    Jay-Z vs. Jadakiss

Since it's release, people have been buzzing about a line from Jay-Z's "Do It Again."

"Fuck the flow, yall jackin' our slang / I seen the same shit happen to Kane / Three cuts in your eye brows tryin' to wild out."

Some say, it's pointed at Jadakiss of The Lox. Everyone knows that The Lox's single "Wild Out" has a similar chorus as "Jigga My Nigga." Jadakiss has also claimed to be the best rapper since Big died, a claim that Jay-Z has also made.

Diddy Connects With Nas, Kanye & Just Blaze On "Press Play"
    Friday. 9.8.06 12:09 am

Thursday - September 7, 2006 by Alexis Chase
    Diddy

Fans can expect a number of heavyweight collaborations on Sean "Diddy" Combs' upcoming Bad Boy solo release Press Play, including contributions from Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Nas.

The star-studded album will be released on Oct. 17th and also features appearances from Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx, Fergie, Brandy and Outkast's Big Boi. Big name producers Just Blaze, Rich Harrison, Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am and Mobb Deep's Havoc joined Williams and West in contributing tracks to Press Play as well.

The album is Diddy's first since 2001's platinum-selling The Saga Continues, which opened in the No.2 spot on the Billboard 200. That album sold 1.1 million copies stateside according to Nielsen Soundscan.

"As time evolved, and I started traveling around the world and going into dance and techno clubs, I began to see music from a global point of view," Diddy told Billboard.com. "It all came together on 'Press Play' -- all those sounds in my head."

The lead single from Press Play "Come to Me" is currently at the No. 13 spot on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart. The song features Pussycat Dolls' lead singer Nicole Scherzinger. Diddy is set to perform his single tonight (September 7th) during NBC's "NFL Kickoff" show in Miami Beach. Yung Joc, Cassie, Tego Calderon and Ozomatli are also part of the performance lineup.

As SOHH previously reported, Diddy will be back on the East Coast by the weekend for Funkmaster Flex's Custom Car and Bike Show. Diddy, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, Lupe Fiasco, Jermaine Dupri, Jim Jones and Flavor Flav are all scheduled to make guest appearances at the event, which is being held September 9th from 12-8 pm at New Jersey's Atlantic City Convention Center. Tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster.com.

    SOHH Official: September 6th
    Friday. 9.8.06 12:03 am

Wednesday - September 6, 2006 by The SOHH Staff

This week's SOHH Official picks Hype Williams: The Videos Vol. 1 DVD, Marc Ecko's Fall '06 40 Acres & A Mule Collection, In the Lab DVD and much more.

Hype Williams: The Videos Vol. 1 DVD - You bitch ass motherfuckers better thank Hype Williams the next time you're salivating over video hoes. Fresh off winning an MTV Video Music Vanguard Award, the man responsible for making video chicks mandatory, has released a DVD revisiting his early years. Vol 1 features classic videos like Craig Mack's "Flava In Your Ear," Wu Tang Clan's "Can It Be So Simple"and Nas' "Street Dreams."

Marc Ecko's Fall '06 40 Acres & A Mule Collection - For this exclusive fall '06 line, Marc Ecko linked up with Spike Lee to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the director's first movie, She's Gotta Have It. The nostalgic collection has lots of gems, including this dope, all white hoody, reppin' Sal's Famous Pizzeria from Lee's classic film Do The Right Thing. Be careful not to spill any tomato sauce on it.

In The Lab DVD - In The Lab catches some of hip-hop's biggest producers in the studio, working on their latest beats. Featuring Rocwilder, Needlz, Red Spyda, and the Heatmakerz, among others, this DVD is both interesting from a fans point of view and for up and coming producers looking for advice on making music and on being successful in the industry.

Black Jesus Bobblehead - Whether you believe Jesus was a black man or not, you can't front on this hip-hop inspired version of the religious icon. From the cornrows to the color coordinated sandals, this bobblehead is fresh to def like Jesus of Nazareth (shout out to Kanye).

Cabana Rum - Drink it, it's good.

