Conflicting instructions whether we need to bring our barang barang along, given that some say must since its a stay-in training phase while others say they will give us stuff there.

Maybe even.. we'll have nights out just to go home and lug all our stuff over the next day. Hm. Won't that be great? Then book-out on Friday ^^

Well.. Had a not so mundane weekend again. Maybe can squeeze out a post before sleeping?

Nine days of block leave has ended just like this. Fast eh?
Well some people can't wait to see me back in camp though.. >.<

The BMTC ePosting Order was supposed to be out at 1000 (+8 GMT). I say supposed. As expected by many of us, the server crashed due to (?) and was only accessible in the afternoon. So much for a 3G Army.. And its servers can't handle traffic from a few thousand computers plugging in at the same time.

Anyways, I did not get into command school. Not sure whether it's a blessing in disguise or not, but I'm happy with what I got in the end considering how I only passed my IPPT (not Silver or Gold mind you) and just literally sat down during my Sit (Situational) Test. Many of my friends and company mates got posted to a whole host of random vocations. The lucky ones (majority) posted to support units while the not-so-lucky ones got to be riflemen, sea sailor, or combat medics (support medics have a much easier time..) or even guards (not that I know of personally).

Many in my platoon became drivers though >.< And apparently a lot in the company got posted to Regimental Police. Lucky break then if you fail IPPT and got posted to these two vocations.

Well, congratulations to Jontan and sY who have a chance to invite Judy and Silu to the Commissioning Ball in a few months time and will have their own personalised swords. Also to Jontay who achieved his second dream which is to go SISPEC (as his first dream was taken by me.. LOL). I salute you guys who made it to command school.

Also those from band.. Like 3SG Liu and 2LT Liang. Hehe. A lot from our school got into command schools (as expected >.<). All the best for your training ahead. Its going to be tough, but fruitful in the end when you get to slack for so long.

Those in my bunk.. Yuzhun became a logistic guy over at HQ 8 SAB, Lenny (lucky guy) became a Police Inspector, Josh got into OCS (hopefully get SAFOS as well.. then we'll all have a free dinner courtesy of CPT Sim) and Lux got into SISPEC most probably because of his PR status. Leonyoon got Armour Scout, Junhao 6DIV Infantry scout and Leon Signals. Not sure about the rest.. Haha. In any case, do keep in contact guys!

Well the next phase of our NS lives begin on Monday. Another new dawn. 20 more months before we, 01/10 batch, ORD..

And a word of advice from Jinyao to guys who are yet to enlist...

YAY CONFIRM RECCE TROOPER HOW AWESOME. boys let this be a lesson to all of you: when they ask you to express interest in BMT for command school, just bloody hell say YES.

Did not meet up with the rest at Raffles Place for lunch but met them instead at the Barrage itself in the afternoon. Had opted to route march there by myself after agonisingly missing that damned shuttle bus by one minute. And in the end I reached there at about the same time as the next bus.

The picnic itself fell rather flatly on its face given that none of us actually paid attention to the food being much more interested in the kites that Judy and Jontan brought. One could never get some airtime no matter how hard we tried; whereas the other broke off at the end and got entangled in some tree in the construction site some 500 metres away.

Proceeded on to rendezvous with Samuell over at AMK Broadway KBOX in the evening and booked a room + dinner set for only 20+/pax til about 11pm? Worth it I guess (:

Very obviously I chose all English songs for my set, whereas the rest championed the cause of the Taiwanese singers/bands with the odd Stefanie Sun and JJ Lin appearing in the playlist as well. Did Fireflies as well as a few from Westlife. Have to say some of the background MVs did not match the song AT ALL - for example the MV for Ronan Keating's 'When You Say Nothing At All' featured Thais having fun during Songkran, or the Thai New Year.

Guess Kbox still makes most of its money from patrons singing Mandarin songs.. The Thriller MV scared the girls out through.. Although it looked.. rather retarded and funny? LOL.

Oh and the guys went to sing the Chinese High songs as well >.< Hilarious man.. especially the '满江红..

And the whole purpose of the day's activities was to..
WISH LOUIS a very very HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY
as well as ALL THE BEST for his enlistment the very next day

Its been 4 days coming to 5 since he landed on our beloved little island. Hope he's coping well there.. PES C personnel should have a much easier time there la. (:

Went to Universal Studios Singapore some time ago to celebrate the start of the block leave with some of my classmates. Sad to say it was raining throughout the morning, and even more damning was that many of the more high-profile attractions were down due to repair/inclement weather. Then again, the rain kept many people away, and as a result we could do almost anything we wanted without the hassle of queuing up.

After lunch at the food court (which is YET another tourist trap, with exorbitant prices and substandard imitations of hawker fare). The only reason we chose to dine there was due to the $10 dining voucher that was included as part of the ticket (there's another $5 retail coupon as well).

The crowd level started to pick up in the afternoon and there were long queues at many attractions. Sadly to say, the Singapore theme park, though heavily branded and promoted, seems smaller in size than its contemporaries in other countries. Yet it is a good place to experience the a world famous theme park brand without venturing overseas (and getting disillusioned by the notoriously inefficient Hong Kong Disneyland). And generally many agree that Universal Studios is much more crowd friendly than Disneyland. Also USS appeals to people of all age groups, and is not only focused on milking money from star-struck kids meeting their favourite cartoon characters. At least USS offers attractions from a wide range of genres and time periods.

All in all, the $72 would have been money well spent if not for the closure of Jurassic Park Rapid Adventure and the much-hyped about Battlestar Galatica. Good place to spend the day with a group of friends- enjoying the attractions and taking loads of photographs. I bought a cap from the gift shop as well for memories sake (and to use up that retail coupon)
