Knowledge vs. Technology

What do educators have against technology?

I'm sooo tempted to bring my laptop everyday. But it's not small like ipods, cells or whatever. Hard to hide...and so d*mn heavy! Mine is about 6 lbs. To lug that around all day...not a happy prospective to look forward to. Except I really want to bring it to school! >.< Argh!

Wouldn't it be nice to have around? Notes and classwork could be typed up during class...though it may get noisy from the clacking keyboards. ^-^;; And you wouldn't need to line up to use the outdated SLOW computers in the library...

But! My genius of a brain also understand why. *sigh* We could be doing other things during class. Such as playing games, doing homework or surfing (NuTang!).

Schools officially prohibit cellphones now. What's the difference? Still the same old, same old.

"Here's a secret between you and me." The teacher whispers with a playful smile. "You can have your cellphones with you in here. Just keep it out of sight or I'll have to take it. The principal told me--well, all the teachers--so. But just between you and me, you can keep it on you." He straightens and nods like he did a real favor. The students nod back with their eyebrows nonexistant against their hairline. And of course, they exchange looks with one another.

Meh
Cell phones are allowed @ my school...most teachers will let it slide even if it goes on during class...but not the AP ones, they're all business ^^;

Honestly I'd be worried to bring a laptop to school anyway, because leaving it unattended for just a moment can spell danger.

lol
that's funny that whole conversation on the down-low with the teacher...hehe...honestly, what kind DOESN'T have a cell phone at school even when they're not supposed to have one? People texting all the time...you'll never get rid of them.

I agree with the laptop thing...one second out of sight and boom...GONE...kids don't think of things that way. They just take what they want because they want it and don't think about what other people feel about it.

Cell phones aren't banned at our school. They're just not allowed in class.

I don't think my laptop is six pounds....but it's a super skinny one that only has Windows ME so I guess it all evens out.

i have a super old lap top that was my dads and it's going down hill fast haha.
but i agree i think that if they could incorporate laptops in highschool like they do in college (certain classes at least) that it would add to the ciriculum. but i guess they figure you'll just sit and play games all through class and never learn... which i guess to at least half true haha

there's this one school
in the next district over that has funded the money so that every kid at the school has a laptop and that's where they do all their work now, notes, classwork, homework, everything. I'm so envious cuz I could have seriously used a laptop when I was going to school.

haha we're allowed to use phones "discreetly" in school now, since we're sixth form. yes, we get so many privelidges, like the ability to push in front of the lunch queue muahaha XDDD

nah, you tiao arent fish sticks. YU tiao are, but not you tiao... they're sorta like... fried dough. doesnt sound very appealing, but it is delicious ^_^

gosh i totally agree with the laptop part!!! i touch type at about 80+ words per minute, which is at least 3 times the speed i can write at x_x;

unfortuately, the only time you get the privelidge of using a laptop and lugging it round school is if you've broken the arm of your writing hand... which is never gonna happen for me cos i'm ambidextrous. pft. x_X
