Saturday. 4.5.08 11:46 am I felt the need to be challenged and to experience something new these days because life has been rather predictable as I teach part-time and homeschool my kids with my wife. I am thinking of bringing my family away for a long trip to experience the diversity of life on this planet but feel kinda lost where to start... I realise that I enjoy having adventures and some degree of unpredictable circumstances in my life or I will slip off to auto-pilot mode that can really make me feel lethargic and unsatisfied. I guess that is why the chronicles of narnia appeals so much to me... I guess that is why my heart skipped when i saw what this family did... I will miss my wife and kids when I go to bangkok on tues... will be away for a week as part of my company's incentive trip and to attend the YYPC organised by the church in Bangkok. will try my best to make full use of my time there so that my wife's hard work of taking care of the 3 of them will not be wasted. I will accomplish what I set out to do during the trip. as to what that is, it shall remain a secret... Comment! (0) | Recommend! LOVE YOU FOREVER a touching story that revolves around a special bond... Thursday. 4.3.08 11:07 am Here is a children story that my wife wanted to read to my kids but could not because she would be moved to tears whenever she starts reading it... The pictures are not available here so please use your imagination :) LOVE YOU FOREVER by Robert Munsch A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth. And while she held him, she sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. The baby grew. He grew until he was 2 years old and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator. He took his mother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, " this kid is driving me crazy!" But at night time, when that 2 years old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep, she will picked him up and very slowly rocked him back and forth. And while she held him, she sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. The little boy grew. He grew until he was 9 years old and he never wanted to come home for dinner. He never wanted to take a bath, and when his grandma visited he always said bad words. Sometimes his mother wanted to sell him to the zoo! But at night time, when that 9 years old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep, she will picked him up and very slowly rocked him back and forth. And while she held him, she sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. The boy grew. He grew until he was a teenager and he had strange friends. He wore strange clothes and listened to strange music. Sometimes his mother felt like she was in a zoo! But at night time, when that teenager was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep, she will picked up that great big boy and very slowly rocked him back and forth. And while she held him, she sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. That teenager grew. He grew up until he was a grown-up man. He left home and got a house across the town. But sometimes on dark nights, the mother got into her car and drove across town. If all the lights in her son's house were out, she opened his bedroom window, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if that great man was really asleep, she will picked him up and very slowly rocked him back and forth. And while she held him, she sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. Well, that mother she got older. One day she called up her son and said, "You'd better come and see me because I'm very old and sick." So her son came to see her. When he came in the door she tried to sing that song. she sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always... But she couldn't finish because she was too old and sick. The son went to his mother. He picked her up and rocked her back and forth. And he sang this song: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my Mommy you'll be. When the son came home that night, he stood for a long time at the top of the stairs. Then he went into the room where his newborn daughter was sleeping. He picked her up in his arms and very slowly rocked her back and forth. And while he held her, he sang: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. Wednesday. 4.2.08 11:43 am just watched BBC's Planet Earth the Future, an extension episode of the original series, talking about what is happening to the animals around the world... they are getting poached rapidly and becoming extinct... their habitations are being destroyed... by people who lived around them... by POOR people who face life and death on a daily basis... to them, these animals' lives are not worth conserving as much as their own... so we realised it's not that they can't be bothered... it's simply because they can't even help themselves... it's simply because the wealthy people in the developed countries are not bothered about them or worse still, find them a bother... it's because the money we earned are often hoarded and wasted on ourselves alone... for selfish and materialistic enjoyments, for entertainment, for upgrades and renovation, for innovation and attractive packaging, for feel-good causes, not good causes... our wealth is not circulated back to those who are struggling for survival... unless their lives are safe, the animals' lives can't be safe either... conservation of animals starts from the conservation of our own race... by not conserving the money we earned for ourselves but sharing it as cheerfully as we can to help those who are really in need... I'm finally getting enlightened about it, are you? It is more blessed to give than to receive... Acts 20:35, the Word of God Comment! (0) | Recommend! My wife's birthday is on April's Fool day! No kidding! Tuesday. 4.1.08 3:01 am The Chronicles of Narnia Saturday. 3.29.08 12:35 pm Recently, our family have been entering into the land of Narnia every time when we board the car and hit the road because of our imagination that came alive with the help of the dramatised audio book of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! Our kids are not sick of it even though we listened to the story many times over! in fact, they can now anticipate the lines of the characters in various scenes. I love this line from Aslan, the Lion: "though the Witch knew the deep magic, there is a magic deeper still which she did not know. Her knowledge goes back only to the dawn of time. But is she could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards." It reminds me of Christ who was the willing victim who committed no sin but yet died on the cross on behalf of our sinful stead so that the veil that separates us from God is torn into two and a new and living way is opened for us to come back to God and Death starts working backwards by Christ's resurrection from the dead and giving all who died but yet believed in His sacrificial death to also be raised from the dead during His second coming again! Meanwhile, we await the release of Prince Caspian, the second of the Chronicles of Narnia. Enjoy exploring the widget below! Comment! (1) | Recommend! As a man thinks in his heart, so he is... Proverbs 23:7 Saturday. 3.29.08 11:24 am If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you're right. If you like to win but you think you can't, it is almost certain you won't. If you think you'll lose, you've lost. for out of the world we find, success begins with a person's will. It's all in the state of mind. If you think you are outclassed, you are. You've got to think high to rise. You've got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize. Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or faster person, but sooner or later the one who wins is the one who thinks he can! Comment! (0) | Recommend! |
