Welcome to Not Getting Run Over By A Forklift 101. For our first lesson we'll... ack! No. NO! What a terrible way to start the class!

But aren't solar-powered vampires a bit impractical?

Did you know I have somewhere around one hundred forty entires?

The primary function of the United States Coast Guard (besides protecting the borders and patroling national waters) is to travel back in time and battle pirates!

Haight and Chips
Saturday 3.12.05 10:33 am

I'd try to say something incredibly profound, but my mind doesn't operate like that. Especially when I haven't been doing anything inspirational. For the sake of updating on things, though, I lived up to my tradition of accidentally alienating people with a record three on Friday: David, Marie, and Casey. Actually, I'm aware of not wanting to talk to Casey for a while thanks to that lovely incident on the Haight that led to her house on... Wednesday? Possibly Thursday. I don't really want to remember. But I'm not really alienating her so much as ignoring. On the flip side, David and Marie want absolutely nothing to do with me as far as I can tell, and Nicole is disgusted with me for some unknown reason.

Nothing too grand has been going on these days. I've gotten over the cookie thing, since Emerald actually ate a few of them... after giving them to Jimmy and sending me into a sort of internal depression until she asked him for some. At least I didn't cry again. That would've sucked.

Oh yes, the Haight without the Casey factor was nice. More music purchased and I even got to hang with John for an hour before the huge argument. We got some damn good "Fish and Chips" at some place called "Fish and Chips" (or something very similar) and were having fun with the tartar sauce.
"Oh. My. God. It's dripping on my leg. Do realize what that looks like?! AHAHAHAHA!" John was laughing so hard he fell over in his chair, sending it flying into the back of some middle-aged woman's chair and causing her to scream with a great intensity. Good times.

But, yeah, nothing too great to discuss. I shared some pizza with Todd while we discussed random stuff and as of... somewhere around eight or nine tonight, I'd mentioned Emerald ten times since two-ish this afternoon (to him, mind). But sharing gossip is always fun and Todd's got some interesting takes on a lot of it.

Later, DS

Limitless Skies
Sunday 4.10.05 10:22 pm

The past few days have been pretty cool. Nothing too interesting to speak of during the regular week, though. On Friday, I got to spend a bit of time with someone I never really get to talk to anymore while I sort of helped her with an essay. But we kept getting kicked out of the libraries we went to for some reason, which was incredibly annoying since she only got one of the two essays done and I couldn't finish my second. After we gave up, we got some food and whatnot and sat at a table outside of Starbucks to eat. Some crazy asian lady sat at the table next to ours and started asking some really inane questions and, after she got done asking those, some kind of personal ones. I was trying to shut her up, 'cause my friend got on the phone, but she started howling as she talked about people cussing her out in LA... I can't imagine why that would've happened. Anyway, it was later brought to my attention that she sounded exactly like Miss Swan from Mad TV and I'd really have to agree with that. We left for class since I really couldn't stand the lady anymore and sat around cracking jokes about the art for about two hours. I was planning on walking home, but my friend offered to have her mom drive me so I didn't have to.

