    More News On Hov
    Thursday. 9.14.06 9:05 pm

Clearly Jay-Z has been a publicity hog this week. SOHH reported he's dropping a single in October. And now, he just did an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly where he's giving out a lil info on his comeback from retirement. According to EW, his album is entitled Kingdom Come, not Presidential Gala as was previously reported. And since Rolling Stone (the original source) did the article months before EW (which is not out yet), I'm going with EW's version of the rumor. They say about his retirement and comeback:

"It was the worst retirement, maybe, in history,” Jay tells EW. “I believed it for two years.” Jay’s new album Kingdom Come, rumored to be in stores this November, will feature production from Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Kanye West and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

    It hits newsstands Friday.

Why is it that every rapper that "retires" always comes back? That's a lame publicity stunt and its been done to death.

As far as Superhead and Bobby Brown, I think they belong together. They both have no talent and have built careers on the backs of people they've fucked.

i feel u, but no i think when u look back at ya career u think lke damn this was tight and this was and u be like i shouldnt left like this. jay was right i dont think black album was good way retire, so if u gonna do it do it rite.

Posted by: dopeman at September 14, 2006 06:29 AM

Whitney never need that clown and good luck to her. She's finally taking alot of control over her life now it's time to take control of her fast ass daughter Bobby Kristina. I seen that thirteen-year-old little heffer taking sexy photos and sending them on the net

It's just this pitiful nigga Jay-Z to think of only himself. The nigga is getting too pathetic for words. He's going to relive some shit he did ten years ago at a concert? Get over the resonable Doubt shit nigga and release a Redman and Methodman album my nigga.

In fact I got reasonable doubt that you were ever an MC!!!!

This is by far the dumbest statement I have read in a blog in a long time. Queensbridge, what are you really thinking. Last time I looked Dame could not rap, so if he was not hooked up with Jay-z, he would not have a career.
Everyday, peopl talk about the south, and album sales, etc etc. Don't hate on Jay-z, everytime he come out, he is multiplatinum. How many rappers can still do that in todays market. People be scraping to get platinum nowadays, if you can still sell, come with a new album. If you don't like don't buy him and stop bitching, because regardless what you people think. These rappers don't give a damn bout yall.

Personally, when artists such as Jay-Z, Diddy, Tina Turner, Cher etc.....when they say they are retiring from the industry...people must realize that even though they have been blessed to obtain large amounts of $$$ over their careers....they still have a staff, etc...to pay!!!...so they really can't stop working...they can take a mini vacation and then resurface....I mean look at the rolling stones...shit, their in their 60's and still rockin-n-rollin....even paul mccartney has to keep working and he's work a billion dollars....if they want to maintain that type of life style their are living....!!!!I think Jay and Diddy should help the new cats that are out there in the world waiting to be discovered all they need is a chance to be heard just like someone gave them a chance.....back in the 90's!!!!ths is basically the main reason (my own opinion) that the music that's out right now isn't as 'HOT' as it should be....!

And if Dame and Biggs were such good business men how come nobody who was originially wit the ROC wanna go wit they label. Everybody talk about Jay do this and that but look at the facts. NOBODY WANTED TO STAY wit DAME AND BIGGS

You niggas are sick with the Jay-Z hating, frankly Papoose is hot garbage on a rainy day. Get for real bitches. Jay-Z and Nas will resurrect hip hop. What has your boy Busta did for it or 50, LL, Meth, Mob Sleep? Who name someone that hasnt flopped this year. You hating ass bitches grow up and recognize real. When is Pap coming out, who did he sign with, he is a Kay Slay gimmick, just like Dip Set.

To be quite honest I cant say Im sorry to see this happen, though I wish them both the best. I want the classy Whitney back.

Posted by: Chillmans at September 14, 2006 08:58 AM

How the hell can Papoose replace JayZ? I gotta stop coming up here...Hip Hop has the dumbest fans by far...

The nigga is an artist first. He's only 36 years old and he's still one of the best at what he does...If you don't think so check him out on that joint with Lupe....

