Check out this tee shirt I designed
Friday. 6.29.07 10:37 pm
This is my latest piece on my Art for the Homeless Gallery on Zazzle.com--where you can buy my stuff on tee-shirts, magnets, etc. and all of my profits are going to help the homeless. So far, I have sold 2 things and made 9 cents. This shirt is $29.99 and Zazzle gets most of the money since they make the shirt, use their own colors to print out the design, etc. They just pay me for the image I use. And that, will go to homeless shelters. You can access my Zazzle page by clicking on the Flash panel to the right. If it is not working go to:

Job Corps Graduation
Tuesday. 6.26.07 3:34 pm

Wow this morning was awesome as I saw a couple of my friends graduate. For those of you who do not know what Job Corps is, I will break it down to ya. Job Corps is a national program that helps young people ages 16-24 get their diploma, GED and a trade. I already had my diploma ( c/o 2003 C. E. Byrd High Shreveport,LA) but I joined Job Corps just a couple months after Katrina. I am currently in the advanced training program and am saving up money to get my own place here in Atlanta.

Today, TCU (Transportation Communication Union) students were invited to the graduation which is a first since I have been in the program. Usually, Job Corps and TCU don't get along--long story about that. Two TCU students were graduating and not one time was the fact that they were complete in TCU mentioned which was kinda like a slap in the face.

There was a little party afterwards, ice cream, BBQ, and music. Tomorrow, summer break starts for the students, though this time I am staying in Georgia. I don't want to experience another Louisiana summer, LOL.

I had lots of fun and soon hopefully I will have some new links up.

National Food Bank Locater
Monday. 6.25.07 11:39 am
I found this really cool site that will help anyone find a food bank anywhere in the USA. It is called Second Harvest and is basically helping Americans get food. So if you are stuck in a city and are not famialliar with it, this site can definetly help you out. It also has a brief statistics section for each state.

I will put it under the National Homeless Links section to the right of this post.

New York Mayor Bloomberg helps the poor/ New link up for the State of Louisiana
Monday. 6.25.07 9:01 am
I was watching the news this morning and instead of the usual murders and car accidents, some good news came forth. Mayor Bloomberg is giving money to the impoverished Americans of his city if they make healthy choices. The money comes from his private funds that he and his staff raised up just for this project.

There was one Democrat critizing saying that it was giving the poor an excuse to be poor which I think was totally stupid of her and made her look bad. He is doing much more than she is in my opinion. He is doing what every American who can afford it should do: help his fellow citizens.

I applaud you, Mayor Bloomberg. We need more leaders like you in America.

Here is a news link if you want to see the article.

Mayor Bloomberg

I also have a link up for the Homeless Links for the State of Louisiana--my friend Cassie emailed me the link and it is a pdf upload of homeless shelters and organizations. I will also have more links up for Louisiana coming soon. URL

8 new links up
Sunday. 6.24.07 12:05 pm
Ok yall I have 4 new links up under the Federal Homeless Programs section and 4 new links up for Alabama Homeless Links. They are links to the US Interagency Council on Homelessness, HUD, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation United States and the Department of Education: Education for Homeless Children.

Two of the Alabam links are lists of homeless shelters in the state and one of thoses links has a map. One link is to the Friendship Mission operating out of Montgomery, AL and the Downtown Rescue Mission operating out of Huntsville, AL. These last two shelter do accept paypal, so I encourage you to donate if you have the extra $$

I will be working on more links for the states as I want to have links for people in all 50 States. The more people who come here and find help, the better. I will get paid for them coming and that money will be going to homeless shelters across the US.

If you have any links you want to see, feel free to contact me. If you are not a member of Nutang, don't worry, I am working on a guestbook where you can leave a homeless link.

My first post
Saturday. 6.23.07 11:38 pm
Hi all. My name is Johnna Crider and this blog is called Colors of Ink and it is about helping the homeless. My goal is to raise $1000 by blogging to help shelters all across the US so I need everyone to comment.

I tried this with Blogcharm.com for a year and it didn't work out. Blogcharm owes me $30 and didn't pay out like they said they would so I am moving it.

Colors of Ink will have some of my art, and pictuers, and will also have links to various homeless shelters in your community. So everyone, if you have a link to a shelter leave me a comment. I am also posting a guestbook for those who are not members of Nutang so they will be able to post as well. I want Colors of Ink to be a source of information that would help a homeless person find help.

As you can see, Colors of Ink is still under construction but comments are ALWAYS welcome.