And then yesterday, I had Art History again. I only had about three hours of sleep since I was up until four waiting for something, but I still went and made it on time. We sat around for four hours, discussing anorexics and pedophilia during the breaks, and a few of us met up to go to San Francisco after class. Said friend from yesterday didn't have money, apparently, so I ended up paying for her BART ticket. My friend Casey was supposed to meet us there, but, no, first her mom wouldn't drive her, then she gave up and left me a message to meet her at her house. We ended up going to the Apple Store where we lost my friend from yesterday to her boyfriend, which was cool since she seemed happy. Afterwards, Wenji decided he really needed to pee, so he literally ran over to Old Navy and upstairs to their bathrooms. I figured I might as well follow them, which proved amusing when he ran in a complete circle on the second floor trying to find the bathroom. Great fun. We left Old Navy and my stalk-o-vision went off, everyone was impressed, and I opted to move on quickly so I wouldn't sit there all day. We hit up the Metreon so Tom could get a PSP *coughs*rich*coughs* and then we went back over to Rasputin. I was thoroughly disgusted with their selection this time, but, since no one wanted to hit the Haight, I lived with it. Afterwards, Wenji really wanted to eat, so we walked around until we found, you guessed it, a Burger King. We all ordered and sat and then I saw a guy with the hottest pants I've ever seen. Seriously. And since I never learned his name, it's Mr. Hot Pants (I thought he might be gay, also...) I was very tempted to go over and ask him where he bought them, and everyone was telling me to go do it, but then a friend of his came over to him and destroyed my confidence. When we finished eating, though, I figured I might as well go ask. And I did. It turns out he was from Germany (and he was 19, by the way. And not gay) and he got them there. We had a little chat over where he lived also, but then I left to go share my exploits with Todd and Tom. Wenji missed it, unfortunately, because he apparently has a bladder the size of a fry box. We wandered around for a while after that and Tom looked for a memory stick for his PSP but didn't find one. We got back on BART and I called Casey, who said she was in the city and that she'd meet me somewhere tomorrow with a friend (who has yet to call and tell me anything since I asked her last night), and went home.

I don't suppose any of that was two interesting, but I'm still really happy I got to spend some time with a friend I never talk to anymore. It's nice to see her smile once in a while.

I'm not looking forward to Tuesday, though. We're doing STAR testing and it's going to bug the hell out of me. Waking up early everyday, not really seeing people I like to talk with, and it pretty much eliminates all the things that make me want to go to school. That is, all the upsides of going. But alas, it will be done, and things will return to normal afterwards.

Hysteria
Monday 7.18.05 11:42 pm

Phew. Summer. There's way too much going on now and I'm not going to bother blogging all of it. But a couple highlights are always nice to toss out there, eh?

Probably the most interesting thing to happen so far is the loss of my old companions, my shoes. I was with a couple friends, having a bonfire on the beach, and the most unfortunate thing happened - the sole of my right shoe stuck to a rock. Now, it's kinda interesting since I didn't actually realize it until my foot got cold and felt really sandy, at which point I pulled on my shoe to readjust it and it went about halfway up my leg.
Next on the list is staying up until about two watching... Hero? My friends and I saw it in English with English subtitles and... they don't match, which we found incredibly funny because we were so tired. The dialogue we came up with for the movie was much more interesting... or at least the dialogue I came up with. But, anyway, on the way home, I spied a hubcab on the side of the road and more or less jumped out of the car to steal it. It's now hanging on my wall.
Georgio and I pulled an all-nighter watching, you guessed it, French hiphop music videos. Enough said.

Some other random things? I've been on two dates avec Jamie, somehow managed to scrape together enough money for a decent camera with $300 left over for the rest of the summer AND pay the bills - can't beat that, Kitty's still evil and likes the taste of human flesh, Emerald and I have still not spoken and I fear things will remain that way :[, I found a shirt I bought for said person a long time ago..., I finally made my rose shirt, (I love run-on sentences,) etcetera, etcetera.

Oh yeah, it's all about music and drawing in my downtime now. My writing ability slammed into a curb and obliterated itself. That's what I get for hanging on like I do, but, hey, I'm not insane yet, no matter what everyone says. It's worth it, vous putains!

Shallow Thoughts
Wednesday 1.12.05 7:14 pm

Yes, it's finals week. They give us too much time for them, so I've resorted to playing games on my calculator to fill the empty time... well, I read a bit too, but that's my main waste of time. I haven't studied for anything since I really don't care how shitty my grades are at the moment. I'm too tired to care. Physics, which I'm taking the final for tomorrow, is probably the only thing I feel like I need to study for, but I don't want to. There are too many distractions.

I can think of multitudes of things I could do to occupy my time instead of studying, there's: listening to music, thinking of someone special, playing this really fun japanese fighting game I pirated yesterday, reading, fiddling with my calculator, playing instruments, sleeping, and many other forms of procrastination (such as this).

