You Smell Funny
quote for the day
"You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, 'Why not?'"
"A lifetime of happiness! No man alive could bear it; it would be hell on earth. "
-- George Bernard Shaw
song of the moment
The Hand That Feeds
You're keeping in step
In the line
Got your chin held high and you feel just fine
Because you do
What you're told
But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

What if this whole crusade's
A charade
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood
On which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

So naive
I keep holding on to what I want to believe
I can see
But I keep holding on and on and on and on

Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?
Not all lasagna is created equal
Tuesday. 7.12.05 8:02 am
It's sad but true. Lasagna can be boring and flavorless. I know! I was as shocked as you are! Sandy has been talking about making some for days now, and I have eagerly been waiting in anticipation. Finally, last night it was ready. The smell of lasagna filled the entire house (it's a big house too). I was so freaking excited. I love lasagna! My mom and my grandma make the best lasagna ever. I could eat it all day. So, I take a bite and chew and pause and nearly burst into tears. How can a lasagna take like nothing!?! It was the most dissapointing thing ever. I would have rather had the frozen kind!

The microwave - the most abused modern advancement ever! Microwaves are not supposed to be use for cooking. They are supposed to used for heating. And even then, one should only heat a few select thing in a microwave. An entire lasagna that just came out of the oven does not go in a microwave. Eggs do not go in a microwave. Meat is a definite never. Microwaves should be used for popcorn and frozen foods. And the occasional leftovers. Like spaghetti and rice and veggies that have already been cooked. But you just don't use a microwave to cook. And you don't put meat in the microwave. Ever! Eat it cold or put it in the oven or in a little pan, but don't microwave it. People wonder why homecooked food is so much better than anything else. It's because the food doesn't taste like a rubber band. Almost everywhere uses microwaves to cook things. And that's why most food people eat tastes like a rubber band. Gosh!! So that was my friendly rant about the stupid microwave.

Latest news - I took Jenni to Six Flags on Friday. We had an awesome time - funnel cake included. I got a 4 day weekend cause they ran out of stuff for me to do. We saw War of the Worlds (good) and Fantastic 4 (awesome). I might go see Fantastic 4 again this weekend. Yes, by myself. And I plan on going shopping at the mall on Wednesday because of all the sales. And then Kohl's and maybe the mall on Sunday because I get payed on Friday and babysit Saturday night. I doubt I will have saved up very much money by the end of this summer.

Funny things I heard on the radio today - People make fake phone calls on their cell phones. Evidently it's a very common things to do. In a random survey, 27 out of 29 people claimed to have done it. Evidently guys do it to impress chics. And business people to impress their superiors. Also, another funny thing I heard was this awesome Midas commericial. And it went (more or less) - "Only a few things are certain this summer. Dallas will the hotter than heck and there will be a unstatistically large number of blondes..." I laughed at that one for a long time. And since I'm on the topic, have you ever noticed that in the morning, there is no music on the radio. It's all people, chattering away. Except on the country stations. If you flip over to one of them, there is no chattering, just music. Now why couldn't everyone else do that? It would make my mornings so much enjoyable. Ok, that's all you get today. Ciao.

4th of July
Tuesday. 7.5.05 8:09 am
welcome back from the long weekend. i have a new idea for three day weekends. you should get to come in at noon on the day you come back. all i did this weekend was run, stay up late and get up early. which of course wasn't bad this weekend, but now i have to stay awake to work. well, i didn't go home as planned. but mostly everyone came to me. we went to holly's on saturday and part of sunday. all my little cousins were there. and man, sarah (secretly my favorite for the last 3 years) is an absolute doll. she get all the guys when she grows up. they all make me feel old though. i still think they should all be little babies. so, we all hung out over there took the dreaded family pictures. blick-o-rama! then, on saturday night it was off to kevin and lindsey's. and there was personal time for angus and me. we hung out there and chatted and watched movies. nate was there too, so he kept us entertained. mom and i did loan stuff. it was traumatizing. i practically owe the government my soul. actually i owe it to my mother who owes hers to the gov't. then yesterday we all hung out at grandpa's. mom and kevin cut up a bunch of fruits and veggies and cheese and sliced up a pre-smoked turkey. no formal eating times. just grab and pick at whatever when you get hungry. of course, angus loved it because there was almost always someone eating. and he kept growling and barking at sandy. it was hilarious! he didn't really like her at all. and she didn't like him. but she doesn't really like anyone and no one really likes her, so it's all good. so, mom, dad, and angus went home last night. john's here 'til wednesday and jenni's staying with me until this weekend. i prolly take her to meet dad in fairview sunday morningish.