Young Dro's "Smokin,'" Outkast's Going "Wild," Method Man Steals Third
    Thursday. 9.7.06 11:56 pm
hursday - September 7, 2006 by Rebecca "Tracie J." Murphy
    Young Dro

In this week's Hip-Hop Charts, Young Dro is the "Best Thang Smokin,'" Outkast has the charts going wild, and Method Man steals the third spot.

Debuting on the Hip-Hop Charts at No. 3 this week is Young Dro. The ATLien responsible for the hit "Shoulder Lean" has dominated the top of the rap charts with some help of T.I, taking Best Thang Smokin' to 104,000 copies in its first week.

Four seats below is Outkast, taking the No. 7 seat this week. Big Boi and Andre are still on the grind for Idlewild this week, pressing out 78,100 units. After 2 weeks going, the ATL MCs are keeping the charts wild, with 274,700 CDs sold.

Debuting on the charts this week is Method Man taking the No. 8 seat with 4:21...The Day After. "Say," the lead single, has just barely kept Meth's latest effort in the swing of things. However, the Def Jam rap veteran, is still representing for The Wu, landing in the top ten with 62,300 discs sold.

Also debuting on the Hip-Hop Charts for Def Jam this week is The Roots, taking down No. 9 this week. The Def Jam reps have Philly on lock as Game Theory has built enough clout to lock down the top ten. Their lead single, "Don't Feel Right," has rounded off the digits for their latest LP to 61,200.

Slightly slipping to No. 13 this week is Rick Ross. The rapper from the M.I.A has pushed 366,700 after 4 weeks going, as the week-in total for Port of Miami has finished off at 42,300.

Too Short's new album, Blow The Whistle debuts at No. 14 this week. "Blow the Whistle," the new single from the West Coast gangsta rapper which was produced by Lil Jon, has taken the album of the same name to 40,100 in its first week.

Moving up two spots to No. 15 this week is Gnarls Barkley's St Elsewhere. The duo is still getting it in after 16 weeks, breezing through the rap competition with 855,400 discs sold thus far. This week, Danger Mouse and Cee Lo have made off with 39,100 units.

Next up is Yung Joc's New Joc City, taking the No. 29 slot this week. After 13 weeks on the move, the Bad Boy recording artist has continued to put it down for the ATL, representing with 663,800 CDs sold to date. The 7-day cycle has ended at 27,900.

Skydiving thirty-four positions this week is Obie Trice, breaking his tragic fall at No. 64. Second Round's on Me has fallen game to the rap race this week, moving only 15,300 copies. After 3 weeks, Trice has lost the second round, sitting at a slow 117,200 units in total.

Debuting on the charts this week is Beenie Man taking No. 65 with Undisputed. The new single, "Hmm Hmm" has barely made a sound on the Hip-Hop Charts, taking Beenie to a quiet 15,000 in the first week.

In closing, Pharrell is no longer "Number One," DMX needs a sign, T.I.'s clout is in the clouds, and Busta touches the bottom of the charts. This week, Pharrell has hit up. No. 66, with 14,900 copies sold. After 6 weeks, In My Mind has moved a slow 281,600 discs. Tumbling thirty-one slots to No. 80 this week is DMX. It's been 4 weeks, and the Yonkers native has only taken Year of the Dog, Again to a mediocre 231,800 copies. This week, the weekly numbers have rounded off at 12,300. Not moving an inch at No. 89 this week is T.I. The newly released single, "Live in the Sky," features Jamie Foxx, and has contributed to the 11,400 discs sold this week. To date, King has finished off with 1,464,300 units sold. Taking the No. 93 seat this week is Busta Rhymes. Video Roundup: Suge Chokes A Chick, Mos Def Getting Arrested, K-Fed is Official
    Thursday. 9.7.06 11:48 pm
This is why Youtube is the shit.

