Bah. This insomnia is going to be the death of me...

I think I'm going to draw a larger pencil version of this:

Gojira! It'll be a pain in the ass, but oh so beautiful in the end. Now, to find the time to do it...

Shout out to Lazypuppy, whose ridiciulously catchy tune "Mitternacht" just shuffled onto my iPod. The audio doesn't do it justice though, I need the video...

There have been two things that have been irritating me lately: craisins and showers. Both of them are marvelous things, and I have both everyday, but they're causing some problems. First of all, I can never pour a handful of Craisins without spilling at least one. Second of all, I can never take a shower less than 10 minutes long. I try so hard to make them short, but for some inexplicable reason, my mind goes completely blank under the spray of hot water and I forget everything. It's a good way to relax, but when you're on the go, this is the biggest waster of time.

Blah blah blah, I need to sleep....Muffy over and out.

Do not try to bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.
A good dose of nostalgia
Monday. 2.18.08 1:46 am
Today was a day for extremes. For the first portion of it, I festered away in front of the computer playing the pointless yet equally addictive online game Conquer while devouring scores of Hershey's Hugs, which Brittany had so kindly donated on V-Day. After deciding that this was most definitely NOT going to help me achieve my first New Years resolution (props to anyone who can remember it), I ventured outside and proceeded to jump rope for about two hours, during which I only worked on two tricks: the Dark Side and the Sunny Day.

They sound corny, yes, but they are sooo effing hard. I came back inside with welts, scratches, a chipped fingernail, and a lot of irritation, for I had succeeded in completing neither. But I'm damn close....

I'm listening to the original Power Rangers theme song on my iPod. This was mostly inspired by Aji's Power Ranger video. It suddenly occurred to me how much I miss those guys, especially the first movie. Gaw. They were like essential to my childhood. Every Christmas present up till I was 10 had something Power Rangers in it. (I'm also listening to the X-men theme song as it was aired on Fox Kids...but not as many people are familiar with this)

Muffy over and out!

Oh my.

Well I was up till 4:00am last night (morning?) working on the Valentine gift, because I am the master-procraster, if you know what I mean. And it wasn't even that elaborate. I'm just too picky with the details....

Yes yes, I know there are plenty of people out there who hate Valentine's Day. I hear it all the time. "False love." "Why can't you love me any other day?" Thankfully I'm not the one on the recieving end of these remarks, but it's just as annoying. Valentine's Day is a once-in-the-year thing, just like any other holiday. My family doesn't have a gathering unless there is a special occasion, but that doesn't mean we love each other any less.

And now, a sappy moment just to piss off all the haters out there....today was the first time I've had a Valentine. I had become so accustomed to spending February 14th in solitude that I was completely thrown for a loop when I discovered presents in my locker this morning. I must say, it's a nice change

And for all the folks out there who love free media
(That means everyone). The new Realplayer has a tricksy feature that allows users to rip music and videos and direct download into your computer, even from streaming sources like Youtube. Just make sure you enable the feature during installation....

Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have no words.

Another jump rope video:

My double dutch routine from the 2008 World Trials

It's a simplified version of the routine, but we still placed first with it.

Senioritis has been setting in lately...I find it harder and harder to even begin on simple assignments, such as the Spanish workbook I should be doing right now . I'm not going to start getting B's or anything like that, but procrastination is winning the neverending battle, inch by inch.

I've been in a philosophical mood lately, for that I blame Evangelion, and there's this thing I've been contemplating for the past few days. No matter how hard anyone tries, there is not a soul on this Earth who can pinpoint the meaning of life. Maybe there isn't a meaning, or maybe there're too many....but it's all irrelevant if you aren't happy. Isn't that what we all strive for? Don't we all live our lives everyday in the pursuit of happiness? If you're happy then who gives a damn what the meaning of life is, because if you're happy you dont need one. All you need is to be glad that you're alive.

Sometimes I overthink things

In your face
Saturday. 2.9.08 3:24 pm
Oh. My. God. I ask my dad if I can go over to Brittany's house and he launches into a 2-hour tirade about how I haven't been keeping up on scholarships, how I don't have a plan, how I fail at this, and that, and the othe thing, and on and on and fucking on.

After staring intently on a spot on his forehead for a good five minutes, the rest of my vision began to fuzz out, and I discovered that if I crossed my eyes in a certain way, his entire body would disappear! I was very proud of my achievement, and began to contemplate how I would smash this annoying, talking head into the wall behind it.

Long story short: WASTE OF 2 HOURS. Fuck.

