You know you're from PA when:

-You say the correct pronunciation LANG-kist-er instead of the mispronounced Lan-CAST-er, and LEB-en-in instead of the equally incorrect Leb-a-NON
-You live within two miles of a plant that makes potato chips, corn chips, pretzels, candy, or ice cream, or that packages turkeys, beans, or bologna
-You can stop along the road to buy fruits, vegetables, or crafts on the "honor system."
-You only buy your beer and soda by the case
-You think the roads in any other state are smooth
-You know the Penn State cheer, and although you've never attended PennState, you are a most obnoxious Penn State fan. (WE ARE...ANNOYING!)
-Hearing horses clopping down a paved street doesn't bring you to the window to see what's going on outside
-You never see any Confederate Flags, except on the Gettysburg Battlefield
-You prefer Hershey's Chocolate to Godiva
-You consider Pittsburgh to be "out west," and you know the fastest way to Philly is the Turnpike
-School closings due to snow take the radio stations a half an hour to finish, because just about every town has its own school district
-Know that Yuengling is pronounced "Ying-ling," and believe that it really is a premium beer
-Have the Rolling Rock bottle memorized: "From the glass lined tanks of Old Latrobe, we tender this premium beer for your enjoyment. . . . "
-Know that Wilkes-Barre is pronounced "Wilks Berry."
-Can pronounce "Knoebels."
-Can pronounce (or spell) "Schuylkill."
-Have a day off school on the Monday after Thanksgiving, which is the first day of hunting season
-Never have to worry about being stuck in a ditch when it's snowing. -someone in a 4WD pickup with tow chains will be along shortly
-Elect pro-life Democrats and pro-choice Republicans for Governor (i.e., Casey and Ridge)
-Frequently go "with," e.g., "You going to the market? Mind if I come with?"
-Refer to something as "a whole nother," e.g., "That's a whole nother issue."
-You've ever "warshed" the laundry, the car, etc.
-You drink "pop", eat "hoagies", pierogies, and gyros
-You've never referred to Philadelphia as anything but "Philly." And New
Jersey has always been "Jersey."
-You refer to Pennsylvania as "PA"
-"You guys" is a perfectly acceptable reference to a group of men & women
-You learned to pronounce Bryn Mawr, Wilkes-Barre, Schuylkill, Bala Cynwyd,
Duquesne, New Tripoli, Tunkhannock, Punxsutawney, Tamaqua, Susquehanna,
Allegheny, and Monongahela
-You know what a "Mummer" is, and are disappointed if you can't catch at least
highlights of the parade
-The first day of buck and the first day of doe season are school holidays
-You can use the phrase "fire hall wedding reception" and not even bat an eye
-You can't go to a wedding without hearing the "Chicken Dance," at least one
Polka and either an Italian song (sung in Italian,) or "Hava Nagila."
-You not only have heard of Birch Beer, but you know it comes in several
colors: Red, White, Brown, Gold
-You know several places to purchase or that serve Scrapple, Summer Sausage
-You have 10 favorite recipes for venison
-The local paper covers National and International headlines on 1/4 page but requires six pages for sports
-When someone says 1972, you think "Agnes"
-When it snows, they put cinders on the roads instead of sand
-You ask the waitress for "dippy eggs" for breakfast
-You know that Blue Ball, Intercourse, and Paradise are located relatively close to each other

NOT down with the sickness...
Tuesday. 6.22.04 9:58 am
Yesterday was definitely the worst day I've had in a very long time. I don't even remember the last time I was that sick. It sure reminded me how much I hate throwing up. I felt nauseous for a while the night before, then all the fun began late that night/early yesterday morning (if you want to be testicle about it). I was supposed to fill in at work for Corey since he had an interview, but there was no way I was gonna make it to work. I still feel a little under par today, but nothing like the past 32 hours or so.

On a much brighter note, I'm excited for concerts coming up in July. I practically invited myself when Amy told me about the FREE Ben Folds concert in Buffalo, NY on July 3rd, but it was cool anyway. Doesn't look like I'll be seeing Dave in Hershey with Coots, but that's alright, I'm sure I'll see them in concert again sometime. And last, but most certainly not least, it's gonna be good times going with Todd, Cara and Brian to see Evanescence, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, and some other band in Philly on the 23rd. That weekend's gonna rock.