As you may have heard, Mos Def got arrested last Thursday night after the VMAs. But now we've got the video. He was performing on a makeshift stage outside of Radio City Music Hall in an impromptu performance and got bumrushed by 5-0. Word on the street is that Mos isn't getting the same "respect" Diddy did when he pulled the same type of impromptu performance outside the VMAs a few years ago. Diddy didn't get arrested -- but was actually praised for the performance. Maybe Mos just didn't have a permit. But I have a feeling that wasn't the only problem.

Maybe it was because Mos is seen as more of a "gangsta rapper" than Diddy so NYPD felt a lil more threatened than they would if he was a pop artist. Or maybe NYPD was just "doing their job." Regardless, shouts out to Mos for holding it down. I hear he was spittin someseriousness on the mic before the bumrush.

It's flying all over the internet that Suge's new dance move is choking a chick while gettin his two-step on. Apparently, folks everywhere are just outraged that he would "choke" a chick on video and be praised for it. I mean, was he mad that he just filed for bankruptcy?

But it doesn't really look like any choking went down. It looks like he wrapped his arm around her neck -- probably less tight than it looked -- and continued his business dancing. And it doesn't seem like the chick minded much as she continued to dance with him. This video is more funny than anything. Clearly chicks are just happy to get close to Suge and don't mind his python-sized arm to be wrapped aound their necks for a minute. Funny ish.

Kevin Federline has a new official video for that "Lose Control" joint he performed a while back at an awards show.

Will the beat carry him through getting hip hop cred? You be the judge.

Is it just me or does that Kevin F. beat sound like a sped up chamillionaire song? I can't put my finger on which one yet? But it's weak as hell! This is a sad ass moment for "hip hop"....if that's what you even wanna call this?
Suge Knight knows his ass too big to be puttin his arm around somebody! But it was funny.

    Posted by: Brandi<3 at September 6, 2006 09:56 AM

Damn I love MOS DEF. I swear. He keeps it oh so hood. I love it. NYPD don't be playing that shit though. Ha ha ha. Anyhow. That video of SUGE is killing me right now. I'm mad that he yoked shorty up, like, "Cmere bitch..." She has her eyes closed like, "Damn, Damn, Damn, here comes the big one. I knew I should've stayed home. Shit." LMAO. Too funny. I refuse to watch the KFED shit. He gets no love. I don't even want him to see that people have checked it.

Posted by: Rocky at September 6, 2006 10:02 AM

"Maybe it was because Mos is seen as more of a "gangsta rapper" than Diddy so NYPD felt a lil more threatened than they would if he was a pop artist."

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Or maybe its cause Diddy got the keys to the city.

Mos Def is definitely more of a political voice than what any police force is probably use to on the hip hop scene, but Mos Def just does what he does. He probably knew there was a good chance that would happen, you see he didnt break a sweat, and he kept poppin shit as they escorted him outta there in cuffs. Now THAT'S gangsta. Gotta love it.

I disagree on the Suge thing. He wasnt holding her neck tight, but every time he dipped her back, you could see all up in homegirl's face that one mo' dip might be her last, LOL.

    K-Fed.....booooooo.

    Mos Def is the realest
    Freedom Fighters in the house

He had a permit and they still fucked him over.
The cops will always try to keep us down.

    Somebody shoot Kfed.

    This Honky is wack!!!!!

Posted by: NYC 4 LIFE at September 6, 2006 11:14 AM

Naa man they wasn't worried about Mos being gangsta, in fact if it was some genocidal gangstas on that stage talkin about murderin, and pushin dope to the people, the police would've let them continue, finish, and do a encore. Mos is a conscious black political figure, talkin that political shit uplifting and enlightning the brothers and sisters and the cops/"powers that be" can't very well have that now can they?

    Fuck Suge,
Fuck K-Fed, I can't believe I even typed his stage name.

Posted by: Scott Free at September 6, 2006 11:20 AM

It does look like Suge is choking her to me. It's gental and not meant to kill, but definately meant to choke on some S&M type ish. It kinda turned me on. :)

I know I ain't the biggest rap fan on the planet, but I never knew Mos was a gangster rapper. From what I understand he was shut down because he was spouting some anti-Bush Hurricaine Katrina lyrics.
