I am a Health Educator living in the United States. One of my jobs is to teach people of all ages and religious backgrounds to protect themselves from HIV infection. I also advocate for funding that will help find better treatments and one day, God willing, a cure for this disease.

As both a health educator and I person concerned with global healthcare justice, including for the people of Iran, I urge you to reconsider the imprisonment of the of Alaei brothers, renounced Iranian AIDS researchers. The brothers were not attempting to communicate with an enemy government; they were talking to other AIDS researchers. Attempting to end a global plague that affects every person on the planet, either directly or indirectly, is no crime. No one should sentenced to die for doing it. The Alaei brothers deserve the praise of their government; not it�s punishment.

They�re going to kill them. The AIDS doctors; I mean. According to the Short, Sharp Science blog posted yesterday. I�m outraged. I�m going to do something. I just don�t know what that something is. Any ideas, folks? I�m calling and faxing the government of Iran on Monday. I never did it the first time (sorry to admit, although I told tons of over folks, too and think many did; I was just too ill and sore). However, now I�m better and really going to help stick it to the Iranian government. I hope you will all help me, by phoning, faxing, and forwarding to your networks. Tell them why you are calling � something along the lines of, �I want to voice my objection to the trial of the Alaei brothers, on the basis that you have to communicate with other researchers if you want to cure AIDS.�

I am also going to conduct my own fax zap; and this time I really will do it, For people who don�t know what that means, it means either doing it yourself with your own personal fax machine or paying someone $20 or so to repeatedly send the same fax to the same number. My poor assistant can't come to work today (apparently, her dad didn't believe her that she needed to work and took her car). She's really upset and crying on the phone, so I believed her. Because you can't fake that! At least, I found someone who can help me come and pee, eat, and so on. It got be worse.

Watching the Monk episode and curling up with my cat is the end of a pretty productive day for me. I got a x-ray, I emailed a old love interest that I found on Facebook, go me for being assertive. I'm not usually very assertive in these matters as people who regularly read this blog can attest I also did a interview for a new mobility magazine over the phone and I am very nervous to how it turned out. I was honest that's all I can say.I filled out two grant applications didn't take any naps. Again I am pretty proud of myself for being so productive. Its the best day I have had in a week, that's pretty sad actually.

This has been the longest day. At first, I barely wanted to get up even to go to my wheelchair appointment (which I made myself do by the way). Then, I had an annoying email from people I work with. Then, I got a headache. Then, I took a nap. Basically, all I want to do is crawl back under the covers and stay there until this day is over.

But nothing ever got done that way. Instead of doing that, the mechanics and the seating coordination guy figured out what was wrong with my chair and what parts they needed to order. Now I'm back in my old chair just waiting for the new parts to come in and I must say it feels safer. On the job front, I talked to my co-coordinator and we got stuff dealt with. Not permanently, but for now. Permanent dealing will have to wait until March or so. My headache is gone. That's a good thing. Now I'm writing so I'll earn a little money today.

Today, I am under the weather. I had to fight for access at a musical event I want to go to. Tomorrow, I'm going to fight for access at the wheelchair place (I need a new chair, I think). I hate this, fighting for access always makes me feel trapped and small.