Ironically, after he finished his ranting, I got a letter in the mail from Elder & Leemaur Publishers that an essay I had submitted to them was being published in a book called "Authors of Tomrrow," and that my piece was currently being reviewed for scholarship moola.

In yo face, father

Call the police...it's the wind!
Friday. 2.8.08 11:50 am
I've gone on another podcast spree. Why? The election. Why? Because I'm voting in November. It struck me out of nowhere the other day, and I was severly bothered by the fact that I knew virtually nothing about this eleciton, so I decided to remedy the situation with almost 24 hours worth of politically-packed audio (84 podcasts). Now maybe I'll have a productive reason to stay up till the wee hours of the morning...

Funny story. So the wind somehow blew open my front door. I have no idea how this happened. Even when the door is unlocked, it's pretty damn hard to open without physically twisting the handle. Anyhow, a particularly strong gust of wind managed to dislodge the door and swing it open, thus sending the alarm system into a squalking fit.

My poor mother was home alone when the alarm starting blaring, so she locked herself in her room and called the police. I wasn't here when this happened, but according to her she was relatively calm about the whole ordeal. The police came -- 20 minutes later -- and conducted a thorough search of the house. I mean very thorough, as I found my mattress to have been thrown clear of the bedframe when I returned home.

Thankfully no one was actually prowling around my house in the 20 minutes it took for the popo to get to my house. Some very, very bad things could have happened in that timeframe. The hair rises just thinking about it. Ooooh god, what I would to do anyone who laid a finger on my mother.....

I should be writing an editorial for the paper right. Bleh! Muffy over and out....

You blink your eyes and its already two hours later
Tuesday. 2.5.08 11:10 am
Well. Today has been a rather interesting day.

It all started at four this morning, when I went to bed. Then I woke up 2.5 hours later, barely caught the bus, and managed to stay awake for all of school except for maybe 10 minutes of nap in AP Calc. The reason for this outlandish behavior, you ask? It's Iron Man's fault, I swear to god. It all started when I went to Youtube to look up the new trailer for the movie that had premiered during the Superbowl. I eventually found myself on Wikipedia looking up various aspects of the movie, and before I knew it, I had read the entire Iron Man Wikipedia, which in turn had led me to cover all of The Dark Pheonix Saga, The Onslaught Saga, the Brood, Juggernaut, Age of Apocolypse, Ultron, The House of M, The Avengers Disassembled, The Legacy Virus, Cassandra Nova....

Basically the entire Marvel Universe

*sigh* I have no idea why the hell I was so intrigued by all of that. Nerdism taking over, no doubt. Anyhow, upon returning home from school I was gripped by the sudden urge to clean. Once again, why the hell....? I don't know. So now my room is spotless and I'm sitting here at 11pm about to fall asleep because:
1.) I didn't get enough sleep
2.) jump rope practice was ridiculously exhausting.

In the meantime, this is a video from the workshop I did in Tyler, Texas. The tall guy w/black hair is me! (the default cover pic for the video is also me)

Muffy over and out

(I like that, it's catchy)

The title would be this entry's number. Yes, I spent five minutes counting my entries for no apparent reason. Don't judge me

All the misgivings I expressed in my last entry have pretty much flown away. I still regret that we weren't able to do our best, but trials let me know know not to invest so much into those routines. I want Nationals more than anything now (me and Jesse are doing a pairs now, we're going to effing kill)

Speaking of jump rope...we just did a UW halftime show today. All of today. I woke up at like 9:30, screwed around, left at noon, came back at 6. Fwoosh the day was gone. Oh well I had fun, even though the actual show was ridiculously short for the amount of practice we put into it .

I recently unearthed $120 worth of Best Buy giftcards that I had somehow stockpiled through the years. This is perhaps the only time I have been excited to go shopping. Unfortunately, technology is a wee bit expensive, so $120 is probably good enough or 2-3 things from there, but I don't give a damn because technology is also cool and generally worth the money.

Oh my. I have also gotten a Facebook. It is dedicated to all the jump ropers I have met on my travels about the country, because they're the reason I made it in the first place. You could think of it as Facebook for jump rope purposes. Is it as whorish as Myspace? No, but it lets people stalk you a lot better.

Anyhow I seem to be rambling at this point. I had my quarter-year anniverary with Brittany yesterday. Yes, a whole three months. Now only 23 years and 9 months more and I can catch up to my parents. Sometimes celebrating those little things feels pointless in the long run, but I think it's those kinds of moments that we'll remember when we look back on the early days

P.s. - For all you haters out there, I reviewed Cloverfield for the last issue of the school paper and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be posting a copy of my review in my readings section.
