About Art4TheHomeless
Imagine... a movement inspired by the arts to open the eyes of Americans to the plight of their own people. Imagine, through art, music and poetry, we are shining a much needed light on our own crisis: HOMELESSNESS

Art4TheHomeless was once a blog called Colors of Ink with Blogcharm, which closed down. Nutang, became the new home of Colors of Ink and was renamed Art4TheHomeless, by a really good friend, Samantha Medd. She is now the Co-Founder of Art4TH.

Now Art4TH is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that unites artists of all venues to promote homeless awareness in the US.

Art4TH does this through the Art4TH Webzine, a monthly online magazine that features a musician whose music plays throughout the website, a feature artist, and a feature writer while also featuring a homeless relief organization. All artists featured retain their copyrights and all of it is free. If you would like to be a featured artist, musician, or writer contact me at [email protected]

Miracles are stalking me!
Friday. 8.29.08 2:03 pm
I am so grateful to God for he has hounded me with miracles! My boss paid my rent for a week and just when it was up my mother finally got her disability check and we are paid up for the month!!!! We are off the streets. And I am more than on a mission here. I am gonna do whatever it takes to get art4thehomeless out there. The new zine will be published on the first of September and even has a section for poetry. I am also planning to include musicians as well, but that is still in the planning stages.

Not only have my coworkes shown me support, some have given me money, which I am planning to repay them and of course, told them that whenever they need me to do something artistic for them whether its jewelry making or painting, I will do it for free. One of the supervisors gave us food when he found out we were on the streets. One of my coworkers who gave me money got into a car wreck. Her name is Kelsea, and I am only telling you because I want you to lift her up in prayer. She is physically fine, but car accidents are financially messy. So wil you join me in praying for her?

It is a good feeling that I am stable and secure. I thank God everyday for each day and for my health. And of course, for my mission--to help not just the homeless, but the organizations that help the homeless.

I also want to take a moment to remember the victims of Katrina. Today is the three year anniversary and I hope and pray that Gustav doesn't go straigh to the Gulf Coast.

I didn't realize until yesterday that my post about Obama and racism was recommended and became one of the best blog entries on nutang. Wow! That just floored me I was not expecting that at all. So I want to say a special thank you to eveyone who commented and recommended and for those of you who just come to support Art4TheHomeless,, the webzine and The Homeless Network, I want to encourage you to check out my fellow Nutangers' blogs as well!

The Webzine needs musicians, poets and writers, and artists for the December and January editions! I started this in August and look how far it's come along. I am glad its still going on.

So if you are an artist, writer, musician, or just want to advertise something for free, let me know and I will feature you. The webzine is promoting homeless awareness in America and features homeless service organizations on the front page.

The Homeless Network is a site dedicated to helping any homeless American citizen get back on their feet. The site reminds you that you are still an American citizen and has links to your rights, homeless law center, homeless medical center directories, homeless shelter directory with a map, and much more!

I also want to say a special thank you to the folks from Europe and Austrailia who emailed me sharing their support for Art4TheHomeless. It's encouraging to know that others around the world recognize the homeless situation and want to help the best way they can even if it's just an encouraging email.

Obama
Tuesday. 9.23.08 12:36 am
I bought an Obama tee shirt. A lot of folks wear them here so I decided to just join them, though, I wasn't expecting all the positive comments about my shirt today! I am glad I got it. I had so many people just walk up to me and agree with me on supporting Obama...and I think Obama would like that himself. He needs to come back to Atlanta, and I need to meet him and not at a dinner where its $2500 a plate.

Happy Mother's Day to all moms!
Sunday. 5.10.09 2:47 pm
last year, my mother was on the streets. Also the year before that b/c I was in Job Corps. But this year, she is with me and I got her a lucky bamboo plant and a some gemstones: Rose quarts, hematite, bloodstone, Seraphinite, and an opal--all which are reputed to be healing stones when they are combined.

My mother has a heart problem and a blood problem. She has neuropathy of the legs and diabetes--but she is alive and that is what I am grateful for.

So to all the mothers out there HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Exhausted
Sunday. 2.15.09 9:52 pm
Wow..I have been so busy. Either working at my job--I am getting more hours--or working down in Little 5. Friday the 13th was Customer Appreciation and an art reception for my artwork. I had a nice time. I had to work that night and we were busy.

I am working on my piece that I want to donate to Habitat for Humanity and when it's finished, I will, of course, have pics of it up. I did the Valentine's edition of the webzine, and just realized that almost two months of the new year is gone already!

Art4TheHomeless is doing well and I am joining sites like PowerWomen's Magazine networking groups and trying to just get the word out that Art4TheHomeless is here for anyone who needs me.

My mom is not doing so well... she was diagnosed with kidney disease.. on top of emphysema, copd, diabetes, and three arterial blockages..but she has quit smoking! She uses the patch and took it off and hasn't had cravings! I want to spend some time with her and take her out to the park and enjoy the beautiful weather and all. I planned on relaxing at home today but got called in to work only for an hour so here I am back online ;)

Update on Mom..I could sue the hospital and get money...seriously
Sunday. 5.24.09 3:48 pm
Mom is supposed to be released sometime soon...or not. The doc's can't make up their minds:

Option one is to keep her and have her do the lung studies and heart cath as a patient.

Option two is to release her and schedule the lung and heart tests for outpatient.

She is so ready to come home and I am ready for her to come home. This Memorial Day Weekend I was going to take her to the Jazz Fest but kinda hard to do with her hooked up to a heart monitor....

Oh yeah, forgot...they haven't decided on surgery either.

The lunch ppl fed my mom shrimp soup the other day. She didn't know that it had shrimp in it and ate some. The docs know she is ALLERGIC TO SHRIMP but after I looked at the soup and saw the shrimp--they were almost the same color as the soup and Mom can't see that good--I went and got her nurse who quickly gave her some benadryl and put my mom back on oxygen since she couldn't breathe. She slept good that afternoon ;) and the doc's were upset that the cafe ppl did that. You know, I could probably press charges and am debating on it.

Well...
Friday. 3.21.08 10:07 am
I am not in a shelter or on the streets. Instead I owe Bank of America a lot of money and am paying almost $200 a week for a room but at least its shelter. I also started my job on Wednesday and Job Corps still owes me money. I am going to raise hell if they tell me AGAIN that they don't have the check yet. The IRS also owes me a few bucks so hopefully things will work out.

I have been unable to get online due to streets around the library being closed and the trainstation being closed as well. Why? Because it has been raining glass...literally. Last Friday's tornadoes tore up downtown and the Westin, among other buildings is shedding glass. It was like a maze just to get here today.
