Finally, A Response!
Thursday, January 4, 2007
Well, Ed finally told me what he had to say about the DTS opportunity I've become interested in. It's awesome, now I don't have to wonder if he'd be okay with it (sounds like he's more than okay with it!), nor feel guilty about wanting to explore another country while he's away. It's a bit heartwarming to read that part of his response.
But now I'm anxious and nervous. Ed also said that he's worried about me. But he didn't say what worried him. I'd really like to know so I can reassure him that I am okay, and 100% fine. He says he's going to tell me tomorrow, but that doesn't help when I'd like the reason today. Hm. Not much I can do about though, guess I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow. Phooey.
As for the DTS, I have been searching again for maybe something more affordable, and Taiwan seems to be the cheapest at $3000. That'd be cool, especially learning Chinese/Mandarin. I could talk to my aunt in Chinese when I come back home! (My aunt was a missionary in Taiwan until I was about 13, so she knows a little bit of Chinese.) It starts April 2, and I'm assuming ends sometime in September, so I think I'm going to need to start fundraising ASAP! Wish me luck!

Virtual Cookbook
Friday, January 5, 2007
I have decided for the next few weeks, I am going to try and create a virtual cookbook as part of a website dedicated to my future husband. Nobody thinks I can cook, and truth is that I can (as long as I've got a written recipe to follow..). They won't give me a chance to cook though, and claim that I'm a terrible cook because I burn my toast every now and again. Our toaster was on its last leg, and then we got a brand new toaster--how is that my fault?!
Anyway, I don't know what else I'm going to put on the website. Pictures, a journal, and maybe some poetry. That's all I've got so far; I'm going to go look up some other ideas online.
Also, please keep praying that I will get to go on a DTS sometime this year!

So Defeated
Wednesday, February 7, 2007
So..the DTS I wanted to go on in Switzerland? I don't think that's going to happen right now, which is a shame. I still feel really pulled towards it, but there are so many financial struggles right now in my life. I feel defeated, like I should give up, but at the same time I feel like I shouldn't. Prayers on where to go from here would be nice.

Ed wants me to stay here, get a job and go to school. That's great, but not really what I want to do right now. I feel like I need to fully get away from Kissimmee, away from Florida, away from the US. Well, maybe not the US, but from Kissimmee and Florida at least. I don't know.

On a happier note: today's my birthday! I'm 20; no longer a teen, yay!!

FUN!!FUN!!FUN!!
Saturday, January 20, 2007
Ed's home for vacation this week!! Yay!! I've been hanging out with him all week, so that is my reason for not blogging these past couple of days. I'll write more about what we've been doing after he goes back to Iraq. Also, Esther came home from college this weekend so I hung out with her today. That was lots of fun. Write more later, Laura.

Sigh. I Miss Him.
Tuesday, January 30, 2007
So...Ed left this morning. He's currently in Atlanta waiting for his next plane to take off. I miss him so much, and it's only been a couple of hours since our last kiss!! Sigh. These past two weeks went by way too fast. We visited OCSA, which was okay. It was great for him, he really seemed to enjoy visiting everyone back there. I don't know, I liked seeing everyone again, but Ms. Cajigas. She kinda spoiled the entire thing for me, making me feel stupid. God, and she wonders why I never talked to her about the problems I was having senior year?? I'm sorry, but I still cannot stand to be in a room with her and it's been almost two years since I graduated! Ugh!

Anyway, Ed and I went to the mall one day and I applied at Billabong. Haven't heard anything from them, but I have to go back and turn in two other applications for Claire's and Starbuck's, so I'm gonna go back and ask for a status report. Ed seems to love the idea of me working at Starbuck's, so I'm going to try and really get that one if Billabong turns out to be a no-go. Also going to visit a couple of other stores and ask if they're hiring should I not get the others. I really like the idea of working in a mall. I could go shopping during my breaks!! LOL. Probably not the best way to save money though..eh, well. There is a food court so I'll be able to choose from a great variety of menus during lunch and dinner breaks. There's a Nature's Table for healthier options, right?

I'm gonna need a day to ride the bus and figure out approximately how long that would take. And to figure out which buses to take and where to switch off. I'm thinking the 26 from Poinciana to the Osceola Sq. Mall, and then the number 4, but I don't know if the number 4 goes all the way to the Florida mall. My change box is definitely going to come in handy for this!!

Let's see, what else did Ed and I do while he was here? Spent a lot of time with his family. They are so cool, I love all of them! I think they might be getting a dog too, Eddie wants one and all the girls want one. Eddie said he was going to the place where they have the dogs today to play with them, and I hope he had fun! Dogs are cool, but I've become more of a cat person having had cats my entire life. All my neighborhood friend's dogs all bit me too..not a great first impression of dogs, huh?

We took some portraits at Wal-Mart, those should be developed and ready for pick up at the end of February. We also went to Walden's and I got a couple of health/fitness magazines along with Seventeen. Also tried Red Lobster for the first time-it was good. I like the place; I think it's too bad I'll probably get to eat there only once every couple of months or so since my mom can't stand the place. We went out to a sushi bar last night, they had some awesome cheesecake for desert. Me and Sarah didn't really eat anything, though she probably at a little bit more than I did. I haven't seen Sarah since I quit Publix, so it was kinda cool to see her again. Found out we've got a few things in common-love of mountains, dislike sushi, don't eat a lot, etc. It's interesting how our lives are kind of becoming intertwined I guess. I don't really hang out with Ed's friends that much though, like Mike and Joel and such, but I do think they are pretty cool guys.

I think that's the end of today's blog..I have a couple of other things I wanted to share, but I think they can wait until tomorrow. God bless!

Whatever...
Friday. 2.9.07 2:33 pm
So I am no longer a teenager and 363 days away from being fully legal. My birthday was pretty much like any other, except we went out to dinner at Olive Garden. My mom forgot the camera at home, so there's no pics, but I got a bunch of DVD's and a necklace. I now have all ten seasons of Friends, and two seasons of King of Queens. My necklace is really pretty; it's a cross with a pink rose wrapped around. I'll post a pic of that sometime next week.
I want a job. I'm bored as hell! Express has apparently rejected me, which is shame because I really would've loved to work there. It's probably one of my few favorite stores at the mall. Anyways, I still have to return the rest of my applications though I'm not sure when I'll be able to do that, though I'm hoping sometime next week. I could use some money!! I want to get a laptop and a webcam (for someone who won't stop bugging me about it...love ya anyways, though!) Oh, and I will still be saving for a car but I need those items too..
Oh, and I started a blog at ProgressiveU.org (http://www.progressiveu.org/blog/lwelizabeth) so I could enter the scholarship competition. The more reads I get, the more points I get, and the more points I get, the better shot I have at winning one of the scholarships. So click on the link okay??? And feel free to sign up yourself.