You suck. Stop that...
Monday. 6.14.04 5:37 pm
Most of you who I assume read this already know about the ridiculous 17 hour work day I had on Saturday, thanks to the Radisson, that never seems to amaze me with its lack of mental vigor. It was so careless of me to assume I would actually work 2-10, not 2-fuckin' 5 the next morning. So, not exactly to my surprise, I was told after I had gotten there, "Oh, thank you in advance. I put you down to close *shit-eating grin*" and ended up working there from 2pm to 2:30am. I went in there with the mindset that I was going to use that day as a test to see if I would stick it out for the summer or not. Obviously, I said fuck this, nothing has changed, nor will it anytime soon. So, before I left, I wrote a not and left it on my manager's desk. I had the greatest urge to copy Jon Masters and simply write, "You suck. Stop that.", but I wrote out that the note is my two weeks notice. I have to laugh too, because, as usual, I'm not scheduled at all for this week, so I have a whole week off out of my last two. Whatever, fuck 'em, I don't care anymore.

DG still sucks with hours and Mike's a douche. At least the job itself isn't exactly shitty. Once again I'm stuck with shitty hours though. This working every other day nonsense is crap for crap. I'm calling Kyle Viera later on tonight to find out if he can hire me to work with the contractor, painting. I'd do it in a second; it's 40 hrs/week and I think it starts at $6.50/hr. Williamsport just sucks at life when it comes to jobs.

On a brighter note, I'm slimming down. My size 32 JNCO khakis no longer cut off circulation because of my lard. However, they're probably permanently stained now because I burned my hand on the dish and spilled lasagna all over my pants at lunch today. I definitely had a case of the Mondays today. Ho well, I just laugh and take it in stride.

Kick you in the FACE!!...
Friday. 6.11.04 3:37 pm
I feel like all I do when I write entries is complain about my jobs. My apologies to whomever reads this and is tired of hearing about my shitty jobs. However, I have more about which to complain. I looked forward to working today for the sole reason that today is payday. However, unlike, oh, everyone else, I did not receive a paycheck today. It basically boils down to the fact that my former manager Cindy started me working before I was entered into the computer system. Therefore, I did not show up on payroll and did not receive a check. I especially enjoyed my interim manager, for lack of a better term, Mike's I-could-care-less attitude about seeing that I get paid for those 12 hours I worked. It's a simple situation, really; all he has to do is add 12 hours the whopping 16 I worked this past week. Otherwise, I'm done. This is way too much bullshit for a rather mediocre job.

"but I'm doin the best I can"...
Wednesday. 6.9.04 10:01 pm
Today wasn't too bad. I spent the majority of the day recording songs and then tweaking them in Cool Edit. From what I had done last night along with today, I have 7 songs recorded (well, 5/6 full songs, depending on how you look at it, and one that's the start of a song). Not that I exactly have a band, but I'm calling it the "Thoughts Without Words" EP. My whole purpose for recording the songs was to be able to listen to them in order to work out lyrics. It's hard enough just to play the guitar part a lot of the time, so I thought I'd make it easier on myself for the next hurdle. Heh, I've been all giddy about it, whoring out my music to my friends, but whatever, I'm proud of what I've done and I'm allowed to show it.

My mom joined another book club (which is located in Camp Hill, like the other two we belong to. There must be some massive colony of book clubs there, it's kinda weird), and we got the books she had ordered. I now have my own copy of The Da Vinci Code, along with Grimm's Grimmest (the uncensored, gruesome stories by the brothers Grimm) and Signs, Symbols, and Omens by Raymond Buckland (a symbolism book!). I'm excited to eventually read them.

Since I'm on the topic of books, while I was on my lunch break one day at DG, I went across the street to this store called Pagination (a used books and giftshop kind of place). It was pretty nice in there, and they sell the books at a good price--$5 for hardback, $2 for paperback. I didn't spend the time to thoroughly scrutinize the shelves, but I did see the Vampire Chronicles set by Anne Rice, which is only $8 since they're paperbacks. Once I finally start getting paid, I'll most likely end up buying some books in there. I'm such a nerd.

On the topic of jobs, it's such a mess. The whole job deal blows. It's sad, but I actually miss doing physical labor for the Camp Hill borough, because at least I know that was always a 40 hr/week job. I've been working basically every other day at DG since there's this lack of management (since they fired them all), and I haven't even started back at the Radisson yet. I must admit that I was very surprised my manager from the Radisson actually called me twice. I don't like sitting around and doing nothing. Something has to be wrong when I don't enjoy days off. Hopefully things will get rolling with these jobs and I'll make it through the summer, hopefully saving up a good amount of money. Next year though, screw this haphazzard bullshite, I'm gonna look for a job and hopefully be hired before summer break even begins, that way I can start working in May as soon as I get home.