My point is an artist never fully retires...if the music is in them you can't turn that shit off...Look at Patti Labelle, Luther(before he died), Janet Jackson...It aint about being selfish, it's about an artist wanting to express themselves...and Rap artists do it thru music...

Get off the niggas dick...If you dont want to hear him don't buy the album...

    Be Proactive about Happiness

    Today's Scripture

"This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 18:24)

    Today's Word

Did you make up your mind to be happy this morning? It's important to be on the offensive when it comes to your happiness. If you don't set the tone early in the day, the enemy will start reminding you of all your problems and of everything wrong in your life. Before long, you'll be negative and discouraged.

Notice that the Bible doesn't say, "I might be glad today if everything goes well. If I don't get stuck in traffic, or if my boss doesn't yell at me, or if it doesn't rain on my new hairdo." No, the Psalmist said, "I will rejoice and be glad." No matter what kind of difficulties I face today – no matter who tries to make me upset – I choose to be happy. Never forget that although you might not be able to choose your circumstances, you can always choose how you respond to them.

If you'll make the decision to stay full of joy, if you'll choose to be happy in spite of your circumstances, the enemy can't keep you down and defeated. God will give you supernatural strength to overcome every obstacle you face. And you'll live that life of overcoming victory He has in store for you.

    A Prayer for Today

Thank you, Father, for this day. I will take time to smile and to laugh today. Starting tomorrow, I want to get up every morning and declare out loud: This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! In Jesus' name, Amen.

    WOW

    All yall really blamin Bobby
Bobby was definitely part of her problem
    he definitely ain't no saint
    But Whitney Had ISSUES
Bobby in my opinion just made them worse.
Anyone that saw some of the reality show knows she's loony too, she's wierd!
I'm happy for Whitney but lets not put it all on Bobby
How many times has she been to Rehab and left early.
2nd we all knew what Bobby was about since day one. When they got together the entire world was like Bobby not Bobby you mean Blair Underwood right
    nah anyone but Bobby
Bobby sht has always been on front street. Its there for everyone to see.
She knew what she was getting herself into and she stayed with him.
After seeing some of that reality show.
I know Bobby was part of the problem, but to me Bobby made flaws in her character that were already there worse.
I like Whitney hope she gets back on her feet but shes not normal.
Besides I'm pretty sure she's tired of getting cheated on By Bobby anyway
I doubt she had some moment of clarity
they've been separated for a while and hes hit on half a hollywood already.
but if she did god bless and best wishes
get your self a therapist a couple lawyers and an accountant and good luck
cause Bobby's BMs are know Bobby ain't got it, so they going to come after her money.

Posted by: Banga! at September 14, 2006 09:50 AM

I think Jay is just a figurehead over at Def Jam. Release another album? For what? That's a conflict of interest being President of Def Jam...I think he should give up the seat to someone else...it's reminiscent of what Suge said about Puff at the Source Awards back in the day....executive producer rappin and dancing all in ya videos....now Jay is President of a label hoppin on everyone's song believing it will help them shine cause he spit 8 bars....another man can't make another man/woman hot if their material is boring...that "hanger-on" mentality is why Mase, Mobb-Deep, LL, etc jump on 50 cent's shine....WITH NO SUCCESS! Artists need to redefine their hustle...it's not about selling albums...everything is digital now....maybe artists should get paid to sign endorsement deals with file-sharing companies....everyone is on them anyway. Let the file sharing companies (I use Limewire)run 30 second commercials, ads, etc...and redefine how you're going to make money....otherwise....it's a cold winter.

PS...As much as I love their music...I'll be downloading Jay's and Nas shit too when it comes out. I'm loyal to my family and my money...not to paying for songs I'll either hear on the radio or could download in seconds....keep it real....

Posted by: Plem at September 14, 2006 09:52 AM

What's up with that white zit on Jay-Z's face? They couldn't photoshop that out? Not a good look.

