, 10-minute restarts notwithstanding.

I have to admit that I was very impressed with the quality and orientation of the Singtel call center operators. Though I have a hunch they actually outsourced it to the subcontinent or something. Maybe I should be as nice and friendly at to all those who call the Registry during working hours.

My original post was titled 'Six Days to Christmas' but there was little, if no, joyous prose contained within. Misnomer much.

It had been a rather eventful week bar Monday, and it all seems so surreal thinking of it.

As I was writing..

It is easy for a person to verbally commit to waiting. Yet does he actually grasp fully the consequences of this, which are pretty much extreme on both ends of the spectrum? Either the gamble pays off and he attains his goal; or he will just be made to look like a fool waiting for a train that had already departed (admittedly the most plausible outcome).

That's why it can be much kinder to JUST SHUT THAT DAMN DOOR RIGHT IN HIS FACE. Leave it a little ajar by offering up a reply that is neither here nor there and you're so totally giving him hope to carry on , regardless of what he insinuates. The litmus test for true friends will be those who can actually get over this (and use this episode to strengthen their friendship in the long run) instead of breaking off ties completely.

Hm. Food for thought?

It sucks to be on the receiving end of so many negs.

Suspicion. Played into everyone else's hands there.
Irritation. Others seem so nice and sensitive when used as a barometer.
Annoyance. Made it so linked to myself that it effectively discounts anyone doing the same things albeit in different guises.

3 + 6

Those 9 words keep repeating themselves like some screwed up cassette permanently winding and rewinding itself in a long-abandoned player. Humbling yet humiliating at the same time though it isn't exactly the very end.. Theoretically at least.

On a final note, '-.-' and '=.=' are now my newest virtual best friends. Yayyyyy

Emo..
Welcome to my life (:

P.S. I'll post something happier soon.. Hopefully.. >.<

And as Hell Freezes Over
Tuesday. 12.14.10 11:55 pm
Where else do I go but downhill from here.

I need distractions, and they arrived by the bucket-load by the time I knocked off from work today. What a far cry from yesterday a cursed Monday the 13th 'o' December.. Where Murphy decided to work his magic and have his Law come true in so many facets of my life.

Have been tasked with compiling and summarising lots of Annexes as well as churn out many reports in the coming few days (weeks) coupled with a mega-project on Parade and Ceremony SOP, and I hope these will seriously be enough to keep my mind occupied and away from not so nice stuff.

Anyways, my undergrad friend(s) over at NTU have just commenced their Finals.. All the best, if you are like online and reading this (: Holiday season coming soon, so study study study first before enjoying.. Haha.

I went to Viwawa, saw the game rooms, saw the hosts, and then decided to log off silently.

What to do when you're just akin to a little midget facing the might of a juggernaut in its full glory?

I feel so scared for our quite friendship now. Oh man.. Please tell me it is all a dream that went very very wrong.
