Flavor Flave Says No More "Love", Game Distancing Himself From Dr. Dre?
    Friday. 9.29.06 12:39 pm

Flavor Flave is leaving his disturbingly popular show on VH-1 Flavor of Love after this season ends. He told TMZ that if he finds love this season--which I hear he has--then there's no point in continuing. He also wants to focus on his new album and other media ventures.

But what kind of album can Flave really make as a hype man? I'm just sayin. And what other ventures is this man talking about? Movies? Books? Flave needs to keep it real and play on his strengths--publicizing the foolishness that is his life. He seems like a very nice dude, but it sounds like we're about to be in an episode of "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong" will soon.

    Game on MTV's TRL yesterday

So Game has been everywhere this week. Radio interviews, MTV, BET, all that. And he continues to talk about how Dr. Dre is not on this Doctor's Advocate album. He told 106 and Park yesterday: "I don't need Dre's beats to define me. Go get the Doctor's Advocate." Damn. And he had that same attitude when on the radio here in DC on WPGC 95.5 Wednesday. He said several times that his beats that he does himself are better than Dre's and this upcoming album is 100% his.

Funny since he's working with Em on this album. So I know all that shit he's talking isn't 100% true. So s just trying to stir controversy? Or does he believe his own hype? But I guess we'll just have to see in November when this piece finally drops.

Suge Knight Rides A Bull, Foxy Escapes Charges, Lupe Fizzles
    Friday. 9.29.06 12:47 pm
    http://blogs.sohh.com/ya_heard/archives/2006/09/suge_knight_rid.html

WTF? First Suge Knight tries to choke a chick in the club and called it "dancing," now he's riding a mechanical bull in the club. This dude needs a hobby. But it is funny ish indeed.

Edit: This video was deleted by the myspace user who originally uploaded it

SOHH Foxy "Ill Nana" Brown had the nerve to go up in court rockin' shades and told the judge he needs to make the photogs stop snapping pics of her. The Judge played her on both and told her to remove the shades and the photogs can snap away. But for some reason the Judge did clear her of both of her charges (one included making terroristic threats). Damn, must be nice to be a rapper these days.
Damn Lupe. SOHH Lupe Fiasco sold a whopping 58,000 LPs his opening week. He was outsold by Chingy and Fergie. And to think, I thought he would be a new face of hip-hop. I guess people just aren't ready. I heard he's blaming it on the fact that his album leaked a while back. Album is tight by the way, so get it in your life.

Check out Young Jeezy's new track "I Love It" right here. It's his first single off Thug Motivation 102.

And in case you haven't heard, yesterday's blog reported T.O. attempted suicide but now it's out that all the media got their shit wrong. Surprise surprise. He denies any suicide attempt.

Can you reload the suga vid I can't see it.

    Posted by: 718to804 at September 28, 2006 10:59 AM

He needs to get as much MTV exposure as possible. Reel in those skateboarders. Just because his stuff leaked doesn't mean the album should sell that damn low. That's pretty bad for a rapper of his caliber with one slammin beat after another. Damn. Sorry Lupe.

ARE YOU SURE IT WAS ONLY 58,000??? LEMEE SEE SOME SOUNDSCAN. BECAUSE BILLBOARD WAS REPORTING HE MOVED 95,000...WHICH IS STILL "UNDERWHELMING"....BUT I CANT BELIEVE "PIMP C" MOVED MORE STRAIGHT OUT OF JAIL THEN LUPE WITH "8 MONTHS OF HYPE FROM THE MAJOR LABEL MACHINE".

