It's beer 'o clock and I'm buyin'...
Friday. 9.10.04 4:43 pm
Thank God it's friday. Owned the second quiz in Greek this morning, had crap for lunch, watched a movie in Jazz, then hung out with Work and Mark Henne. It was cool hanging out with Jon and Mark. I think I need to do that more often. We ran some errands (aka, picked up a handle of Vlad, a bottle of Kuya rum, and a case of Lionshead), then chilled in Jon's room for a while. We listened to the new MMW CD Mark bought and drank a couple pitchers...let's just say Band wasn't so bad today since I had about five bottles in me. Now I get to change into nerd wardrobe for the pep rally, then it's off with Yorty to Wally and Weis to get the rest of the supplies needed for tonight. Tonight's gonna rock so hard--beer pong (on the SPAA door, nonetheless) in my room. Can't wait. Should be good times had by all.

Aww fuckberries...
Tuesday. 9.7.04 4:46 pm
I decided to go to the Health Center after Counterpoint today, since I've had this persistent, annoying cough since last Monday. It was kinda funny, yet kinda creepy at the same time, when the nurse gave me a preliminary check-up. I told her that I started coughing after moving into my room, more than likely because of the mold growing in my closet. As we were talking and she was taking my pulse and blood pressure, she asked if I had been to the gym, and I said yeah. Then she commented on me having no pulse, aka my circulatory system owning (my pulse was 56), and my blood pressure was 102/60. She asked what sports I played, so I told her I haven't been in sports since high school, but I used to swim and do track. She goes on about how I should do track and whatnot, then after I bring up that I'm a music major she asks if I sing and I said I'm not in choir this year, and she says how I have a nice voice and need to sing and would be good on the radio and shit. It was kinda funny, and yet kinda weird/creepy like she was hitting on me or something, I dunno. Anyway, the doctor comes in and checks out my throat, ears, nose, etc., and says that she could see in my nose and throat that I have an allergic reaction (which makes sense since I'm allergic to penicillin, which is basically mold). So she gave me a handful of allegra pills to take once a day. That means there's obviously still mold in my closet, which is causing me to having this coughing problem because of an allergic reaction. I think I need to e-mail Ward Caldwell again to get someone back down here to do the job right.

It's been a whole week since I've updated. There have been a bunch of things that I could write about, but I just read an e-mail that has left me sitting here feeling something for which there isn't a word. Seemingly out of nowhere, I got an e-mail from my mom that says she's going to give me space and to call or e-mail her whenever I want to talk about anything. The last line was a short and sweet "make sure you take care of yourself and remember that I love you." Man, reading that just kinda hit me like whoa. I didn't have a fight or anything with my mom. Her e-mail makes it sound like I fought with her and didn't want to talk to her or have her so close in my life. I know that I've steadily been changing (or "evolving" as I like to think of it), but what am I doing that's making my mom feel she needs to give me space? I dunno, perhaps I'm reading into it too much and she's simply saying that she's letting me go in the sense of going out on my on as all kids eventually have to do. It just struck me in an odd way, and made me feel really uneasy.

Always look on the bright side of life...
Tuesday. 8.31.04 2:03 pm
I'm pleasantly surprised by how quickly my issues have been addressed and taken care of. The easiest situation was my scheduling conflict, where I simply dropped Philosophy of Religion and added 18th Century Counterpoint. I still want to take that class, so hopefully I can take it senior year, or perhaps I'll do a summer semester, I dunno. The situation with books worked out well. I ended up using my whopping $66 voucher to buy the two books for Greek (since they're interesting and I'll keep anyway), Dr. Long said I didn't need to worry about buying the books for Recording Techniques until next year, I doubt I'll even need to read the book for Jazz (but if I do, Rory and Jon Masters are in the class and they live right next to me), and I have the book for Counterpoint covered, so that's all worked out. Thankfully, a guy showed up this morning to look at my moldy closet, and he said he'd send someone to take care of it in within the next day or so. The guy showed up maybe an hour and a half later and said he'd get a ladder to get up there and scrape off the moldy wallpaper, then have someone come paint it. So, I came back a while ago and almost asphyxiated myself once I opened my door, but hey, I'd rather deal with that than mold. All that's left is for someone to come paint it. So far, so good...

