Art4The Homeless is back! Monday. 12.24.07 1:56 pm If you are homeless and need assistance, scroll to the right side of this page and there are links for shelters for the states of Alabama--North Carolina. I am still working on getting links for the rest of the states.
I do apologize to all of my readers but my site has been down, but its back up an running. I am going to give you a run down on things going on. My mother is back on the streets again and she was kicked out of the shelter yesterday. She and her boyfriend were in a couples shelter, but he started showing signs of a mental illness and Grady Hospital refused to precscribe him medication for it so that is why they got kicked out. I have no idea where she is now and its cold out there.
I am staying at Job Corps for Christmas break and they treated us out to restaurants so I am happy to have a good meal adn a place to stay. I may be (hopefully) getting a job with the City of Atlanta after the new year and will be graduating from here and in the fall, will be going to college. I am currently working on my scholorship and a portfolio for college.
I am also working on adding more links to shelters in the other states--I have not forgotten! I know more and more people are homeless this time of year and I want to do all that I can to help. Though I know you are probably thinking why am I helping others and not my mom--I am not helping others. I have no money--just this blog and my artwork. That is all I have so if you are feeling judgemental towards me about that, then please don't.
My friend got free tickets to the fox Theatre and the pictures I took are posted inside my nutang.com gallery so feel free to look at the gallery photos. Comment! (0) | Recommend! Ain't gonna tell you anything hahaha you need to see it for yourself.
I have been selling some on Zazzle and I just want to mention that I appreciate the buyers--I don't know who they are but God knows. It makes me feel great that people are buying my stuff over someone else's and also knowing that its going for a good cause.

All proceeds go to benefit the homeless! Comment! (1) | Recommend! Sunday. 11.11.07 2:37 pm This is recent. One of my co-workers at City Hall wanted me to do her a painting. I am selling it for $10 and will donate the money in the form of a Toys R US gift card or something and give it to the Atlanta Children's Shelter.

Check this out. I was chillin at the Underground when I saw these people with cans and the sign for Canstruction. Come to find out its an organization helping the National Food Bank. I thought it was pretty cool. They make things with the donated cans of food and give the food to the needy--an artsy kind of way of helping out. I love the idea! So if you want to donate or volunteer, just click here:

Friday. 11.9.07 7:08 am I am going to go to college--some how. I am working as an intern for Atlanta City Hall--but am not getting paid. It's through TCU/Job Corps so you know how that goes....
I want to go to SCAD--Savannah College of Art and Design. Yesterday, I spoke with an admissions counselor and told him my goals--to open an art gallery that helps out homeless shelters. I want to eventually help out children who want to excel in the arts. I want to be the gallery that says yes to a child whose art sales could give them housing, schooling, and meet whatever needs possible.
I am in the process of obtaining my high school transcripts and can not remember what my GPA is--I just hope its a 3.0. You have to have that to get a SCAD scholarship and I plan to. I am also going to apply for FAFSA and the Hope Grant for Georgia. I should get one of those since I am in Job Corps.
I need around $35,000 which covers everything from housing for one year to a full year tuition.
I want this with every fiber of my being. I feel that with a foundation like SCAD behind me, then I will be better able to help others--especially homeless children. Comment! (0) | Recommend! Sunday. 11.4.07 7:27 pm |