I forgot taking a shower. Je vais aller prendre une douche. Feeling clean on the last day of finals will have a good effect on me... hopefully. Of course I can't see why it's any different than any other shower I've taken this week, but it should be... At least I won't scare people away with anything but my ugliness.

~ One day Dad asked me to go fishing with him. I got scared. I had the feeling he was going to try to drown me. I don't know why I thought that, because so far he had never tried to kill me. But he had never taken me fishing either, so I was suspicious. When we got to the lake, he walked right up to it. "Hey, son, come here," he said. "Look at these minnows." "Nice try, Dad - if that's your real name!" I yelled. Then I ran back to the car and locked myself in. Dad never took me fishing again. So I think that proves my case.

Splendor
Saturday. 4.2.05 2:33 pm

So I ended up doing a lot of stuff yesterday. I had to wake up at about five AM to get ready for and get to work by six. When I got there, I went into the break room to clock in and apparently the night crew (security guards, mostly) at Circuit City gets pretty bored. I walked in and immediately steped into a convieniently placed bucket of water at the bottom of the stairs, soaking my right foot. I yelled and walked into the middle because there weren't lights on and, all of a sudden, they came on and the staff jumped out and shouted, "Suprise! Happy Birthday!" I was trying to say it wasn't my birthday and stuff while shaking the water off of my foot, then someone had the decency to yell, "April Fools!" At that point, I threw my shoe at Steve. They put my shoe in the dryer-thing and I went off to unload a shipment and log it... I had a little trouble with that, too, but I'm not going to get into detail.

I got off at 11:30 and caught the bus back to Millbrae and went to Alda's party. It was pretty cool. I got into the backyard and met a whole bunch of new people and they're pretty cool. At least the guys are anyway. I'm not sure if there were any girls I didn't know. At any rate, Alda was going nuts trying to keep everyone entertained and fed and whatnot and I was trying to help, but I gave up after a couple of hours... She's quite stubborn when she wants to be. Let's see. There was also a grill fire, which was odd. Her grill is kinda connected to her house, so we ended up lighting her house on fire. After getting her soaked with the hose accidentally, we sat down and played cards and ate. Nittin was having a rather good time losing, for some reason. Anyway, I looked back over to the grill because I smelled smoke again and, sure enough, it was on fire again. Alda's friends and I took the wooden thing above the grill apart and doused everything again and we're pretty sure it went out. That sort of killed the mood for playing cards outside, so we went into the living room and ate and played cards and watched some oddball movie. Not too much of great interest happened after that, though Alda did get caked... which was funny, I guess, but she did seem a bit irritated. I had to leave a little after that to get back to work, though, or else they would have kept me longer and I wouldn't have been able to take the bus back to Millbrae for Art History.

Okay, so maybe I didn't do a lot, but it kept me entertained for a day, which is always good, right?

Narcosis
Thursday 7.14.06 11:40 pm

I went scuba diving for a week with some friends, and it was quite fun. Since the greater majority of us weren't Open Water Certified, we opted to obtain said certification. We got an awesome instructor - and I mean awesome - he decided to get the actual training done incredibly fast so we could just dive for fun most of the time. It turns out that his "fast method" ended up getting us prepared for our exploration dives in three training ones and about five hours of bookwork. After that, I'm proud to say that I saw quite a few interesting fish, some rays, got lost, navigated my way back to shore, and wasted about 700 psi doing so (which was roughly a third of my already depleted tank's capacity). Thank god I know how to use a compass. :] Otherwise, well, I can see the headline now: "Boy, 16, slain by bloodthristy kelp in recreational dive - goes unnoticed for 12 hours. Coast Guard, 'Oops. Our bad.' "

Seriously, though, it was a damn good trip, what with being away from home for a week and actually spending time with my friends. The only problem is that I came home. The day after I got back, I was assaulted with carve-my-eyes-out-with-a-knife boredom... or was it of the jab-a-flaming-candlestick-through-my-brain boredom? I forget. At any rate. Crap. I need something to do.

Later,
DS
