The place is famous for its mountain ranges, the minority people (D'Mong and Dao) who live in primitive villages and the distinct contours for rice padi. Beware of the local women, who can be very persistent touts who speaks pretty good English (they picked it up from tourists)! Some are willing to trek with you for hours before asking you to buy some of their hand-made pouches and bags. Comment! (0) | Recommend! My Experience with Ha Long Bay, Vietnam Thursday. 1.1.09 10:07 am Ha Long Bay is one of the World Heritage Sites. Its beauty is in the thousands of islands, junk boats, floating villages and caves that peppered within the bay. Comment! (0) | Recommend! My Experience with Hanoi, Vietnam Thursday. 12.25.08 1:43 pm Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam (City of the Rising Dragon) but I would call it the City of the Raging Bikes! Motorbikes are the cheapest and most efficient form of private transportation there so majority of the people owns a bike. Since quite a number of people come from farms and rural areas, their traffic rule is simple: horn your way through! no traffic lights in most streets, lanes can change direction when needed, pathways can turned into a motorbike track when there is a jam, you need to cross the streets with the mentality that you can die anytime cos no one will stop for you, they will only avoid you while avoiding others! I'm impressed by the way they maneuver their bikes through the traffic with so much stuff on their back! I will freak out if you ask me to drive there! see how this lady cross the street... See how much stuff he carries!? there are some who carries a few live pigs on their bikes! The best place I stayed: Fraser Suites Service Apartment. It's a lovely place to stay with sumptuous breakfast each morning. The best thing I ate there: grilled fish @ cha ca la vong (the oldest restaurant in the world!? more than a hundred years old!) The weirdest knife I ever seen: do you notice the toe of an animal? The most interesting encounter of history: Seeing John McCain as POW in Vietnam The most interesting site I saw: the wreckage of American's B52 bomber The best drinking experience: Vietnamese coffee by the street side The best riding experience: buffalo cart ride The most enjoyable thing the kids played: Comment! (2) | Recommend! I'm BACK from VIETNAM! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Wednesday. 12.24.08 10:10 am I enjoyed the trip thoroughly! :) I have loads of photos and videos to upload about Hanoi (Capital), Ha Long Bay (World Heritage) and Sapa (Queen of the Mountains)! Stay Tuned! :) Comment! (0) | Recommend! I'm off for holidays again! Saturday. 6.12.08 12:34 pm I will be gone from 7th to 24th Dec! First to Malaysia, then to Vietnam (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Sapa)! Enjoy your holidays!! See ya! :) Comment! (1) | Recommend! |
