You Smell Funny
quote for the day
"You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, 'Why not?'"
"A lifetime of happiness! No man alive could bear it; it would be hell on earth. "
-- George Bernard Shaw
song of the moment
The Hand That Feeds
You're keeping in step
In the line
Got your chin held high and you feel just fine
Because you do
What you're told
But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

What if this whole crusade's
A charade
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood
On which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

So naive
I keep holding on to what I want to believe
I can see
But I keep holding on and on and on and on

Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?
There 's daggers in men's smiles

Shelby GT-350 Mustang from 1965
Tuesday. 8.10.04 9:56 am
Well, I come today to share something that might be of a little more interest to the general nutang population. I could tell you what a great weekend I had and how happy I was to see my sister, but pretty much everyone can guess as much. So, I'll tell you a little tid-bit I learned about a week ago at registration.

You see, when I was a really little kid, my love for the Mustang began. My dad a yellow one. I think it was a '76. I loved it sooooo much. I loved riding aroung in the front seat with him pretending I was driving. I love the mustang emblem pressed in the dash. It was beautiful. As I grew up, my dad happened to notice my interest in cars. Since cars are his life, he was happy to teach me about them. Honestly, because I'm a girl, I tend to focus a little more on body style than engine power. I don't necessarily want the high end of the model because sometimes it just looks dumber. Think beetle with spoiler. Or the HumVee 2. But my brother still wasn't interested in cars yet, so my dad worked with me. He explained to me about engines and axles, pistons and brakes. At some point during all this I had decided I would one day own a '65 Shelby GT 350 and a '79 I-Roc Z(both restored to perfection). These were the two cars I loved the most. (okok, I didn't know about the '56 Jaguar Roadster) Well, then I moved back to Texas and saw that everyone had a Mustang. Yeah, everyone. So, my interest in any body style 90s and newer waned. A lot. I only wanted to see old schools models. So, now to the interesting new fact I learned - the reason the Mustang was named what is was. In 1963, Henry Ford was on a quest to create a car that would suit everyone and could replace the discontinued Thunderbird. With a lot of hard work and some very smart people, he managed it. But this car was nameless. That same week, Ford attended a football game between the Michigan Wolverines and the Southern Methodist Mustangs. While the Mustangs were defeated, Ford was intesely impressed by this team. They were strong and never gave up. They may not have been the best that night, but they played their best and everyone watching knew it. The inspiration given to him by this team was enough for Henry Ford to name his new car the Ford Mustang. And all that to say, "How ironic!" I'm going to the school that inspired the name of one of my dream cars. Let's hope it's a sign.

the great giver of life!
Thursday. 8.5.04 9:20 am
I have discovered the great giver of life. Actually, I discovered him quite some time ago, through my mother. But I rediscovered him this morning. He gives me warmth when I am cold. He satifies me and calms me. Yet, he keeps me awake and alert - ready for the day ahead. He takes care of me better than anyone else. Although I have to admit, sometimes, because he is so strong and powerful, he makes me a little nauseous. He is smooth and sweet, and stands with a commanding presence. His origin is written all over him. He is coveted by most. But I will never have to share him, unless I would so choose. He has sexual choclate mixed into every part of him...

Ok, so the last part may be stretching it a little bit, but he is mixed with chocolate. And what is he? you ask. Where can you find all of your own? Well, just drop into your neighborhood Starbucks and tell them you need a triple venti mocha stat! It's got enough caffiene to send you to the moon and back. And it tastes oh so good. What can I say? I was tired this morning, and I knew he would do the trick.

Alrighty Jenn. Here's a list of all the Kangaroos I want.

And I want them in that order. And I really really want the first two pairs. They're pretty hot! But I want them all. Actually, I can't decide whether I want the orange ones more or the blue. Oh well, I buy whatever ones I don't have after my birthday.

I'm so freaking giddy! Man, i had the best day yesterday. I thought it wasn't going to get better than last weekend until this weekend. Boy was I wrong. But I'm glad I was wrong. Let me see. I must start from the beginning. So, I'm all freaking out about this whole loan thing and I called Mom Sunday night. We talked about it and I was going to have my grandfather sign it. So yesterday while I was searching for car insurance quotes, and she called me at work and said it was all taken care of. She got approved for a Sallie Mae loan in like 10 seconds. I was so excited. The only drawback is that I might have to start paying on it next year, but I'm glad we got it taken care of. Then I got to get my pictures. I have all my New York pictures now plus pictures all the way to the band banquet and camp last year. Those were fun to look through. I reminisced about better youth group days. Then, while I was already happily watching Sex and the City - season 3 - my phone rang. My mom was calling for the second time that day. How unusual. Well, she called to say that some lady called her and said they would give me insurance for about $130/month. Now I know everyone must be wondering why we would do this when we are only $108 now. Well, this is the exciting part. That was the quote for me to drive *drum roll please* the Stealth!!!!!!! EEEEeeeeeeeKKKKKkkkkkk! You see, when my dad came up this weekend, he told me that he and Mom talked about switching cars and titles and such with me because our family really does need five cars. I'll explain that in a minute. The only problem was that the insurance people I have now said it would be $300/month to switch to the Stealth. To which we all said "hell no!" So I was just going to keep driving my little Hercules around for a few more years. But I went ahead and browsed for like 10 minutes yesterday on the net just in case. Well, turns out, nothing I could find would offer better than $330/month. But then Mom called. So, Dad and I are going to hash out gory details this weekend. So, Ares could be coming home with me soon. Oye, I'm so excited. So many good things are hapening. Hopefully they'll stay that way when school starts.

Oh, and the 5 car thing. Think about it. Mom has the BMW, John is about to have the GT, I have Hercules, my dad has his work van and Ares for when he's not working. See, it all makes perfect sense. Just imagine when Jenni starts driving.