and the creepiest thing happened last night. i went to bed last night around 11. jenni and i had been watching x-files on my bed, i took out my contacts and kicked her out. she asked me if she should shut any of the doors on her way out. i told her to shut the bathroom door on her side. and i remember her doing it. so, i wake up at some point and that door is open and the light is on. hmmm. jenni always leaves lights on. so i call jenni's name....no answer. i can't see shit. just that stupid light being on in the middle of the night for no reason. so i reach over and put my glasses on. look at the clock. 201am. look down at the floor on the side of my bed so that i don't step on anything wilst trying to turn off the damn light. and lo and behold, there is my brother crouched on the floor hoping i don't see him. scared the shit out of me because i knew he was supposed to be at kevin's. apparently he was creeping around my room to use my laptop. he said kevin's internet needed a password and he couldn't use lindsey's account because it didn't have any administrative capabilities. (kevin's attempt to protect his computer from her) so he drove all the way down to use mine. the weirdest part of that was that i've used kevin's internet a million times without ever needing a password or having any other issues. so i said ok, but then i couldn't sleep. it was all too weird! so, i made him give it back and go home. he could wait the 5 hours until kevin woke up to get on the internet. so, i kicked him out and locked him out. i still didn't actually fall back to sleep until 330. it was just all so weird. so that was my good weekend and my very creepy-odd last night.

Te amo mp3 player
Wednesday. 6.29.05 3:40 pm
So, I got my mp3 player last night. And of course I spent all night putzing around with it. I think I madethe right choice. It's heavier than John's iPod, but I like that because it feels stronger being a little heavier. Like it's higher quality or something. I'll prolly buy an FM transmitter sometime this weekend so I can use it in my car. It's excellent for work though. I don't have to keep changing cds every 45 minutes. That's a definite plus. So, overall I think it was a good investment. Now if I can figure out how to get the cds Kollin gave me onto it or even onto my computer. (Help please!) They play on my computer, but I can't rip them into any program and they don't play in my car. This weekend is 4th of July weekend (duh!), and plans have been made...ish. Amy and her adorable babies and Mary Anne are coming to Holly's for the weekend as well as Grandma and Grandpa. That means my dad will try to get my mom to come up here so they can see everyone. Which means no going home for me. But at least I'll save on gas money. And I'll get to see my baby cousins. I had dinner at Holly's about 2 months ago (wow, it's been that long?!?!), and her babies are so big. I mean Max isn't afraid of me anymore. He loves me now. And that means that Amy's babies are going to seem so grown up. I haven't seen them for a year! I finally have cousins, and I barely ever see them. In other news, I got a raise. Actually, I talked my way into a raise. I mean, it's been over a year. I think I deserve it for all the stress I have to put up with here. And the akwardness of Vicki and Grandpa fighting. So, I made a good argument for my cause, and in less than 30 seconds, I got my raise. And the raise increases my pay by $80 a week. At least for every 40 hour week. Which of course won't last a whole lot longer, but it'll will be nice while it lasts. And the raise will definitely help once school starts. So, until later...

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!
Friday. 6.24.05 8:10 am
We Are The Champions!
San Antonio tightened its defense and held the visiting Pistons to 17 points in the fourth quarter to win the 2005 NBA Championship with an 81-74 victory on Thursday. Finals MVP Tim Duncan scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace the Spurs, who won their third title in the last seven years. Manu Ginobili added 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, and Robert Horry and Tony Parker both chipped in with 15. - Damn my predictions were good.

A 'Kollin-like' Entry
Thursday. 6.23.05 8:59 am
Intro
Today is Thursday. That's right. Almost the end of the week. And thank God because I'm running out of work to do.

Game Day
Today is the big game day. Spurs and Pistons go on to game 7 in San Antonio. Of course, everyone should be rooting for the Spurs. But I realize there are some wackos out there. Predictions - it's close, but Spurs win. Ginobili has most points, Duncan has most rebounds. Horry comes in for a couple threes, but misses the majority of the shots he takes. Parker gets his act together a little and actually makes more than 4 baskets. MVP - Ginobili, Duncan or possible Horry because of game 5. I also see Chauncey Billups stepping up to the plate tonight. He, Hamilton and B. Wallace will be our most serious issues. It'll be close regardless of who wins. But I'll definitely be rooting for the Spurs.

Now Technologically Advanced...
That's right. I finally bought myself an MP3 Player. And not a little one either. It's a Creative Zen Touch 40gb. I've been looking into getting one since I was a sophomore and John got his. But I'm picky, so it's taken a while to find the perfect one.

You like? I decided last summer that I would probably get a Zen. They are well made and lack any serious problems. The biggest complaints I have seen are that the case doesn't have button cut-outs and the shuffle button shuffles through all the music on there instead of only a specific playlist. Wow! Those sounds like serious issues to me! 7-10 business days to delivery! Yay!

