As I've told you before, my great grandmother had three rules you had to abide by on New Year's Day if you wanted to have a good year. I've already done the first two. I left the house which means I won't have a sickly year and not be able to leave the house a lot. m That's good because I plan to enjoy living in my new house in Northampton. I have many activities I want to go to and if I was sick I would not be enjoying them. I've also completed the helping others task which means I will not have a year where no one is helpful to me. I've completed this task in two ways. One, I've donated to a homeless shelter founded by my friend (rest in peace Utah Phillips), and I've helped out one of my assistants to get her phone reactivated. The only thing that remains is being productive. I was going to do that by promoting my blogs on this list of 150 blog promotion sites. However, you have to know more about computers than I do to do that. Instead, my productivity will be limited to posting. Oh well, you can't have everything. At least, I know I won't have a sloth-like year which my great grandmother said was a threat if you weren't productive on New Year's Day. I can't afford to have a slothlike year when it's my first year paying real rent. Sure my parents will be around if I get in a crunch, but I'd rather not ask them for help. I hope everybody is off honoring whatever superstitions they honor this day. Good luck in 2009.

I had a very boring New Year's the most exciting thing is a phone call I got from my mom telling me that- yay!- I am a aunt. I can't believe that my kid brother is married and has a baby. I remember when he was aboutt to lose his virginity and was asking me for advice. I am a health educator so it made since. But it was still traumatic.

In my memory he still eight. His big sister is having some adjustment problems.

It snowed again and they canceled the disability van service rides. Of course, right after that the snow stopped. But it would have still been dangerous for me to go out, stand up, and get in a manual wheelchair to go home. My assistant who lives right across the parking lot slipped three times just walking to my house and she walks normal.

Today, I'm feeling kind of bummed. It's supposed to snow. That means I can't go out for New Year's, as I need to take my manual chair, which is dangerous in slippery conditions. I can just see calling my mom and saying I'm in the hospital with a broken leg. That would be fun (or not). I'd never stop hearing about it. I for some reason can't seem to wake up today. At least, I sent in my story and poem to the contest. So, I won't get out this month at least, which several competitors are in danger of.

Hi,

I forgot to post to you all that I got home for Christmas on Tuesday (finally). Today was Christmas and I got lots of loot, several gift cards, some sweaters and a bit of money. I'm going shopping at the post Christmas sales tomorrow. It's the best time to get deals particularly on Nutcrackers, which my mom loves, loves, loves.