'Ol Drippy's in my closet...
Monday. 8.30.04 9:02 pm
So, today was...interesting. Woke up around 8am to see if I needed to go to financial aid to fix the bookstore voucher issue, before having class at 10. Well, I wake up and get around, but don't hear back from financial aid til about 8:30/8:45, saying that because of this surprise fee they have, I won't have as much as I thought, and that I needed to meet with the business office to get my voucher. So, I go to Greek, go to lunch and register for classes, pick up a drop/add card (since I have to drop Philosophy of Religion and I'm picking up 18th Century Counterpoint), check mail and whatnot, and still don't have a voucher. So, I went to Jazz later on, then came back in my time off between Jazz and Recording Techniques II. Here, I received an e-mail from the business office, telling me to go talk to them in the campus center (where I was less than 2 hours prior). So, I walk over and talk to them, and the lady shows me the itemized file of my costs and financial aid and whatnot, then figures it out and tells me I have $66 for this semester thanks to the surprise $310 fee, but I'll have almost $400 in the Spring. Well, that's lovely, but I said I needed to buy books now and was counting on my extra financial aid to cover it. For some reason or another, they couldn't transfer some of the $400 to this semester, so I'm stuck buying two books ($30 a-piece, of course). It'll work out, though. Dr. Long is awesome and said I don't need to buy the books for his class, then I have people I can mooch off of for the other classes I'm taking.

On another excellent note, I believe there is mold in my closet; and even better, I've gotten stuffy today and whatnot. Awesome. I e-mailed res life about it, and they had best come do something about it right away (without making me move all my shit out, or else I'll finally lose my calm attitude and flip a shit). Fun fun fun fun fun fun; at least all this bad shit's happening right away, so I can relax a bit and enjoy this semester.

*Cue Whitesnake* "Here I go again"...
Monday. 8.30.04 7:13 am
I'm finally back to SU, after enduring one of the crappiest summers I can remember (save my trips to Canton/Troy and Harrisburg/Carlum). Naturally, some things had to go wrong/be messed up as soon as I got here. I think someone humors themself by testing me. Anyway, to explain, I got here nice and early yesterday morning, so I stopped at the campus center to pick up my keys/check mail/whatnot. I open my mailbox and find my schedule and a bunch of other shizcrap, but no bookstore voucher. I look at it optimistically and figure there must be a bookstore account set up for me then. Naturally, there isn't a bookstore account set up for me, nor did the bookstore know anything about me having the money to use there. So, that means that, despite my two e-mails asking for a bookstore voucher (the second one sent after we got another loan and therefore had the excess funds with which I'd use for buying books), the financial aid office somehow "overlooked" documenting that I have extra money for books. I'm up nice and early today because I most likely have to walk over to the financial aid office and give them a dose of "ummm, hello? ummm hi?" (aka, "why are you retarded? thanks to you I have no books yet).

As if that wasn't fun enough, I received a copy of my schedule and realized that I'm retarded and somehow overlooked the fact that Philosophy of Religion and Forum overlap, and since I need the Forum credit to graduate, I have to drop Philosophy of Religion (which I was really looking forward to taking this semester). Yay having the I.Q. of Ketchup. I'm gonna take another music elective, since I need 6 semester hours total, and I only have 2 or 3 so far.

On a bright note, my room here in the SPAA house is sweet. It's normally an average double, but since I have it all to myself, it makes an awesome single. I have practically everything unpacked and set up, all I need to do yet is hang up posters and whatnot. It's gonna be such a party room, especially next semester when I'm legal and I'll be stocked with the essentials.