I haven't copped Lupe's album yet, but I will be getting it this weekend. For whatever reason the Suge video isn't working.

lupe 58000 wtf how and why? are people just that stupid that they really dont understand the words he uses maybe all the smart people are dead or in jail. this is sad there really is no excuse but to say maybe we are a dumbed down society

Posted by: tc at September 28, 2006 11:09 AM

yeah lupe's album is straight fire, but he dropped at the wrong time, a sad day for hiphop but everything happens for a reason, many albums are slept on but repected as classics latr. that gnarls barkly did crazy numbers but its on sum alternative shit and college kids who wouldnt bump lupe copped that cuz its mostly singing anyway i think. but for me, its the same story, i cant listen to the radio, all this trap music kills my ears. i respect people that hustle but cmon, but why does that gotta be all they talk about damn. broaden ur horizons, but if they do that it wont sell so i guess i cant blame these greedy fuckin puppets. remind me of sum minstrel show type shit, only thing the hood is about is coke, guns and hoes according to these these clowns. i'm not big on joe buddens, but i like his line about saying...everyones a killa, but the bodies dont stack up, everyones movin keys, but the amounts dont match up...sumthin like that dont remember...these mufuckas is lyin but the 13 year olds that buy the shit dont care...and sum people in they 20s got minds of 13 year olds. its well produced poison for kids, marketed by rich corporations to make the hood look bad so no progress will be made, just my 2 cents..peep my dude Mic Sol for the truth...www.myspace.com/micsol

Its real dissappointing that Lupe moved so few units but its not too late to save a brother...cop an album for the crib and the car...I got mine, get yours...that album is the truth boi...intelligent and bouncy...get your heads out of Young Joc's jock

If you think about it, Hip-Hop isnt selling at all. I think TI was the only rapper to go platinum this year. Hip-Hop as a whole is being destroyed with an abundance of kill-a-nigga sell crack chicken noodle soup-snap rapper singer shit. It needs to be destroyed so it can rebuild. Also, copp that Lupe...I did and it was money well spent

Lupe's album is classic status. He deserved to sell a lot more. Yeah the album leaked but I've seen plenty of other albums leak and still make good #'s. I think people are just disinterested in hiphop. If he would've came out in like 2000 - 2004 he would've at least moved 300,000 albums. I just think the hiphop bubble bursted in 05'. I think it's not really the cool thing for white people to listen too anymore. They drive the sales. Once you lose them these are the #'s you're left with. Hopefully he can push like 50,000 copies a week like Gnarls barkley did and end up going platinum that way. It's a good album he deserves those #'s.

hat Does Rihanna Think of the Beyonce Comparisons? Also... New Joints From Mya and Nas
    Monday. 12.11.06 8:02 am
When I first interviewed Rihanna, she was still giddy about all the Beyonce comparisons.

“Beyonce… I get a lot of comparisons to her and that’s amazing. There is no artist to be better compared to than her. I adore her as an artist,” says Rihanna.
(if I had time I'd upload the embarassing audio)
Well aside from weave, wardrobe, close proximity to Jay Z and aspirations to be a bigger pop star than Janet, I'd like to add another similarity or burgeoning similarity. OVEREXPOSURE. Is Rihanna next in line for overexposure?

Rihanna has scored a few big deals lately that will ensure that her duck bill will be in your face for quite some time. She scored an LG phone endorsement. Dolce & Gabanna will be providing costumes for her tour. She is the new face of CoverGirl (fuck Caridee) and lastly I just recently read that the success of A Girl Like Me led Def Jam to re-release it in the new year and of course she'll be dropping another brand new project next year.

    WHAT THE FUCK!

That smells like when Bey had an album, a Loreal deal, a Pepsi deal and a movie on the horizon. And now the American public almost cringes at the mention of the name Beyonce.

Rihanna's 4th single is "Break It Off" featuring Sean Paul. Since the blacks didn't buy Rihanna's cd, listen to it here.

But Ri Ri ain't the only one with a big agenda in 2007.
It seems Mya putting her Liberation on hold was a good thing. Those couple singles that were floating around last year weren't anyone's favorite. She teamed with Lil Wayne for her rumored first single. It's called "Lock U Down."
    Listen to it here.

