just watched BBC's Planet Earth the Future, an extension episode of the original series, talking about what is happening to the animals around the world...

they are getting poached rapidly and becoming extinct...

their habitations are being destroyed...

by people who lived around them...

by POOR people who face life and death on a daily basis...

to them, these animals' lives are not worth conserving as much as their own...

so we realised it's not that they can't be bothered...

it's simply because they can't even help themselves...

it's simply because the wealthy people in the developed countries are not bothered about them or worse still, find them a bother...

it's because the money we earned are often hoarded and wasted on ourselves alone...

for selfish and materialistic enjoyments, for entertainment, for upgrades and renovation, for innovation and attractive packaging, for feel-good causes, not good causes...

our wealth is not circulated back to those who are struggling for survival...

unless their lives are safe, the animals' lives can't be safe either...

conservation of animals starts from the conservation of our own race...

by not conserving the money we earned for ourselves but sharing it as cheerfully as we can to help those who are really in need...

I'm finally getting enlightened about it, are you?

It is more blessed to give than to receive... Acts 20:35, the Word of God

The Chronicles of Narnia
Saturday. 3.29.08 12:35 pm
Recently, our family have been entering into the land of Narnia every time when we board the car and hit the road because of our imagination that came alive with the help of the dramatised audio book of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! Our kids are not sick of it even though we listened to the story many times over! in fact, they can now anticipate the lines of the characters in various scenes.

I love this line from Aslan, the Lion:

"though the Witch knew the deep magic, there is a magic deeper still which she did not know. Her knowledge goes back only to the dawn of time. But is she could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."

It reminds me of Christ who was the willing victim who committed no sin but yet died on the cross on behalf of our sinful stead so that the veil that separates us from God is torn into two and a new and living way is opened for us to come back to God and Death starts working backwards by Christ's resurrection from the dead and giving all who died but yet believed in His sacrificial death to also be raised from the dead during His second coming again!

Meanwhile, we await the release of Prince Caspian, the second of the Chronicles of Narnia. Enjoy exploring the widget below!

As a man thinks in his heart, so he is... Proverbs 23:7
Saturday. 3.29.08 11:24 am
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you're right.
If you like to win but you think you can't,
it is almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost.
for out of the world we find,
success begins with a person's will.
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself
before you can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go to
the stronger or faster person,
but sooner or later the one who wins
is the one who thinks he can!

WHO SHE IS ... WHAT SHE CAN PERFORM
Tuesday. 3.25.08 10:46 am
ariel was requested to perform with the rest of her class in a show and tell time for her speech and drama class.

As usual, she was excited and happily nodding her head that she will perform for us to see.

When the time came for the performance to begin, she would suddenly switch to her shy mode and stop performing altogether... while the others ran in the show, she would crawl and react very slowly...

As much as we hope to help her to come out of her shell and be bold to perform by constantly encouraging her, we always seem to fail when the show begins...

disappointed as we are initially, God showed to my wife and eventually to me that WHO SHE IS is more important than WHAT SHE CAN PERFORM...

towards the end when the rest of the kids are readily picking up their handiwork of a rainbow to perform, she was taking a long time picking it up because she took the initiative to help another girl to find and pick up the rainbow that she dropped and lost among the cushions...

WHO SHE IS brings us more joy than WHAT SHE CAN PERFORM...

we are very proud of you, Ariel! even if the world thinks otherwise!
