Tragic death for Rev Run family
    Friday. 9.29.06 1:04 pm

Posted Sep 26th 2006 11:11PM by Rachel Mosteller
    Filed under: Celebrity babies, Rumors
Rev Run (real name: Joseph Simmons) and his wife recently welcomed a baby daughter, only to have the birth turn to tragedy.

The baby was born via c-section Tuesday, only for doctors to announce that the baby's internal organs were all outside her body. The baby died shortly thereafter.

Simmons is a member of the rap group Run DMC and the star of an MTV reality show titled "Rev's House." The pregnancy played a major part in the last season.

Although Simmons' family has not confirmed this news, it is believed to be true.

TMZ is reporting that MTV cameras were in the hospital at the time of the baby's birth. What a horrible tragedy for this family.

    1. May God give you the strength to handle this tragedy........so sorry for your loss.

Posted at 9:45PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Pieta

    2. Wow. I am shocked. This is one of the saddest things I have read in a long time. As a fan of the show and Rev. Run's music, I offer the entire Simmons family my condolences and pray that they get through this difficult time. God bless them.

Posted at 9:47PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Logan

    3. Isn't something like this detected through ultrasound during pregnancy? I don't understand why cameras were there if they knew the baby was going to die.

    Very sad, though.

Posted at 9:53PM on Sep 26th 2006 by stephanie

    4. Oh wow. They were so happy when they found out she was pregnant.
    I can't believe it.

    5. It is a horrible, sad thing to lose a child! :(

Posted at 9:54PM on Sep 26th 2006 by HBK

    6. My prayers are with him and his family! This is such a very sad situtation

Posted at 9:48PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Amanda

    7. I want to say I think this is horrible for the family, I watch the show during season, all I can see is Justine buying baby clothing early before pregnancy is known. I love this family, and show, and things happen for a reason. He is the "REV" and I know his family is praying. This has Happened but for this something Big Will Happen in Return. My thoughts are with this family.

Posted at 9:57PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Flight Attendant

    8. That's my question Stephanie. They didn't know they're was a problem before the baby was born.

Posted at 9:55PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Lisa

    9. " a cruel twist of fate " ????

TMZ, have a heart! what kind of sensationalized writing is that?????

    10. I'm SO sorry!

Posted at 10:08PM on Sep 26th 2006 by sasha

    11. Such a tragic event, I feel for the Rev and his family. I did not follow the show but either way it still is so sad. My prayers are with them to get through this terrible time.

    12. prayers go out to the family

Posted at 10:06PM on Sep 26th 2006 by moonie

    13. That's so sad...I hope they can get some time to themselves through this tragedy...

Posted at 10:11PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Snoopy

    14. WOW ! That is really heavy. I know what it's like to lose a baby at birth. It is devestating. So sad. You've decorated the baby's room. Bought all the furniture and had the baby shower. You never forget the loss. Her grief must be ten fold, with the media attention to add to it.

At least I suffered my loss in privacy. Thank goodness she has the support of her family and friends to get through this. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family in their time of need. It's time to turn off the CAMERA'S and let them grieve.God bless that little baby. God Speed. He or she had a higher calling.

    15. I AM SO SO SO SORRY. MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE FAMILY. I WATCH THE SHOW AND LOVE IT. I KNOW THEY WERE EXCITED.

The Makings of Monica, SOHH Soulful Top 5
    Friday. 9.29.06 1:18 pm
Despite the public's resistance to Monica's more urban side, Ms. Arnold is still planning to drop beats on October 3rd, the slated release date for her upcoming CD, The Makings of Me.

Monica appeared on "106 & Park" to speak more about the upcoming project which features production from Missy Elliot and Jermaine Dupri.

Hate it or love it ya girl can sing.

But while you were wondering if it's true that Janet Jackson will only move about 360,000 units in her first week of sales or who the real father of Anna Nicole's new baby is (shit, maybe it's Terrell Owen's), we've moved on to the ...
SOHH SOULFUL TOP 5 SONGS OF THE MOMENT

    5. Peter Hadar - "Need Love"
In my quest to show some love to independent artists, Peter Hadar is the first of them to hit SOHH Soulful. Check out this track titled "Need Love" made right in his one bedroom flat in Harlem. GIVE PETER SOME FEEDBACK!

INDEPENDENT'S GET AT ME ON MYSPACE!

    4. Ciara - "Promise"
We'll stay up in Ciara's ass as long as she let's us. It's a pretty big chance she's taking with this slow joint; knowing that we prefer her twerking her goodies in a style reminiscent of Aaliyah mixed with a heavy dose of Janet.

    3. One Chance featuring Akon - "Private"
The track is produced by Ryan Leslie. If you don't know who One Chance is, take a look at this video featuring Usher for an introduction.

Don't forget, Janet will be performing at Rockefeller Center tomorrow morning on the Today show during the 8:30am hour. If you are in New York City and are attending, look for the SOHH.com cameras as we will be in search of Janet's most excited fan.

Ludacris: The Release Therapy Concert Rolls In
    Friday. 9.29.06 1:24 pm
Ludacris will bring his Release Therapy concert home tonight, as he attempts to disturb the peace at The Tabernacle. Luda's in the backstretch of his two-month tour which concludes in mid-October.

Not sure if we'll see the rest of the DTP family on stage with him but it's a good bet that we'll see a few squad members on stage at some point.

The album is doing big numbers as expected, and this tour provides a fitting close to a big week for 'Cris.

I hear lots of talk on which Ludacris album was his best etc... So here's how Release Therapy ranks among his previous efforts.

    1. Word of Mouf - Came out the gate on some Flo-Jo ishh
    2. Release Therapy - When all is said and done, one of the most complete albums done in a while)
    3. Chicken -n- Beer - Neck and neck with Word of Mouf to be honest
    3. Red Light District - I like it but I expected more from top to bottom
    4. Back For The 1st Time - Raw Luda, I think he was finding his style and where he wanted to take things

All in all, no shortcomings on any of his albums. They were were all consistent star-material, the main reason he is who he is too...consistency. The funny thing is, you can arrange these album in any order and still have a legitimate reason for doing so. That's what I mean by consistently dropping bombs.

"luda always bring the fire and we going to show yall why the south running things bc we support our own so before anybody talk about hip hop died nall nigga you stop supporting real hip hop quit downloading for your ipod and buy a fucking cd"

region support has nothing to do with why people say hip hop died. It has to do with how many people and artist feels it's more a business than ever before. Also, region support has nothing to do with the way hip hop is the way it is. Listen to Hollywood divorce and tell me that's not what's happening to the game. Btw LUDA is from chicago :-).

Just because an artist was born in a certain city doesn't mean that they can't establish their life in and rep another city while their young. Snoop Dogg was born in Mississippi.

Better yet Check KILLER MIKE - DEUCES WILD. If that track right there dont catch on then hiphop is done. Thats how southern gansta ish should be done!!!!!

Posted by: illone at September 29, 2006 10:55 AM

Luda is straight fire when he's featured on another artist's track, but his albums are a little inconsistent. Bar for bar I believe he's still one of the best in the game though, but I thought Chicken N Beer was a lil mediocre. Word of Mouf was hot and so was Back For The First Time. I don't own Red Light District so I can't comment on that.
