Musiq Departs Def Jam, Starts LUVANMUSIQ at Atlantic
    Wednesday. 2.7.07 12:05 pm
Musiq Soulchild is returning to the scene and a lot is brand new about his familiar sound.

SOHH Soulful caught to Musiq to get the scoop on his new album LUVANMUSIQ due out March 13th on Atlantic Records.

That's right, Atlantic. You'll recall the Musiq was on Def Jam for his first three albums AIJUSWANASEING (2000), JUSLISEN (2002) and SOULSTAR (2003).

His switch to Atlantic was more like an NBA trade off than anything else. Apparently, execs at Atlantic and Def Jam got together and decided that Musiq would better off on Atlantic and Fabolous would be better served if he were on Def Jam.

Hence the switcheroo. You can read the full story on how record labels are going to start trading off artists rather than just drop them, in the February/March issue of GIANT magazine with Jennifer Hudson on the cover.

Dude's first single of this new album is "Buddy". Listen to it here.

Don't sleep on that "Buddy" remix featuring Young Buck and T.I. Cop that joint right here.

Daily Hip-Hop News:Jermaine Dupri Appointed President Of Island Records
    Wednesday. 2.7.07 11:04 am

Wednesday - February 7, 2007 by Anthony Roberts
    Jermaine Dupri

Universal Music Group named Jermaine Dupri the new president of urban music for Island Records today (February 7).

According to Billboard.com, the hip-hop mogul, who has produced hits for artists such as Mariah Carey, Usher, Bow Wow and Da Brat, is set to take over the position at Island, after vacating his post at Virgin Records. As previously reported by SOHH, Dupri recently stepped down from his position as president of urban music at Virgin, apparently after the lackluster sales of Janet Jackson's latest release 20 Y.O., which Dupri co-executive produced.

During his stint at Virgin, Dupri was responsible for signing Atlanta group Dem Franchize Boys and also was involved with Big Boi's Purple Ribbon label.

Dupri will be reunited with Antonio "L.A" Reid, who is chairman of the Island Def Jam Music Group, as well as friend Jay-Z, president of Def Jam.

Ciara On The Cover Of King, And Who Watches Soul Train Anymore?!?
    Thursday. 2.8.07 8:20 pm
Sexy Atlanta Siren—Ciara is gracing yet another cover this month and it’s King Magazine.

I’ve got to say, I think the princess of Crunk & B music’s appearance on the cover of the hip-hop men’s magazine is a real good look. Though she isn’t showing her ass on the cover like others before her has. She is still showing her age, and dishing out a little sexiness with the lollipop.

I got to be honest though; I am just sitting around waiting for her to evolve into Ciara “The Nympho”. We all know she isn’t all that talented as a vocalist. And the only way she’s going to keep herself relevant and still manage to sell records is to lose the clothes. Just look at Britney, Trina, and Madonna.

Oh well, whether she takes it all off or keeps it on. She still is one sexy ass girl who could get it from me any day. “You hear that CiCi, Come and get it mama!”

SOHH after the story broke that Vivid Entertainment bought the rights to the Ray J/Kim Kardashian sex tape, clips of it began to surface online.

To the disappointment of all the freaks.... THERE IS NO GOLDEN SHOWER SCENE... in this version. Also check out TMZ's exclusive clip.

What's Beef: 50's Funeral Music For Cam, Gillie Still F'in Up
    Saturday. 2.10.07 8:16 am
    50 CENT - FUNERAL MUSIC (CAM'RON DISS)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_poeloXyDmA

It's official--The 50 v. Cam'Ron beef has just been stepped up by 50. It looks like this video was thrown together in about an hour--but y'all get the point. He likes Jimmy better anyway. Let the saga continue....

Gillie Da Kid was arrested last night during a ring drug bust in Phily. The cops have identified Gillie as the ring leader of the drug operation. And now a statement from Gillie's and Major Figga's(who was also arrested) camp has been issued:

I am confirming the fact that Gillie was indeed taken into custody and arrested by the Philadelphia Police Department on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. However, the charges are unwarranted and once Gillie has his day in court, we are confident that the evidence against him will prove to be false. The Philadelphia Police Department is clearly using Gillie’s status as a hip hop artist and entertainer to draw media attention to him. This was clearly a case of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Gillie is in no way guilty of the charges brought against him and once all facts come to light, he will be fully exhonerated. Gillie is in high spirits and wants to thank the whole hip hop community for their support and well wishes during this time. Gillie recently signed a Mixtape Album Deal with Babygrande Records to release a “Best of Gillie Da Kid Mixtapes” which will be dropping in stores March 13 featuring Gillie along with the whole Major Figgas Crew.

    Gotta love the constant promo.

Paul Wall has announced early details of his eagerly awaited second album. It's dubbed GET MONEY - STAY TRUE and is set to drop on April 3rd. The album's first single, "Break 'Em Off," has just arrived at multi-format radio outlets nationwide.

All kinds of production aces joined him on the album, including Mr. Lee, Drummer Boy, Addict, KLC, DJ Montay, Travis Barker, Jermaine Dupri, and Freeway. He did collabos with Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dogg, Lil Keke, Freeway, Rick Ross, Fergie, Jon B, Trina, Crys Wall, Yung Redd, and Expensive Taste (Travis Barker & Skinhead Rob).
