I made an order from McDonald's that sent the cashier laughing away!
Friday. 2.13.09 10:37 am
My family can't resist the fries from McDonald's but to minimise the negative effect of its high salt content and to enjoy the crispiness bite of the fried potatoes (though some said it's not), we usually make a special order: fries without salt please...

But I made a even more special order today: I even said it with gusto and confidence, only to realise my mistake when I finished my order: Can I have SALT without FRIES please? Thank you!

Hmm... I wonder how it's like seeing a pile of salt on the tray!?

This waiter deserves the Worst Service Award :)
Sunday. 2.8.09 7:00 am
I went for a project launch dinner and was served by this waiter who did 3 things to win this award:

1. While I was still eating my roast chicken (with it in my mouth!), he took away the plate that has a keropok (that I wanted to eat) on it and left me hanging on to the chicken while he dished out a new plate.

2. I was given a glass of chinese tea and decided to ask for another glass of coke. After finishing the coke that he gave, he took the empty glass and topped it up with chinese tea again! He apparently did not see the chinese tea beside the empty glass! I ended up with 2 glasses of chinese tea and another glass of coke!

3. Lastly, while he was clearing the dishes, he elbowed the back of my head and walked away with realising it!

But not to worry, I didn't complain to the manager about him. decided to give him a chance because nobody is perfect!

living out 4th Feb
teaching the kids this morning is quite a dread, especially when they whine and are unwilling to finish up the work that my wife has assigned for them. i recently had the feeling to pray more for them, especially together with my wife, concerning their attitude towards learning, towards listening and obeying instructions, health and being wise and kind in their actions and speech.

went with my family for lunch at The Makan Place, the newly opened food court at Ngee Ann Poly. It has quite a lot number of local stalls as well as waffle town, subway and hungry jack. prices are definitely cheaper than any food courts you can find in the shopping malls. So you might want to check it out too!

we bumped into Rachel, my wife's ex-tuition student. They are so happy to see each other, having lot of things to catch up and probably dropping by our place in march for a chat.

grocery shopping comes next. my wife love to bring the kids along to help her out. I will "disappear" for a while so that the kids are able to feel useful and not redundant when they are shopping with her. NTUC finest at Bt Timah Plaza is where we usually hang out. The kids are getting really good at picking fruits, vegetables and arranging the grocery neatly in the trolley. I'm sure they will have no problem in the future when they shop for their own.

Ariel had a little episode in the toilet today. Ekklesia is supposed to bring her there and wait for her outside but she misheard that Ariel wanted to make her way back to the supermarket by herself. Ariel accidentally wet herself and was terribly upset and refuse to come out from the cubicle. By now, Ekklesia is long gone and Ariel is all alone in the toilet crying for help. Eventually, some ladies brought her out and my wife managed to find her near the cashiers.

The sky turned grey when we left the place and thank God, it only started to pour when we made it back home with all the groceries. I went to give tuition while my wife did some nature study with the kids. they observed the rain and my wife was trying her best to explain why clouds turn dark before it rains (cos it's so thick that light from the sun can't get through and the bottom appears to be dark!) and how wonderful the rain is designed to fall in droplets and not bucketfuls! imagine the impact if that is so! Chris saw some weird looking bubbles foaming down the bark of a tree and my wife found out later that it is possibly caused by some bugs that use them as a form of protection from predators and for hydration. Now you know where the idea of the foam party in Sentosa comes from! :)

we finally booked our flight to Manila tonight! going by the cheapest budget offer but it still work out to be one thousand plus dollars for the whole family. we will be going there at the end of the month till early march. we hope to take the kids to the beautiful islands there and to visit the christians in our church in manila. It's a stretch in our budget (since my income has gone down quite a bit this year) but we are trusting in God to provide :

On-line Tutoring!?
Tuesday. 2.3.09 11:18 am
I'm exploring the possibility of providing online tutoring service through an all-in-one platform that provides
* web-cam conferencing/audio or text chatting with multiple learners,
* the use of online whiteboard (that can be used for drawings, writing math eqns, diagrams etc),
* instant file sharing and
* live recording & replaying of the entire session at leisure for personal review.

The idea is to provide personal attention through multimedia, one-to-one or small group tuition at the comfort of your home and at the flexibility of time.

Would really appreciate some feedback on this idea:
1. Do you think it's a good idea?
2. Do you foresee any problem in using this method of learning?
3. Would you be keen to sign up if you are a student?
4. Would you be willing to pay the same price as having face-to-face tuition?

If you are keen to have a FREE trial session, please email me at [email protected]
