Hanami

So I'm obviously not Japanese, but ever since I found a row of beautiful Sakura trees near my work in an empty field I always did my own version of Hanami each year while the trees were in bloom, providing the ground wasn't wet from rain. Unfortunately this year because of the warm weather the trees are in bloom and have been for a while, almost 2 months early too. It's very sad since shortly before blooming the row of trees were trimmed by the company that owned them. Yes, that's right I coped a squat in the middle of an empty field between office buildings. For a while the company who owned the trees found it very weird and odd, but within a week it was normal to see me taking my lunch break out there on my blanket having a picnic while looking at the trees. Amazing what people can get used to if they see it happen often enough huh? I find looking at the trees or reading under one very calming and soothing, especially when the petals are starting to fall and there's a light breeze.

I finally got around to changing my avy, but decided to keep my layout, too lazy to change it just yet since other projects are taking too much of my time. Don't you think he'd just so pretty? Of course since he's not real it's easy. The guy in the picture is Ayase from Okane ga nai (No Money) which of course is a yaoi. He's the uke...then again that's pretty easy to tell too huh? I just find all of the artwork done with him in it just so pretty. I thought this just screamed "Spring!" so decided to use it over a few others.

My work is probably going to be moving and from what's been said it will happen sometime after summer. I know where we're moving and it's a very good location for a lots of different things. Sure it will be far away from "my" Starbucks, but there is one close by and with any luck they will have good service too. One thing I'm still worried over is the public bathroom. Why you might be asking, after all I do share a bathroom with the female co-workers right now. Simple, I know they wash their hands. I know they use the Lysol in the bathroom. I know they don't do disgusting things. While on Blogmad I ran across this blog. See those three entries under bathroom? Yeah those are my greatest public bathroom fears coming to life!

You all might think that it's a 1 in a million chance that would happen, but I know better. The last place I worked was near a very large company that used a "roach coach" for their lunch. Well they became banned from using that company's bathrooms. When asked by the woman cook we thought nothing of it and let her use the bathroom. That's right the next person to go in saw that she took a crap on the FLOOR! I'm not kidding, it was horrible and all over. I felt soooo horrible for the guy who had to clean it up. That's just wrong. More recently at the job I'm at I've already walked into the worst smelling all over disgusting crap that the person decided not to flush...twice! The only two times I know of where the person didn't use the damned plundger that we have right next to our toilet and who gets stuck walking into it? ME! I know who did it, but since the person is not with the company I'm no longer afraid of when I have to use the bathroom.

So for those of you in the work force and have to share a bathroom in either a very large corporation or with other companies in the shared building how do you stand it? What do you do? The new place is too far away from where I moved to so "holding it" until lunch is out of the question.

Central Air and Heating.

A lot of you guys have central air conditioning and heating in your home. Now maybe you've had this all of your life so you don't realize how wonderful it is to have. I went from living in what one of my co-workers has rencently calls a mud hut to an apartment with central air and heating. So why a mud hut? Well what would you call a place made out of dirt, sand and straw? Yeah mud hut sounds like a good name now huh? At least it had indoor plumbing!

Because my home never had central air or heating and the most I've ever had is either a huge swamp cooler (which did jack crap in the summer which can get 110+) or decent size large window air conditioner I never knew what I was missing. Now that I have moved I know and I do not look back on my memories of the 110+ degree summers or the freezing 30 degree winters with fondness. I know the wonders and joy that 65 degrees does not mean freezing your bum off and having to bundle up. I can now wear what I've always considered spring and summer clothes. I'm sure some of you are thinking how overly dramatic I am making this sound, but I am sure either you suffer like I did without knowing the joy of having central air and heating or you have it and always had. I have come to the conclusion that I will never live somewhere without central heating and air again.

Besides the central air and heating I have remembered the joy of carpet. More then a decade back my mom decided to get rid of all the carpet in my house and replace it with lamenent flooring...on concrete... In the winter the floor would be freezing since it would take on the temp. of outside. No longer do I have to wear socks to bed at night so my feet do not freeze when I wake up.

Over all moving has been pretty smooth. I must admit though I have spent over 400 bucks for things in the house. Like did you know that in order to put up curtain rods in drywall you must drill and put little plastic things so your screws don't fall out? Like I had a drill with a 1/4" drill bit. While having a half bath is very nice having to spend 30 bucks for bath rugs and hand soap was not a highlight. The drawers in our kitchen is shallow so I bought a white rolly thingy with three drawers to be able to put all of the measuring cups, spoons and odds and ends. Just on going really since I've been to Target or Walmart everyday. I love Target, well the one I go to. It's nice, clean and helpful. Walmart on the other hand was a shity hell hole that was just like the one where I used to live...except it had Asians. I still haven't completely emptied all of the boxes. When you're going from 1400 to 952 square feet you're going to have a lot of crap. I threw out most of it when we packed, but it seems we have a lot of stuff, you know things you can't throw away, but you aren't sure where to stick it. I hope to find a home for everything soon.

My "neat freak" genes from my dad are slowly taking over. Ok that's pretty impossible since I'm adopted, but soon enough I'll be the one looking at the dirty light bulb and saying to my boyfriend, "That's dirty we should have the maid clean it." Ok maybe not the maid part, but you never know... I did recently find out how my parents could afford a maid, the nanny was free from the gov. since it was the only way to get my mom to go back to work. It seems everywhere they went they could hire someone for 125 USD a month to cook and clean for them 6 days out of the week. That wouldn't have even covered my gas bill before I moved!!
