About Art4TheHomeless
Imagine... a movement inspired by the arts to open the eyes of Americans to the plight of their own people. Imagine, through art, music and poetry, we are shining a much needed light on our own crisis: HOMELESSNESS

Art4TheHomeless was once a blog called Colors of Ink with Blogcharm, which closed down. Nutang, became the new home of Colors of Ink and was renamed Art4TheHomeless, by a really good friend, Samantha Medd. She is now the Co-Founder of Art4TH.

Now Art4TH is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that unites artists of all venues to promote homeless awareness in the US.

Art4TH does this through the Art4TH Webzine, a monthly online magazine that features a musician whose music plays throughout the website, a feature artist, and a feature writer while also featuring a homeless relief organization. All artists featured retain their copyrights and all of it is free. If you would like to be a featured artist, musician, or writer contact me at [email protected]

First Issue of a4TH Zine
Wednesday. 7.30.08 12:25 pm
The first issue is out! The feature Homeless Shelter is Atlanta's own Union Mission and of course, I have the feature artists and my advertisers who are: Joanna Ballard and The Spotted Olive ( feature) and then there's Top Cat, Johanne, Dennis Baer and Weshon Hornsby.

I personally want to thank all of you who submitted art and advertising! Due to the amount of people, I have changed the amount of featured artists from 2 to 3 starting the second issue. On the website, the site navigation is on the top in small pring--well its small on this computer LOL, but I did aim for the biggest font possible.

In the second issue, Marc Doutherd, Johanne Jakobsen, and Richard Hubal will be the feature artists and we will have ads from The Spotted Olive, Joanna Ballard, Stacy Lynch, and Maria G.

I am suffering from a broken heart. I broke up with my boyfriend because we just clashed. I mean, I am not gonna sit around and let the dude ask others out when he never even asked ME out and then he denied saying that to me. After he said it in front of my mom and one of her friends. Then he had the nerve to tell me that I have them under my control so they will do whatever I say. Then he says he is sick and that I could have helped him by doing yoga with him and encouraging him to study--I did that when I had time. Umm I was living on the streets, working part time, and doing my art4thehomeless stuff. So when I had to work was when he wanted me to hang out or whatever. He tried to get me to not go to work--wasn't happening. He also told his friends that I was abusing him...I never once hit him but I did cuss him out when he told me he asked another girl out. She refused because she was married by the way. I did myself a favor, though myself doesn't quite yet realize it. I wish him well, just as he says he wishes me well. Whatever. I am so through dating. No more for me. I will be single until I die. That kind of love does not exist in the real world--a lesson that I have learned the hard way.

Oh yea, he though it was funny that we were living on the streets--well he blamed Prozac. It's the pill's fault! The pill killed the lady in the green room with the candlestick! I saw it!

Let's applaude the City of Atlanta for helping the homeless
Monday. 9.15.08 3:37 pm
Atlanta has this law--you cannot beg. I totally agree with it. I have lived on the streets and I didn't beg but I got the help I needed. The City of Atlanta is doing its part. They have inserted parking meters--well they look like parking meters, but they are actually donation meters for people who feel compelled to help panhandlers. What will happen to the money in the meter is this: it will go to shelters and other organizations that help the homeless.

The City of Atlanta needs to be applauded! If every city did this, people would be more inclined to help the needy without feeling guilty for saying no to a panhandler.

My mom had a birthday today
Sunday. 9.21.08 1:35 am
Just in time for her birthday she received a nice sum of disability and treated me. I didn't get paid in time from my job but I am getting her a late gift her fave purfure L'air de Temps I think I spelled it right. Anyway she got a lap top and we have free wifi so I am online at home. It's a nice feeling not to have to go to the library and wait for an hour just to get on and once we get MS Publisher on here I can work on the ezine. We got everything but Publisher and now it seems we have only 60 days with the windows software before we have to pay or install another one. I am not sure how that goes but MS word has been telling me that I have to enter a 25 digit code to get in and that I can only access it without the code about 20 more times. Is that normal??? Oh, well, maybe we should just get photoshop. we did get nortan antivirus only to find out it was already installed but since it expires 60 days we are good. We went to Wolfgang Puck express for her dinner, though the guy forgot some of our drinks I guess, but everything else was great. The atmorsphere was not like home, but that is to be expected in the big city.

I am only working once a week now and that is killing me. I need more hours. I spoke to my boss and they said they would work on it but I am gonna bug em for those hours. I don't want to have to depend on my mom, I am almost 26 and should be making something happen for myself. It's hard because the economy sux, Bush sux, and there is something weird about Palin--I get this negative vibe from her especially with those pictures of her torturing wolves. What's wrong with these people? They want a wolf torturer in the office but want to arrest a guy for dog fighting. Maybe its a race thing-- Michael Vick is a black guy and Palin is a white woman. I still think its wrong. At least he apologized. It's a sad world where they let child molesters in the streets, have a vice presidential candidate who shoots wolves down for fun but messes up a guy's career over dog fighting. Wow. America is really fucked up. Thank God that my mom and I are okay.

Updating the links
Sunday. 9.21.08 1:45 pm
Now that I actually have access to the web, I am going to take the time to update all the links and create a webpage for them and list them in this order: By National and Directories, then by each HUD state. Since most of the links I have up are not working, I am not going to have individual Shelter links. I am also going to have them on the webzine as well as the blog so more people will have better access to the sites.

Also, I need poets, writers, and musicians for the next editions of October and November. If anyone is interested, leave a comment and your email and I will email ya.

Also to see the Art4TheHomeless webzine, the shelters and artists, poets, and musicians and also my folks advertising, go to

For Those of you new to Art4TheHOmeless
Wednesday. 9.24.08 11:08 am
Hello and welcome! This entry is for the brand new folks to Art4TheHomeless. My mother and I were homeless due to my job not paying enough for rent. We slept under a bridge where a murder took place. The killers walked right by us and we were blessed because we are still alive. She finally got her disability which enabled us to get into a place. For almost three years, she was on the streets while I was in Job Corps. Before that I was living in Louisiana when Katrina and Rita hit. My mother was in Atlanta doing well with her job. My landlord decided to kick me and a few others out because he wanted to make room for Kevin Costner's movie crew for the movie The Guardian. So I came to GA, joined Job Corps, my mother's legs started failing and she lost her job, lived in shelters then on the streets. Then I got a job, a place, moved her in, lost the job, got another job but this is part time, so I couldn't afford rent. We stayed on the streets again and that's when that shooting took place.

My friend, Beth, runs a blog in the UK and wrote about Art4TH so this is for yall who came from her site. I just wanted to say a quick thank you for stopping by and thanks to Beth for writing about me!

I want to give you the link to the webzine that features artists, musicians, and writers from around the world and also shelters and organizations that help the homeless and need help and volunteers.