Posted by: Proactive Solution-Preserving your sexy like Diddy at September 14, 2006 09:58 AM

Jigga needs to quit hoggin the spotlight from the all the non-retired Def Jam artists. Seems like since he's been president, only R&B groups get any pub. What about Method Man, LL, the Roots (Whose albums will be out of the top 100 after a month and probably stall out at 200K sold, like Ghostface's did) And will there ever be another Redman or Joe Budden record. If he's not retired, he needs to let some real executives do what he's supposed to be doing at Def Jam,which is Making sure hip hop records get sold by Def Jam artists.

Posted by: steflove at September 14, 2006 09:59 AM

Bobby Loses His Perogative Since Whitney's FiIling For Divorce,
    Thursday. 9.14.06 8:45 pm

The shit has officially hit the fan. It's official. Our favorite crack comeback queen Whitney Houston is divorcing Bobby Brown. They were married for 12 years but Whitney apparently has had enough. Yesterday, sources were reporting left and right that Whit filed for legal separation and is in the process of filing for divorce. I knew it was coming... but damn. It's the same feeling as when you knew damn well Hov and Nas would eventually grow up and mend their beef, but when they actually did it you were surprised as all hell.

Whitney at the 15 annual Ella Awards last night

The official court documents don't say why Whit's filing for a separation, but I'm sure it's because of Bobby and "Supahead's ongoing affair that everybody in the business knows about. And I'm sure Bobby's crack habits played a part too. Whit just got out of rehab for the second time last month.

Supposedly Bobby is getting all his bills paid by Supahead right now. So I wonder how his second wind of a music career is going to work out now.

Houston Artists on the Chart: "B'Day" All the Way
    Thursday. 9.14.06 8:34 pm
    Maaan...hold up.

The good news is that Beyonce smashed competition this week, selling 541,196 copies of B'Day to secure the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. That's gold-certifed in one week. Phew!

    The bad news?

Considering all the magazine-covering, B train-riding, booty-shaking, MTV-appearing, awards show-crashing, LeToya controversy-stirring, headline-whoring, Jay-Z buckle-almost-kissing, crocodile-abusing, fans petition-dissing, 541,000 albums is, in fact, an underachievement. It's still an impressive showing, seeing as it surpassed her first album's opening sales by over 224,000.

LeToya's self-titled debut, on the other hand, managed to moved up 6 steps to No.38 with a solid 21,698 scans this week. LeToya has now sold a total of 378,725 discs after 7 weeks on the chart.

Even though Koopa is looking a chamillion bucks right now, The Sound of Revenge has finally exited the Top 100. It's at No. 102 this week with 9,266 scans, which bumps the total sales to 1,176,438.

Speaking of Cham, catch him today (September 14th) on MTV's "Wild 'N Out" at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Young Jeezy "Phones In" Fli Tones For ATL
    Thursday. 9.14.06 8:30 pm

Thursday - September 14, 2006 by Jolene "foxxylady" Petipas
    Young Jeezy

Hi Fli Tones, an Atlanta based ring tone company has tapped Young Jeezy and other various local rappers to be the faces of company's current campaign.

Jeezy, along with Shawty-Lo, Slick Pulla, BHI, and Yola the Great will prominently appear on Hi Fli's website (www.hi-flitones.com) and their ringtones, videos, pictures and other mobile content will be available via the site.

According to Tim Maxman, President and Managing Partner of Hi-Fli Tones, his company will only offer mobile content from Atlanta based artists whose material is hard to find on mainstream platforms.

"In many explosive urban markets like Atlanta, Miami, and Houston, the evening radio countdown doesn't play the Billboard Top 40. Instead, it's full of local celebrities who make music specific to that region," explains Maxman. "That regional music is essentially overlooked by more popular sites like Jamster so we decided to fill the void. In the process, we give consumers an alternative and we create a revenue stream for local artists."

In related news, Young Jeezy will be joining Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris at the Morris Brown College in Atlanta this Saturday (September 16th) to support Russell Simmons' "Get Your Money Right" tour.

Launched in 2005 by Simmons and the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN), the tour speaks to young adults and community members about the importance of financial literacy.
