Funny thing about the body...
Wednesday. 6.6.07 11:00 pm
Anyone know what kind of bodily mechanism turns your own skin...bitter and absolutely repulsive, taste-wise? I think it's a self-defense in a sort of way against dehydration, because everytime my tongue touches it--my lips, for example--my mouth fills with saliva. To rid my tongue of the taste, of course, and I wondered if that was a way to keep my mouth wet.

I haven't been drinking enough liquid lately so my mouth has been quite dry. WHich in return left my lips chapped and peeling. So that brings me to my involuntary move to lick my lips, thus, me finding out that I was revolted by my own skin.

Eleeeack! Ptoooi! At least that's what I wanted to do, to gag, but I didn't because I knew, I had realized immediately that it may just be in my own head, 'the taste just in my own mouth'. And it is, because I tried it out on other areas of my own skin, such as my knuckle, finger, palm, and back fo the hand. Same taste, same quick swallow to make it disappear.

Well, well. I wonder when it'll go away...Ta-ta!

p.s. Oh, I forgot to mention. I just finished watching The Phantom of the Opera. ^-^ DVD. Awesome, I love this stuff.

Plugs: Thank you all for the birthday wishes!

I think it'd be weirder if skin actually tasted good.
Phantom of the Opera gets stuck in my head a lot. The weirdest part of the whole thing [besides every-other word was in song. but what else could you expect from an 'opera'?] was that there wasn't a whole lot of organ. And when there was, there was a lot of guitar and synthesizer stuff. It was so weird!!

You know the guy who played the Phantom? He was way better [looking] in Reign of Fire. Even though the movie wasn't the best thing in the world. But it had dragons and Christian Bale, so I had to watch it. lol =P

Bitter usually means poison, so you are poisonous! ^^
I learned years ago that saliva is actually very drying, so it exacerbates the problem. Did you watch the Phantom of the Opera with Emmy Rossum or another version? I really liked it, but she was very okay

Maybe it's a self defense measure in case some bear decides you look like beef jerky. :P (Or human jerky, either one)

I lick my lips all the time.. maybe I'm not drinking enough?

I lick my lips alot too, but I think it's more out of habit dehydration since I drink a lot of water. I don't think I would like it if my skin tasted good.

If you enter this code:

It should look like this:

Apparently, your comment box doesn't like striking out words. I wonder if it won't show up if you used it in an entry.

Also, have you been eating anything out of the ordinary lately? If you eat something that's infused with some sort of spice, for example, your body will break it down into metabolic products, and those products may be excreted via sweat onto the skin. These things might taste bitter.

Otherwise... I have never heard of anyone's skin tasting bitter.

I'm not sure why.. maybe you're too dehydrated?

Salt? I don't know.

The mom thing is only made worse by the fact that I'm 22, you know? I should be able to say "I'm going to go do this", and she should say "Ok. (Insert warning if necessary/something dangerous like skydiving, jumping 15 cars on a motorcycle, walking through the ghetto after dark)"...
