About Art4TheHomeless
Imagine... a movement inspired by the arts to open the eyes of Americans to the plight of their own people. Imagine, through art, music and poetry, we are shining a much needed light on our own crisis: HOMELESSNESS Art4TheHomeless was once a blog called Colors of Ink with Blogcharm, which closed down. Nutang, became the new home of Colors of Ink and was renamed Art4TheHomeless, by a really good friend, Samantha Medd. She is now the Co-Founder of Art4TH. Now Art4TH is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that unites artists of all venues to promote homeless awareness in the US. Art4TH does this through the Art4TH Webzine, a monthly online magazine that features a musician whose music plays throughout the website, a feature artist, and a feature writer while also featuring a homeless relief organization. All artists featured retain their copyrights and all of it is free. If you would like to be a featured artist, musician, or writer contact me at [email protected] Click here to go to Art4TheHomeless Art4TH on Facebook Art4TH Latest Posts

Meet Robin, a homeless mother Nonprofit Status January Art4TH Zine is out! Happy New Year 2010! Merry Christmas Homeless at Christmas, 1993 Art4TH has been featured in this blog | Thinking on a positive note Saturday. 11.22.08 2:08 pm Things are going great for my mother. I haven't been getting as many hours from my job as I would like, so I am in the process of finding a second job. I want my own place so I can do my own creative thing. I am working on a project to be entered into the LSU art competition in March. If I get in, I will be going to Baton Rouge for the opening reception. Also, I will post my piece up for sale with all of the proceeds going to a homeless shelter in Baton Rouge. So I am debating with myself on what to do. It has to be on an animal and I love cats. I could also re do my Zulu Frog piece onto a bigger scale as well. I think that would be more of a challenge and am leaning toward that. I love challenges! There is this guy I like at work, but I don't think he is interested. He knows I like him and all, but hasn't really said anything to me so I will just forget about that. The last thing I need is another relationship anyway. Plus he seems to be one of status and money and I don't need to be distracted from that. I am not at his level financially and that does intimidate me. I am not like those girls who will do anything to get a guy like that. I am just determined to dedicate my life to Art4TheHomeless and I think that he would probably look down on that. I really don't know him well and I could be just trippin over nothing but the best way for me to pull back is to dive into an art project. I have never been to my home state capitol and I hope my work gets accepted! Comment! (1) | Recommend! Just creating up a storm Thursday. 11.20.08 12:36 pm I was notified by email that some of my art sold on Zazzle.com--I made like a $3.00 royalty, not much but it will add up one day. I am very hopeful :) Since Zazzle poked me for my attention, I have been creating some new stuff to sell. If you don't know, then I will tell you: All of my online sales will benefit homeless shelters in America. That is my goal. I have two major lines going: Special Lady in which the sales of anything of this line will go to help women's and children's shelters The Gentlemen's Club in which the sales will go to help the men's shelters. I am still working on one for Veterans--I haven't fogotten yall! I am currently drawing up a few designs and trying to debate with myself on a catchy title for that line. Anyways, here are a few items from the two lines! Comment! (1) | Recommend! New art Tuesday. 11.18.08 12:54 pm New edition of Art4TH Zine out! Friday. 11.14.08 2:55 pm It's that time of the month! In America, our next holiday is Thanksgiving so I posted a little something about The Homeless Network on the front page. In fact, I have added some new information that I will let you read about. The feature artists are Johanne Jakobsen and Mama Jo! I have a couple of featured adds from Zazzle.com of which I am a member. They are Alice (Indy Alice) and Kathleen. I also joined a new Myspace Group and wanted to invite you to join it. It is "President Barack Obama" and I have the image-link posted on the front page of the zine. http://art4thehomelesszine.tripod.com I also have a poet, a very good friend of mine. Her name is Samantha Medd I am sure you will enjoy her work. I don't have a link back for her, but if you want to see more of her stuff, check out my myspace page: Myspace.com/art4thehomeless and she is The Senshi on my top friends. I do apologize for having no musical artist for this edition--no one has sent me anything. I did upload a song that I am using for intellectual purposes, but since my computer is angry at me and is determined to act like the AntiChrist, I am not sure if the song is playing or not. Anyway, the song is a rock song in Finnish, so if it is I hope you all enjoy it! Be sure to click "Digg this site" because the more who digg it then the more it will become well known and people will see your work and hear the music. I need artists, writers, and musicians for the December-January-February editions. Anyone interested? I can do re-features! Let me know and thanks for being a part of Art4TheHomeless Comment! I hope I do because if I can get it, then so can anyone else who really needs that money. I applied for $1000, but the limit is around $5000 I think. Anyway, The Homeless Resource Center is a website dedicated to servicing Homeless Americans with resources--you can do research for shelter food, and other things. The site even has a community forum. I got an email from them and would like to share what they told me here: Meet Mr. Larry Katie Volk interviews "Mr. Larry" about how he works to provide hope for those he serves. http://getrevealed.bm23.com/public/?q=ulink&fn=Link&ssid=9815&id=7g8lirh1eqnh2syz1h4j4sfsnkf4g&id2=4wrwv2hrqyy43qggvwbuddu0u0m3l I Believe Recovery is Possible An assessment tool for organizations to help determine the degree to which their services are "trauma-informed." http://homeless.samhsa.gov/Resource/View.aspx?id=33390&utm_source=GetRevealed+Mail&utm_medium=email&utm_term=I+Believe+Recovery+is+Possible&utm_content=Crider.Johnna%40gmail.com&utm_campaign=HRC+%233 Invisible to the Visible This document contains tips for homeless service providers and their organizations to work more effectively with people who have problems with remembering, thinking, or understanding due to mental illness, substance use, head injury, fetal alcohol exposure, or other causes. http://homeless.samhsa.gov/Resource/View.aspx?id=33389&utm_source=GetRevealed+Mail&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Invisible+to+Visible&utm_content=Crider.Johnna%40gmail.com&utm_campaign=HRC+%233 JUST COPY AND PASTE THE LINKS INTO YOUR BROWSER if you want to see the sites. Personal Grants for the Homeless Saturday. 11.8.08 3:36 pm I had a hell of a time trying to find this info for a friend of mine, but I finally did it. I found an online Government Grant application where you can receive personal grants. However, you have to have phone and email. If you don't have phone, (which most homeless people do not) there is a way around that. I found a website that will direct free voice mail to email--totally free. If you are homeless and don't have access to the Internet; go to your public library and sign up for the computer lab. It's totally free here in Atlanta and Shreveport, LA. It's a service to every American to have access online through the library computer system. I have both links and info to the grant and phone services here: http://thehomelessnetwork. tripod. com/id1. html Comment! (2) | Recommend! My Birthday!