Mary J. Blige's Reflections hits stores tomorrow. Since you are all serious Mary devotees up in this piece I am sure you all probably got a homemade Mary best of cd anyways. Here is one of the new tracks. It's #3 on the cd. The tracklisting is in the comment section.
    Listen to it here.
astly, Nas, whom I venture to say is the KING OF NEW YORK has some dope ass tracks on his cd. Chrisette Michele who appears on Jay Z's "Lost Ones" saved her best for Nas' "Can't Forget About You" which is the best use of the Nat King Cole "Unforgettable " sample I've ever heard. PageBlack don't you agree?
    Listen to it here.

Young Jeezy Gets Flustered, Lloyd Brings The Remix, and Kay Slay Airs Out Lil Wayne!!!!
    Monday. 12.11.06 8:15 am

Is hip-hop dead? A lot of people seem to think so, including myself. Young Jeezy got into a heated argument with NY DJ Monie Love over the current state of hip-hop in a recent interview. At first their banter was very tongue and cheek when Monie inquired about Jeezy's opinion regarding Lil Wayne’s recent comments about Jay-Z claiming that hip-hop was dead.

But when Young Jeezy proceeded to give a standardized response, that’s when the discussion turned ugly. The end result had Young Jeezy suddenly storming out of the studio. Check it out! YOUNG JEEZY GETTING FRUSTRATED

    Speaking of Frustrated....

I know a lot of y’all are pissed about the comments being disabled, but you got to remember that sohh.com is trying to step up the competition and make our shit pop with excitement. Just bare with us, we will get it together aight?
Shout out to Lloyd, Andre 3000, and Nas for a tight remix of “You”. Though Lloyd isn't getting the national success of other young Pop and R&B artists he is still getting a lot of love from Atlanta. Every time Lloyd steps on the scene in this city the girls go crazy.

Not for nothing but you can have a decent career in this city and pull in a lot of money. Because I’m nice and y’all my family here is the download for "YOU (Remix)" Brought to you by Sohh Gyant

Niccas, (can we still use this word, or has Kramer fucked that up for all of us), are upset over Lil Wayne’s recent comments dissing Jay-Z, Pharrel, and the Clispe. I don’t know why everybody is up in arms, it is what it is. Jay has fallen off.. Let me stop talking about this shit. This is the Sohh Atlanta blog so I got to keep this shit local. But, here is the audio for y’all to check out!
4 more days peoples and its a wrap...

SOHH Gyant is looking for you!!

    Hip-hop quote of the day....
I want kids of this generation to see that everything is cool, that there's some kind of unity in hip-hop. We all found something that's really important to us, and music is all we've really got.

Bow Wow Isnt Talking Smack! Grammy Nominations Arrive and Damn Did Atlanta and The Southern Gentleman Do Their Thing!!!
    Monday. 12.11.06 8:19 am
    What’s good Fam?

As usual Lil Wayne and Baby drew major hits yesterday. We had a lot of comments made. Some good, and some not so good but that’s the beauty of expression. Around here you can say what ever the FUCK you want to say.

Yo I know you had to have heard about Bow Wow, and his supposed off the chart comments dissing everybody from Ciara, to Jermaine Dupri recently. Initially it sounded like lil dude was starting to become an ungrateful bastard. However, Bow seems to have his feet firmly on the ground as he has released an official statement letting all the haters know that it’s NOTHING but love between he and everybody. Contrary to rampant rumors appearing on the internet, a purported interview between Bow Wow and Ozone magazine never happened. The alleged interview is a fantasy created by persons unknown.

Statements attributed to Bow Wow were never made by the artist and the purported interview never took place.

Neither Bow Wow nor Ozone magazine had anything to do with generating the fake interview.

One can only assume the alleged interview is either a misguided attempt at humor or a horrible prank.

Bow Wow's response to the fake interview:

"When you gain success and are doing something positive, there's always someone out there that wants to see you fail. I wonder what they'll come up with next? My fans know that I would never say anything like what's in that interview.”

Bow Wow's new album The Price of Fame is due in stores December 19.

I'm working on getting an interview on Bow. I will keep you posted.
    _______________________________
Shout out my southern gentleman for garnering all the Grammy nominations. Here's a full listing. I'm working my contacts to see if I can get us some exclusive shots. Hey what can I say, "its understood I do it for the hood!!"
