New Music, updates
Sunday. 5.17.09 2:14 pm
First things first. This is "The Perfect Scene" by "Mercy Mercedes". Yet another band my girlfriend has found. heh. It's a good up-tempo number though.
Not a terrible lot to update. Still working, still loving my new job. Still on contract so I'm still only making 9 an hour, but I'm just happy I'm still there. I've been learning a whole lot. I've probably learned more in the last few weeks about php and sql than I'd been able to learn on my own in 2 years. Which is great. I love learning new things about something I care about.
Ugh. Jenn rear-ended someone yesterday. So that sucked. It's probably going to cost $800+ dollars to fix. Both our turn signals popped out (still work) but they're loose now. The front grill fell out, and the bumper is cracked. Thankfully, everyone was okay. And the guy in front of us wasn't an ass about it or anything. And there didn't really seem to be much damage to his car.
Just goes to show you how things balance out. A month or so ago we went to a casino, and I put $100 into a progressive slot, and won the jackpot, which was $1800. So that was nice. Got a new computer (needed one for work). And took a big chunk off our main credit card.
Can't think of anything else I might be able to update about, so I'll take off.
New Jobs, New things
Thursday. 4.16.09 8:04 pm
So I'm sure many (ok, so one or two) of you have been wondering where I've been, and what I've been up to. A few months ago I'd signed on with a temp agency for techies, to see if they could get me a programming job. Well, about a week ago they did just that. I started last thursday, quit my horrible graveyard job, and ... well... it's been a blast.
My new job is so awesome... there are no words. I love every minute of it. I panicked the first few days. It's a highly technical programming job, and a lot of the stuff they're doing here is stuff I've never done or had any experience in, but once I was told that I didn't need to learn all this stuff right away, things began to roll along.
Everything is great here. I love all the people I work with. I get to come to work in jeans and a t-shirt. I can clock in from home to do programming work on the computer. It's just awesome. It pays a little less than my previous job, but that's only while I'm on the contract period through the temp-agency. If I work out and they decide to hire me after the contract is over, I'll probably start at $12 an hour, and eventually I'll work my way up to $15 or $20.
That's mostly what I've been doing the last few days. I'm even busier now than I was before, heh. But the good news is, I have a job I love now, and I get to sleep at night, with my girlfriend, instead of sleeping all day and us never spending any time together. It's just great.
Okay. Enough gushing. So, how have you been?