Hair Cut
Yeah, it's that time again. Seems like such a waste of money. So, now I have to decide whether to pay someone $20 for it or to just cut it myself. The only thing about doing it myself it that it takes forever. I guess it will depend on how bored and motivated I feel. If I'm bored I'll either do it myself of get it done. If I'm motivated, I'll do it myself.

Rob Thomas
Congrats man! You have made a very impessive CD. I love it. People have to be careful when going solo. Most of them don't make anything anywhere near as good. I mean look at poor Gwen Stefani. He solo debut was nowhere near as good as plain 'ole No Doubt. But Rob was successful. Granted, his song with Santana definitely helped him transition. I'm quite proud of the lead singer of one of my favorite bands. He done good.

I Need A Raise
Yeah, and so does everyone else. I know. But I don't think I'm payed enough for the trauma of what I have to do. I mean, this is a high stress, very boring job. I mean, I could work at Bath and Body Works, doing absolutely nothing and get paid more. The only problem is asking the boss for a raise. I admit, I'm kinda scared of my grandpa sometimes. I know he'll probably say yes if I explain everything and make semi-decent argument. It's just getting up the balls to go ahead and ask.

Poor Location
My gym is so freaking far away. The one closest to the house is a super sport, so I can't go there. I was pissed at first cause the guy who sold me my membership told me that I could go to any club in the world, but now I find that isn't the case. So, I have to go to one that's significantly farther away. And that's just a pain in the neck. It's not vary motivating to know I have to drive 20 minutes to and 20 minutes from every single time I want to work out. So, my temporary solutions are to either do dumb in-house workouts when Chuck and Sandy aren't around or don't bother. Things will back to normal in August though.

Conclusion
I keep forgetting the other things I was going to talk about, so I am finished. Don't forget to watch the game. Have a nice day!

Father's Day Weekend
Tuesday. 6.21.05 8:22 am
So, it was Father's Day weekend...obviously. And that means I went home. It took me four hours to get there on Friday though. That was hell in and of itself. But the rest of the weekend was good. On Friday night Dad took Jenni and I to Black-Eyed Pea and then we played Risk until 4 in the morning. I was winning for a while, but around 2ish I started to give up. I mean, I had been up since freaking 6am! And I only slept 4 hours the night before. So, as usual, Dad won....but we let cause it was Father's Day weekend. Saturday was kinda obnoxious. I spent 5 hours trying to find gifts. Let's just say that I was the only one with a solid present plan. And John is way way too picky. And Jenni is a fruit bat, but that's old news. So, after all that agony, we watched Empire Falls. Good movie. Then, I went over to Ashley's for a whopping 2 hours. In all actuality, I was really tired and didn't want to stay all that long anyway. And don't anyone, but I secretly like Samurai Champloo. I watch it on a fairly regular basis. I know I know, it's anime. I'm disappointed in me too. So onto Sunday. We hung out all morning not really doing anything. Late afternoon was presents. I got Dad a gift certificate to Fry's and a ridiculously large box of (90) Airheads. John got him a couple shirts and Jenni got him all kinds of car crap. So, he made off pretty well. We had a late dinner - as usual - of shishcabobs. And they were good! And then it was game time. I hope you didn't think I would miss it just because I was home. Nope, Dad, Jenn and I watched almost the whole thing, including pregame. And that was a damn good game. recap - Robert Horry finished off a stellar Game 5 performance with a game-winning 3-pointer in overtime to lead the Spurs to a 96-95 victory in Detroit, and a 3-2 lead in The Finals. Horry scored all 21 of his points after intermission, including the game-winning 3-pointer with 5.8 seconds left in overtime. The Pistons missed a shot in the lane during the closing seconds. Tim Duncan led the way with 26 points and 19 rebounds, while Manu Ginobili added 15 points and nine assists. Although, Tim Duncan missed 6 out of 8 of his free throws in the last quarter, and he missed the assist in the last second of the regulation game which led to a tie and overtime. So, if Horry hadn't come in a saved the day, I would have blamed a loss on Duncan. Free throws should almost never be missed. Period. Although he did a lot better on Sunday than on Thursday. After the game I watched Prince of the Tides (or something like that). It was actually really good and terribly sad. So, I went to bed a little after 2am. Then I got up at 5:20am and was out the door by quarter to 6. So, babysitting kinda sucked too. Cedar was a pain in the ass and all I wanted to do was sleep. But somehow I made it through. It must just be his age or something. He's been a pain in the neck lately. So, I didn't actually get back home until 3ish. And I went straight upstairs to bed. Passed out til 7. Ate a sandwich, watched X-2, showered and wacthed 2 episodes of X-files in bed. Then there was sweet sweet sleep. I'm still a little tired today, but it isn't too bad. So, it's already Tuesday. And tonight is game night! That means hopefully that the Spurs will take advantage of being the home team and win the Finals!! Now that would be totally awesome. So watch the game, and until later...
