Suicidal squirrel (II)
305th day of 2005
Life has really been sucking. I feel more depressed than the bellybutton of a fat bastard. I need a job offer and $1B. Now!

Anyway, onto the story of the suicidal squirrel. (It's part II, because I've once recounted another tale of a squirrel that committed suicide. It's documented in one of my blog entries.) And, yes, like all my entries, this is entirely based on fact.

So... what started off as a crappy, cold day ended up in utter tragedy. Actually, this event took place mid-day, around 11.

I was walking back home to get something, when I heard this rustling sound. I look over, and to my befuddlement, I saw this squirrel climbing up the side of the brick building. That's amazing, I thought. Seriously, I had no idea squirrels could do that. I thought they could just climb trees. Those silly reptiles!

Anyway, I walk around the building, continuing on my trek back home, down 2 flights of stairs. I then turn back to see where the squirrel was. And then it happened...

I saw the squirrel fall off the building. It was about four stories high, so it fell quite a distance. When I saw the squirrel falling down, my mind just registered with a "what the hell?"

But then--

What really traumatized me was the sound of the impact when the squirrel hit the cement ground. Ooooh man. That was so0o0o nasty. The sound was like a really loud crack.

So you can imagine what I had for dinner.

Afterwards, I kept on thinking about that suicide. And, so I was thinking, if I had walked a little slower, that squirrel could've fallen on my head. That would've been so shitty. I mean, it would be incredibly painful, nasty, and embarrassing.

bankers & trumps
284th day of 2005
Well, another fall break has come and gone like a snake in the brook. Recap at end.

Last week closed with another 2 rejections. On a brighter note, I also had the pleasure of attending a real estate conference last Thursday evening, and part of Friday morning. It was quite interesting... essentially, a large ballroom filled with wealthy bankers and Trumps. There were optimists and bubbleheads. There were dawgs and tcats.

Fall br34k '05 recap:
- managed to sell my car back to Toys R' Us
- packed up some boxes -- we're moving to beautiful place
- slept on avg. 24 hrs/day

I'm so sad
273th day of 2005
Oh man, 2 rejections just this week!

All right, that's it for now. Hopefully, there will be some merrier news to come.

Bad boys for life
260th day of 2005
A famous philosopher once said "life is like a box of chocolates." I disagree. Life is like a box of feces. There's too much crap to take care of.

Anyway, with the start of this semester, the inevitable job process has also begun. The first round of resume-submission deadlines has already passed; the next one being tomorrow night. I've been hitting info sessions essentially all last week, killing my time and my flagella. And next week, we have the campus career fairs.

I wish I were a rock star touring Europe right now.

There seems to be very little stability in my life.

On the brighter side, I've been making a very diverse group of friends.

Life as a Grad
245th day of 2005
Well, the second week of classes has ended for me. Yup, that's right, it's Thursday night and the week of classes is over. Why? Well, Uncle Bollybollimolee, I don't have classes on Friday. Such is the life of the grad student.

Things have been going well. Here's a quick recap:
already got myself 3 free tshirts (though they're exactly the same and a size too small, I'm not not rejoicing)
got a part-time job as a project manager at McDonalds. Taking advantage of the Cornell vet school, I'll do whatever it takes to minimize costs:

Bought paperback, low-price edition copies of my textbooks made from recycled Chinese newspapers.
Got drenched during a hurricane on my way back from a north campus dining hall to collegetown. To give you a better idea, the length of that walk is comparable to the distance from the moon* to Mars. Katrina, you bitch!

Oh man, so sleepy now. Damn 8AM classes killing my flagella. Okay, gonna head out now. Maybe I'll edit this entry a little lat0r to add in all the furry details. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. Either way, maybe I will, maybe I won't. The following image should illustrate my point:

EDIT:
9/3 - also got a free bus pass and free nalgene bottle

chillin' with a billion $$$
239th day of 2005
The prophecy has been fulfilled. Having a laptop is awesome! I'm on campus now, spread out on a couch, with my best new best friend, my laptop. The billion dollars I spent on my laptop was well worth it!

Here are just some reasons why a laptop is awesome, especially at my school:

Moving-in and out is much easier. Lugging up a 2-ton crt monitor up 8 flights of stairs just kills my back.

A laptop is portable. I no longer have to walk 8 miles through the blizzard back to my dorm to email myself something. Some laptops are even edible!

As you may guessed, it gets really cold at my school. With my laptop in my bookbag, I'll be wearing like a heater on my back as I trek up the 16 mile 64 degree incline.

Since WiFi networks are everywhere on campus, I can update NuTang anytime I want.

I can chat on AIM during lecture.
